An era of actual music, lyrics that can be understood, talented musicians and ballroom dancing gone forever but not forgotten.

I grew up in New Rochelle, and I still occasionally visit the original site of Glen Island Casino - the old building was rebuilt and it continues to function now, as a catering call and event space - I played a wedding with a jazz group there around 2019 (drummer).
I still occasionally visit the spot in the night, under the light of the moon, to trimming about the glory days of the Big Band Era, real music with real singing and great melodies drove people onto the Dancefloor and washed away the misery of wartime.

I was born in the 1950's and big band music was still being played on the radio then. Then I remember watching The Glenn Miller Story on TV one Christmas, that was it, I've been hooked ever since!!

One of the most significant elements of that remarkable period in American history called pre war was the Glenn Miller Orchestra . It was beautiful then as it still is, today.

+The Miller sound combination, though used by other orchestras, was a combination of sax and clarinet. The difference was in the arrangements penned either by Mr. Miller himself or other arrangers. The arrangements were aimed at the general population of the country, rather than only the jazz fans. Glenn Miller himself said the Glenn Miller Orchestra was not a jazz band. He considered it an entertainment orchestra, and his sales and popularity showed its appeal

Although there were a few changes early on and only just a couple later on, the band's personnel remained remarkably inatact for most of its existance. Ray Anthony left in 1941, along with Trigger Alpert, who I think, was drafted. Hal McIntyre left toform his own band, replaced by Skip Martin

Great music buy WAY too much echo!!!
The "Stereo" effect here is made with an electronic echo chamber and is not at all true stereo sound. Real stereo had two distinct channels but here we only have one channel. I have heard a stereo effect by playing the same music from two sources and using two speakers. It's really not stereo but it does spread the sound out better. I suspect there are electronic sync devices out there these days that will give this effect without the echo effect.
