@@tazmandns60 That reproduction was made before the real sub was recovered. They based it off of drawings. The lance holding the torpedo is modeled incorrectly but in accordance to one of the old drawings. The lance actually protruded from the bottom and the pole on top was a support for it. Overall it is pretty accurate. It is sitting outside of a museum in Charleston, South Carolina.
I ask because I saw another documentary where the guy was looking at the submarine they built before they found it as a representation he was comparing everything I was wrong
@@The139hoffman I live near Charleston. I've seen the real Hunley. I've been to the Graveyard where all 3 of the crew are interred. I've been inside a life size replica at the Hunley museum. This is the same size sir. Its fascinating that men got in that tube and hand cranked it out of the harbor. Took over 12 hours fighting the tide. Then the third crew disappeared.
From what I read in the recent book "Raising the Hunley" the spar placement is incorrect. It was actually attached to the bottom of the sub and the top had the rope used for positioning the explosive package. The rest of the exterior is pretty close to the actual.
Estou cursando Construção Naval na Fatec de Jahu-sp, gostei muito do vídeo!
Is that an actual replica or is it what they thought it would look like before they found it
They knew what it looked like already. It killed three crews and was raised 3 times.
