After his JSA run, Johns Green Lantern is the definitive run of the character and his mythology. I specially love how Johns portrayed Hal and Sinestro rivalry, giving GL enemy much more complexity and understantable motivation. His lines to Jordan in Johns final issue are very emotional.
With James Gunn now apparently rebooting DC film universe, I really hope he uses Geoff Johns run as the base for the GL films. I would love to see trilogy adapting stories like Green Lantern Secret Origin and Sinestro Corp War (as for Blackest Night, I think should be DCEU equivalent of IW and Endgame, a big crossover with GL and all DC heroes trying to save the universe from the Black Lanterns).
Amazing video dude. This run was truly amazing and by far the beat green lantern run out there. Geoff johns definitely took this character to a new height and gave us a comic run to remember.
GL is one of those runs I keep on meaning to pick up but never do. I've got no excuse really apart from Marvel stop releasing so many books😂 It sounds like grandiose epic storytelling and you made some fantastic points during the video, Cannot lie you've tempted me even more. Although Johns was allegedly toxic with regard to film projects, his writing is nearly unparalleled; Sinestro Corps War, Flashpoint, New 52 (all JL members, especially Aquaman imo) have all been addicting reads- its hard to stop yourself from reading cover to cover.
this is a good jumping off point for people that don't think hal jordan is either interesting or good of a character (myself included). hal's story started off really rough here with him having to deal with the specter and parallax but it quickly showed why he's one of the best lanterns to exist or probably even the best lantern to exist. it was a really good read that showed the best of hal while making it digestible for modern day audiences
Even though Geoff Johns has been problematic over the past couple of years you cannot defy that his GL RUN IS THE DEFINITIVE RUN OF THE CHARACTER he expanded the lore have more depth to characters like Kyle guy John and hal. ( My favorite GL is John Stewart) he also reinvented sinestro into an anti hero. It's the only Geoff Johns book I will reread but not the arc with Ethan can sciver on art

Explains the previous history of The Corps and everything leading up to Rebirth 2. Has some of the best DC storylines to date. 3. Introduces new characters, worlds and Lantern Corps

Geoff's GL run was so good, his final story is basically the series finale of GL where the main characters get their ending, meaning you can write off the less talented subsequent writers that picked the run when he left.
I’ve only just bought Volume 1 and I’m halfway though the book and holy shit is it awesome. The artwork *is* phenomenal I love Ethan Van Sciver’s and Ivan Reis’ artwork The storylines so far are amazing and I cannot wait for Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night. Best $200 (AUD) I’ve ever spent
I’ve never read 3 whole Omnis that fast in my life. Incredible run, at least until New 52 started and things got weird continuity-wise. Because of that, I now stop the third omnibus after Brightest Day.
The only thing I don't like about the run is that DC didn't let that ending remain canon. The ending of his run was so darn good that I still haven't read any of the stuff that have come after.

Get the Omni’s man They are big, they are expensive and they look daunting to read but trust me it’ll be worth it Don’t worry about the Blackest Night Omni because that mainly collects the tie ins and GL Omnibus 2 collects the main Blackest Night Story. You can if you want to but personally I would stick with the 3 Omni’s and The Brightest Day omni So your collection should look like this GL Omni 1 GL Omni 2 Brightest Day GL Omni 3

It is impossible write Green Lantern today without using anything of this run, Johns did a phenomenal job. Ps: I would like if Kyle were the main character from this run, i like Hal, but the comics needed move forward, Kyle was the Green Lantern.
The rainbow lanterns are STUPID. Sinestro got his ring from the weaponeers of Qward and it was yellow because that was Green Lanterns weakness. Star Sapphire was the only one with that power. I must also mention that isn't Johns the guy that created the idiotic speed force. He is why I quit reading Green Lantern who was tied with my other favorite Flash (Barry Allen) Who was supposed to be forever dead, due to his sacrifice in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Geoff Johns is what got me into Green Lantern. My all time favorite series for any comic,, is the Black Lantern run. It swept my imagination away.

I would've gone the trade route but they stopped making them before getting to the end so get the omnis.
Omibuses are the best way to get into DC runs. A little pricey but thr omnibuses are well made. They feel like an event onto themselves
