Err no its not... wave soldering is old and is how most stuff is made.. Like the boards in your tv for example.. Only difference is the pcb is on a track and run over the tanks whilst the tanks have a wave generated on the surface of the solder, as the wave hits the boards it solders them.. Next board is pulled along on the track... same again.. The example shown is how low tech a smaller batch can be done cheaper, whilst a bigger batch would justify setting up the machines..
The dross (the thin layer of crap on top of the solder) is supposed to be moved aside with a blade or something, that material is oxidized and bad for solder joints. Also just placing straight down into solder bath is not optimal, ideally you'd roll it over the surface (as if the pcb is slightly bent on a big round wheel)

@@kuro758I figured there would be someone to disagree. But that my friend is what’s known as a cold solder. Cold solder points are weak and usually break the connection.
I think most electronics aren't made like this nowdays, instead they cut down as much as they can on materials and on the design, rather than cutting on the production process (like on this video). So unless its a 70s cheapo product or a modern temu special, modern electronics suck because modern tech is too flimsy, too compact, with too much cost savings on materials.
@@SnorkadactylWhile cold solder joints aways has been a common issue, modern systems die mostly because of non-avaiable highly complex ICs and SOCs, or plain bad electronical design to rush out the "bext big thing"

I can smell the solder vapours (vapours of lead and tin) through the video.
Is lead dangerous? 😂
Yeah and lung damage😂
The visible fumes are from the rosin.
This is really dangerous, right? I have seen through a dear friend of mine how bad lead is.
The lead and the tin do not become a vapour, they are a metal and this is not hot enough…. The fumes are the flux (still not good)

you ever soldered an entire pcb by hand? what about 100 like this guy?
Not new at all. I've done those for mostly 20y ago till now. It's possible only for single-sided pcbs with through-hole components.
