I just bought mine last month and honestly feel like I got a good deal, because like you said, they aren't getting any cheaper than the pre-covid price. 2003 Yellow with 20,000 original miles, all stock for 30k.
I traded my C5 Z last year for a C6 Z built by Lingenfelter. Vette City in Seneca SC gave me 22,500.00 for it for trade in. The C6 was almost 55K but only had 13,000 miles and 700HP. I'm happy all the way.
I think most people buy those wheels in 18/19, or 19/20 set up. Factory tire sizes are getting harder to find, especially the 265 fronts. I will need tires soon so Ive been on the forums a bit and am finding that out. The newer cars have the bigger wheels, so that is what tire companies are making.
Prices are already peaking. Ive seen priced trending down but I dont YET see the value like I once did. I paid 13k for my 99 manual coupe with 84k on it and Z06s were mid 20s for a decent one. The value ain’t what it used to be. Im a shade tree mechanic with formal training so building my C5 to perform like a C5z on the road and track hasn’t been difficult.
A couple of notes on Z06 wheels Alcoas (01 only) were forged Speedlines were cast OEM Speedlines are available in chrome (or whatever the finish is called, but they look chrome)
I’ve been contemplating selling mine…. 2002 EB Z06 92k miles.. I bought in early Covid too and just stupid low price, in hindsight I’m super happy for the price I paid tho. 😆 However, the New clutch is bothering my back but I love the car. (Don’t get old)
@@VetOnVettes were the same age tho 😂 I’m an AF vet also. Go navy! I really want a c7z but have been wanting a c8 again too, I had my buddy’s for a month and we did a bunch of mods to it but I got bored of it quick. Ceramic matrix grey is so hot in person .
Been actively shopping for a LOW miles low/mid mod donor for an LPE TT kit I picked up and I can say... no... the C5 Zs are dropping in sale price currently. 01 blk/blk 72k miles $17k with h/c was the best I have seen and as an admittedly low outlier. 02 22k red/blk with two wheel sets $23k. etc etc.... what I HAVE seen is a crap ton of the CE variants being sold. In just the past two weeks I have seen 11 (!) separate cars on the block. These owners typically crank the prices up to the top of the market and ask $28k to $65k in one example and, being honest, that is smoking a lot of crack for a car I just don't find attractive with the striped or the LB (faint green shade to it in direct light) color. But they are definitely commanding higher than the rest and bagging high 20s / low 30s. What I have also seen are some moderately built rides.... SC, h/c, trans, etc.... huge investment builds.... going for mid/high 20s. Those are some sick bargains.
iv been watching C5's and the base models are going up to but not at fast. a few months ago you could still find them for 10K ish, now im not seeing even base models below 15
That apex motorsports one I went to look at a week ago and it was busted, damage on every panel interior was messed up, no 2nd gear abs lights etc bad deal waste of drive for me
The C5 Z06 isn’t worth more, the dollar is worth less, hence takes more dollars to buy the same item. I bought my 2002 red/blk Z in 2019 with 7500 miles for $26,500 but I figured it was worth about $29k at the time. No better car for the price. I just lucked out.
I picked up my c5z back in March of 2024 for 21.5k @93k miles. I got a more that fair deal on the car because it had everything I wanted. 03 Electron blue, A&A V3 supercharger, LG GT2 coil over Boost cam, mgw shifter….and the list goes on. I am so happy i got the car for what I got it. Literally 14k worth of mods on the car and the car drives like new ! 15k miles on the build too.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the C5Z while cool.. isn't special and will not be a high dollar car ever. The C6Z on the other hand.. and eventually C7 manual trans cars being the last of the front engine manual cars....
I never mentioned that a C5 Z06 would be a "high dollar car". Simply they are maintaining value & will creep up with inflation. The C6 Z06 production numbers were almost identical so it will just come down to personal preference in the future as to their value. We, the consumer dictate the value & demand. Now the C7 Z06 20 years from now will be desirable especially in manual form (like you stated) but they made about 35k of those. That's a lot. However, in 20 years gasoline may be outlawed so that could be a mute point all together. 🤷🏼♂️
@@VetOnVettesthe C6Z was special in that it had the LS7 and despite its mediocre interior, the exterior is objectively good looking to most. The C5 can’t really claim to say any of that. I wouldn’t worry too much about gas being banned as it’ll be around for a loonnngggg time - longer than we’ll be alive at least as it’s integral to our energy production among other things and there’s always bio fuel that’ll get implemented if need be. You’ll find C7 manuals I think in general be sought after with manual trans cars all but disappearing
I'll never sell my C5 Z06, I've owned for 21 years, yet its good to know the value is holding up.
got mine last year for 25k with 28k miles
Just got a 03 Z06 with 100k miles for 16.5k I cant wait!!!!
Im gonna have a c5z real soon love this car is my dream car 🔥

That sounds like a good situation. Congrats 👍🤙
That’s super expensive, realistically it should be 20-23k
This is the last thing I wanted to hear since I’m still saving to try to buy one soon.
Brother same
Recession is here they will be coming down
Nice video Mark...I run the polished/clear coated Z16 Commemorative rims from the 04 Lemans Blue Z06 on my SW C5Z.
Everything you expressing I feel the exact same feeling.🤣 Love the work my friend thanks again. 😎

Funny enough I actually saw both of your vehicles as they're local to me and I was looking for a C5 Z06
@@DirtDude117 The C5 was sold in a week and went to Nashville. Someone got a great Vette.
I’m happy with my 2002 Z06. Only aftermarket mods are the intake filters and the bassani headers and exhaust. Only 9K miles.
Hopefully buying a 2004 Z06 Commemorative Edition on Saturday!
I LOVE my 01 Z. Just hit 50k miles. With heads, intake & exhaust it performs very well even in today's standards.

I love the C5Z sooooo damn much, but I'm really looking at quality C6Z's.
You can't go wrong either way 🤷🏼♂️

What about the regular c5
The red one for 40k that you said "Color is growing on me" is like 35 minutes from me.

Let me write that down "don't get old". Awesome advice 🤪. What would you get if you were to sell? 🤔

Second! Lol
Im glad I got mine a month ago.
And then you have the 15k mile one that just went for under 30k this week on BaT
Just got an 04 Machine silver with 49,000 miles for 22.6k
It’s ok the c6 z51 is a better car in almost every way.
I’ve been saving up for a year to buy one and I’ve been depressed asf seeing the prices going up :(
I got my 02 z06 with 35,000 miles for 23k last year. It’s not a bad car but interior quality is really questionable back then!
