@TheBeesleys99 hey James & Millie I'm from Arizona & when it comes to trying to give anymore of those old Joel & Lia videos a chance would be a waste of your time & probably no doubt upset you even more cus their sarcasm & overreacting & loudness & willful ignorance really starts to become grating on the nerves & comes off as intentionally rude & disrespectful depending on the subject....I stopped watching them long before they changed the content of their channel & finally unsubscribed from their channel after watching their "cooking" videos....I'm glad I found y'all & Lost In The Pond & The H Family channels & the mutual respect & fascination of each other after experiencing Joel & Lia cus in my opinion those two are a bad representation of all British peoples experiences & opinions of us & views of our cultures....it's nice to know it's not just us Americans being too sensitive or "triggered" as those two used to love to say or not understanding British humor or satire....I definitely applaud & appreciate your effort in being unbiased & willingness & respectfulness to give everything a fair shot at least once or twice

Imagine the impression people would get of Europe if they only visited London, Paris, and Berlin, but you must subtract any site over 250 years old. Okay, not everyone likes all foods (There are lots of American foods I don't like, too; and I am American.) But they just were blasting everything. I have to say, I've listened to more than a few of Joel and Lia's videos in the past and, at first, I found them as interesting as most observational channels. But, over time, it began to bug me that they spent most of their time on things like shopping, eating at chain restaurants, and going to touristy places in the U.S. while making broad, general comments about the country and its people based on these superficial things. The "highlight" for me was their visit to Philadelphia, since I grew up just outside the city and know the area well. They *did* manage to get to a local diner, which was good, but then spent the rest of the time shopping for clothes in generic stores as if they couldn't shop for clothes in the U.K. at very similar places. (Maybe it was the price? I don't know.) They did manage to put together a video where they visited Independence Hall, where our Declaration of Independence was written and signed back in 1776. I was really eager to hear their impressions, but they seemed to be incredibly bored and couldn't wait to get back to shopping! I was dumbfounded. They finally did something of substance, but had absolutely nothing of interest to say about it. As I said, very superficial people with no curiosity.

They come across, to Americans, and I guess at least 2 Brits :) as those snotty Uber-hip Londoners I met there. NOTHING is as good, NO-ONE is as sophisticated. Well Joel and Lita here's a clue:
The World's LARGEST ECONOMY ain't going to miss you-at all.
What REALLY turned me off was their snotty (sorry no other word for it) run through a Wal-Mart at hunting season. Hunting, especially duck hunting is HUGE in the South so Wal-Mart had...hunting stuff. Putting on hunting gear and posing like hicks from BFE and THEN surprised the store banned them from filming. Also going to eat and not doing the basic stuff Americans and Canadians would do like put HOT SAUCE ON EGGS, and JAM/SYRUP with butter on pancakes and waffles. Then as Millie pointed out make sarcastic comments.Yeah says it all.
I DO give them a pass at the range, that rangemaster should've been FIRED on the spot. Putting newbies by THEMSELVES? Giving them .380/9mm instead of a .22 to learn on? WTF? UNLESS before filming started they wanted him to do that to highlight how careless those unsophisticated Americans are with their evil guns. After seeing this with your commentary-that would not surprise me.
As others have said, and I commented on their pages, Just visiting Austin, NYC, and Ashville is NOT visiting the US.

As a southerner I thought that was hilarious. In Dec we have 80 degrees one day and it's below the freezing the next. Not to mention those odd times known as spring and fall when we wake up and need a jacket, by lunch it's nice and comfy outside, by 4 or 5 it's sweltering hot and by 10 pm you want a coat. Our rule is if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes it will change 😊

    • @hollyheikkinen4698

Northern Minnesota weather is in it's own category! I live in Northeastern Minnesota on the Iron Range - only about 20 miles from the state record holder -60°F ---- historically, it gets quite chilly up here in winter for months at a time. It's been a bit more unpredictable in recent years though. Duluth is about 40 square miles as a whole & the elevation changes from down by Lake Superior at the shoreline & up the hill where there can easily be a 50 degree difference between the top of the hill & the bottom - & it can change drastically when the wind changes direction since the water in Lake Superior is so cold in summer & warmer than the air in winter.
The US has had noticeable weather abnormalities in recent years - California is in the path of a Hurricane & hurricanes don't generally happen on that side of the country. Hurricane season has been quite harsh on the East Coast recently too. Tornado season is worse too. Where I am, we have been having warmer temperatures more often & we've been in a drought for several years now.

I think Americans are tired of seeing non Americans talking about how we don't do things like their country does. We are not Germany. We are not the U.K. We are not France. We are America. Stop comparing us to the rest of the world. We wouldn't expect Spain or say Norway to be like us. We have our own culture. Our own ways. It makes America who we are. It is frustrating how because we talk to total strangers at a table next us it upsets Europeans. We treat everyone like family. We are curious about people from other countries and are honestly wanting to chat about culture. And get to know people. It's just how we are. We genuinely are freindly people. And would welcome you as family. It is just who we are as a whole. Please stop judging us. They say something nice then contradict it in the next scentence. And put a negative on what they originally said they liked. We have bigger mouth cavities? So we talk louder? Really? Ugh. I give up. Better be quiet now. Before my bigger mouth gets me in trouble.😂

Portion sizes: Nobody ever said one person has to eat everything on the plate. Most places will happily give you an extra plate to share. Note: I picked up on "3 pounds a drink" because in Tucson McD's has "all you can drink" for $1.25.
Friendliness: I live the rest of the year (besides the part near Tucson) in San Francisco where we get a lot of tourists and I often see them pouring over their cell phones, and sometimes a tourist map and when I see that I often ask if they need help finding something. Sometimes they seem very shocked and I am wary of that because I understand when a stranger talks to them the first thought is probably I'm a panhandler.
Home sizes: Not everybody lives in a suburban McMansion and our city apartments and, yes, flats (in SF that usually means one floor of an older, often Victorian, home that's been divided) don't seem any bigger than those in Britain. It's city vs country. City homes are city homes.
TV/Movies: I can't imagine American TV/Movie production without British actors.
Cost of transit: A NY 7-day metro card is currently $33 which is only slightly cheaper than London.
Accent: Joel and Lia have what I think is a "posh" British accent and, as an American, I find that attractive but when you get into certain British accents like "Geordie" or Glaswegian I can hardly understand it and it seems much more extreme than anything in the US.
Weather: It is absurd to suggest that the US doesn't have more varied weather than the UK and some parts of it can be as unpleasant as anything in Britain. The Northwest is famous for rainy, dreary weather not unlike Britain. To my taste, the Southwest and Southeast are unbearable in summer (in fact, although I grew up there, I could no longer tolerate most of the eastern half of the country without air conditioning which we didn't have when I grew up).
