What's funny is that I clicked on that link to the deck on her website and if you look at the pictures of that test deck in the photos, the coloring is spot on perfect. The Magician and Moon card are shown and you can absolutely see the details in those photos. You can actually *see* the hills in the Moon card. Not so much in the decks that got sent out. You can also tell that deck is different than the final versions that got sent out because the backs are totally different. Oh well.

Thank you! This was the exact comparison video I've been waiting for. I was only able to get this deck this year so didn't have anything other than old youtube videos to compare it to, but I could just tell by looking at it that the darks were too dark. There are too many places where you can't see the line work in the 2024 version. All of the trees, wands and fabrics are a good example of the linework being obscured by the color being darkened too much in this version. There are certain cards where it's really obvious such as the bookshelf and desk in the Magician, the trees on the Hanged Man, the hills in the Moon card and Page of Wands. In the three of cups it's hard to see the face and dress of girl on the left in the new version, but the details of her face/dress is perfectly visible on the original version. I could go on and on lol.
As far as the finish goes, I would have preferred the same matte finish she gave the original version and the Little Monsters deck. I've never liked gloss but that's a personal preference. I'm getting to the point where I think gilded edges are silly. Just being fancy to be fancy. It makes people treat their cards like fine china instead actually using them. Obviously she wants these cards to be as big as they are with those huge borders because that's how she keeps printing them, but I've seen enough mods of this deck to know that people (myself included) actually prefer smaller borderless decks. I bought more than one copy of this so maybe I'll try trimming the borders of one of them. I've been shuffling it and it's cumbersome but doable but yeah, I do prefer no borders.

Wow! You should do your own review! Seriously! This is great! I'm not a huge fan of gold edges, or gold embellishments. And sometimes it just doesn't work for certain decks. The shiny embellishments can take away from the experience. I try not to cloud my thoughts on various decks with my personal preferences...because I can only imagine the amount of work it takes to create an indie deck. But if I am being honest, my pefect deck would be borderless with a matte finish, and easy to shuffle. I like my decks to be managable and practical. This and I like to riffle shuffle, and it is a challene with this deck. I gave it a try last night and I couldn't bridge the deck. Too big, and too stiff. It hurt my hands. Overhand shufflinging is fine. It slides well. But I'll probably keep using my first deck...even after my horrible trim job. 🤭

I have been trying to get my hands on this deck forever! I would have preferred the matte version, but I'll be happy to get a copy of the new edition. I signed up for restock notification. Thank you!
