  • Steel moulds for tetrapods by the Russian manufacturer M-Konstruktor are characterized by:
    • a wide range of sizes-from 0.7 to 50 tonnes (a weight of a concrete tetrapod)
    • easy demoulding due to modular construction
    • no concrete slurry leakage
    • excellent quality of finished products confirmed by Russian and foreign partners
    • proven logistics and fast delivery to EU and EEU countries and any regions of the Russian Federation

    A tetrapod is a solid concrete product consisting of four cones joined together at an angle of 109°. Tetrapods are used worldwide as breakwaters, primarily for building moles required at every seaport. Tetrapods protect the coastline against destruction, erosion and landslides.
    We manufacture steel moulds for tetrapods in compliance with the high standards of our European customers. Our implemented projects include the delivery of tetrapod steel moulds for the construction of the Caspian port in Aktau, as well as to Gdansk for the construction of the Northern port; the delivery of steel moulds for the construction of a couple of seaports on the Baltic coast (in Kaliningrad and Leningrad regions). And the furthest delivery destination was the Kuril Islands.

    The stabilopod is a concrete structure with a tetrahedral shape (equifacial tetrapod) used in hydrotechnical works. Engineer Mircea Ulubeanu, Dr. engineer Mircea Lateș, researchers from ISCH Bucharest and designers from IPTANA participated in its design. That invention was patented at OSIM (invention patent no. 56,171) under the name "concrete block for the defense of constructions exposed to waves".[1][2]
    Harbor breakwater protected with stabilopods.
    Structures similar to the stabilopod are:
    Tetrapod - created in 1950 by Pierre Danel and Paul Anglès d'Auriac in the Dauphinois d'Hydraulique Laboratory (now Artelia) in Grenoble, France;
    Modified Cube - USA 1959;
    Established - UK 1961;
    Akmon - The Netherlands (Netherlands) 1962;
    Dolos - South Africa 1963;
    Seabee - Australia 1978;
    Accropoda - France 1981;
    Hollow Cube - Germany 1991;
    A-jack - USA 1998;
    Xblok - The Netherlands (Netherlands) 2001.
    The stabilopods were used both as a "wave protection mantle" for the piers of the Port of Constanța and for coastal protection works along the Romanian coast.

    Mole?

      “A mole is a massive structure, usually of stone, used as a pier, breakwater, or a causeway separating two bodies of water. ... The defining feature of a mole, however, is that water cannot freely flow underneath it, unlike a true pier.”

    You mean mold not mole.

      I think he meant "mole" in the sense that a single tetrapod is very small compared to the total amount of tetrapods needed to build a breakwater barrier.
      It would have been cool if he showed the amount of tetrapods submerged underwater
