I wound up with both. I purchased the G90 first and then the X6100 when it happened to go on sale for a great price. They are both great radios for HAMS who also like to tinker and experiment. Particularly the X6100 because you can hack into it. I plan on getting a Icom 705 and a Yaesu 710 for more mainstream use in the future -- but the G90 and the X6100 will always be my go to radios for experimentation.
I'm looking at both. One thing I've heard is the X6100 gets really hot from warm to cooking an egg hot. Have you ran it this issue. Of course I like the bigger screen on the X6100, but I've heard good things about the G90 as well. I should decide by the end of the month and would like people's input.
My FTDX10 is lonely under his embroidered cover in the shack. Jealous of the X6100, G90, GNR-1, GY03 and XPA125B that get tinkered with in all combinations indoors and out.
I have both and I'm partial to the X6100 because the larger lcd, familiar Yaesu radio settings GUI, direct cabling to amp and computer eliminating the DE-19 and CE-19 interfaces. Not ready to sell the G90 though as its fun too.
I have the G90. A wonderful rig. Cw is good. Tried digital modes works well. You can link any interface to the rear aux socket . Provides rx and tx audio plus the ptt. Knock up a simple interface. Cat works well.
Yes I have the g90 and I probably should have gotten the 6100 but now what I'm going to do is buy the Gsoc face attachment for the g90 it's a 7 inch touch screen and I think but not for sure but I think it works almost just like the 6100 and it's only around 4.30-4.50 us and hopefully and I pray it will then work just like the 6100 the only thing is it won't be portable because it still doesn't have the built-in battery but I'm ok with that for now well have an amazing blessed day and thank you for all of your videos you do an awesome job and you have taught me a lot over the last year or so I'm a newbie lol
I have the G90 and frankly it's a very good little radio. However, because of its' form factor , the need for outside power and the VERY small screen I ended up stopping using it. I'm likely to get a 6100 soon.
I like the layout and. Full band coverage of the 6100. But the g90 has 20 watts which is badly needed some days on SSB. So I wanted both the 20 watts and 6 meters so I got the FX-4CR on order. De n5vwn

The X6100 has more development potential. It can make an excellent radio for mobile work. I'm working in this direction 😉

The X6100 has a great screen but you will miss the 20 Watts also the g90 is a much more solid proper Radio .
