You should read Refugee by Alan Gratz! I used it as a novel read in my classroom for several years. The students kept begging to continue reading the next chapter. It keeps them on their seats but also opens their eyes to understanding what history was like in three different historical time periods. So so so good!!

I love this video, actually, I love it all your get together family videos! It’s so funny for me to see the fireworks lit from you guys! We live in Ca. We are about a 10 min drive from the beach and it is illegal to lite fireworks from anywhere in CA because it is so dry here, even in our area. Your area is so green, I’m envious and I literally thought some of the kids were holding up sodas that they had decided to get at the firework stand because I had no clue what fireworks looked liked. I thought it was a string attached to something, lol!

I recommend the Ranger in Time book series. Ranger is a dog that has adventures in different settings like the Oregon trail or Ancient Rome.
Alan Gratz books are really great and I always recommend them to my 5th grade history fans/students.

The Alan Gratz books are really good historical readings for young kids. He has a whole series we would read to our fifth graders when I taught.

My favourite moving is called Loving! It’s a true story based off of Loving V Virginia case. Highly recommend!! I would say it’s appropriate for the other kids to watch for sure. Def a good history lesson for all ages.

It's sad cause I never see Sheri's family there (I mean her parents & siblings) I know they don't live close so it's hard for them to just drive and the kids, are all getting older and going different directions .. Sheri can be there is because of school and where she is living I just hope everyone is happy and doing well!!!
I hope you all had an amazing 4th of July... I celebrated the 4th with my husband home frome the the nursing home and is still kicking it with us.. We didn't think he was going to make it... But God has other plans... Our dog however wasn't so happy.. Poor girl we had to give her meds she is only a year old and she trembles everytime she hears one.. It's been about a week and she still won't go outside on her own... Sad😢.. But with lots encouragement & treats she will come back around...

"War Horse" is a Steven Spielberg movie, very well done, I don't like war movies that involve animals they're just too intense, nevertheless, War Horse is excellent, if you can find "Father Goose" with Gary Grant it's a gem, it's about a group of young, French girls with their headmistress, that end up on an island where GG is a spy for us for finding Japanese planes, he's vulgar, a slob, it's like mixing oil and water, it came out around 1968.
In nj you don’t see these trampolines. Your home owners ins won’t allow them. When you see them it is because people sneak them in their yards. If they get caught it is a big fine……I know because my neighbor got hit with a big fine.

I heard Bonnie mention World War II my Grandpa was a POW in WWII for about 5 months. He wrote a lot of letters to his parents and my mom just came across them the other day and read some of them to me. He was SUCH a wonderful man.

Amazing movies but very graphic and very sad to watch are Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan. I would not watch SL with the kids before you watching it first.
