I don't think you'll ever misplace something like you did with your resource collector again, but in case you do, you can place a platform under your seat for when you go underground. Then, when you pick up the resource collector, you can pull yourself up with your lift while you're carrying the collector
or just put resource collector on a platform
You don't even need a platform. He could have just attached the resource collector to the beam of blocks.

@@Blakutikall you need to do is carry a chest down there, drop it, then build vacuum pipes off of it into the chemical pond. You can build off of the loose chest because it's not connected to the HQ
you can even build off the floor next to the chemical pond, you can just leave a pump and pipes down there and just bring an empty chest@@_somerandomwoman

8:15 there is a chemical pool inside the Forterra HQ basement. Since I haven't figure out how to set up a pumping station inside the building, I just collect the chemicals in buckets.
You can build on the side of the pool that's closer to the door.

For the mining vehicle you can use the WASD converter from the compact computer to make it easier to drive instead of buttons
speaking of... i havent tried that option yet, what can it do other than that? like specific key press controls or something?
And make it from normal metal because that is easier to get and scrap to metal ratio is 20 to 25 so he would've got more bang for his buck
Things don't get destroyed when they fall down, it probably respawned way too high up, that it bounced somewhere.
Happened to me. Full resource collector got deleted from my world as i put it under the world.

I just use my hand drill for mining. Then i built a vehicle with resource collectors and a refiner. Also the refiner gives 20 blocks instead of 15 when doing it manually.

Hey scrapman, the mission you are doing is pretty much it, I would like your take on the ending though, but I just want to say survivals and multiplayer Mondays are genuine fun, you do whatever you want, making a farm or a floating vehicle or some crazy shananigans, we just love your content. Just don’t get burnt out.

Scrapman, you can use the SMPC (computed component) to do the logic. It has WASD converter so you dont even need the buttons and it will be much easier, you can also trade for bees wax from bill
It’s a compact computer in crashlander, and it also can control engines if you can figure out how to use it.

I have a suggestion to make it so your oil at the gas station doesn't fill up too quickly. You could divert it to also work on turning something to power several large battery generators.

I've said in a previous video, you will want to talk to Bill, Justin, Ivan, and Mark about any available quests before finishing the Antenna, otherwise their side quests will get locked out. So a thing to focus on would be farming for Justin's quests.
There is the chemical pool in the HQ, you can build off the side closer to the door, so you can pump it in a chest and carry it out.
I guess for the refineries you could link multiple together to gain a higher yield per time spent refining. It would be pretty awesome to have like 16 refineries lining the inside of a box big enough for a collector to be pushed thru to have a bunch of blocks in an instant.
In my crashlander I use mining vehicle with 6 small drills and it's way faster than the big drill. Every one of these is on suspension for better contact with the rock
I have only 2 that swing down on arms from each side and meet at a 45 to each other with a slight downward angle (also using suspension), works perfectly however the more drills, the quicker it'd be.
you should build a wood mill on the waters edge to automatically chop and harvest trees floating in the water. and have a tree farm down the river a bit. and you could make a tug to push a big raft of logs down the river to the mill near base
personally, i like the hand-drill bc it reminds me of Minecraft more, pls make Minecraft videos (possible modded like create mod)

It would have been wonderful if the developer had offered a quest to get a blueprint of the antenna to view all the essential materials in numbers, so the mining process could be focused and simpler.

I built on a peninsula for my starter and thought the same. However the wolves spawn under the water and somehow manage to walk along the seafloor and not die..? Not sure if that's a bug or if that's meant to be but makes zero sense to me. Was creepy as hell when I first saw it.
Doubling down on this do not build a farm near water the spawn radius of the wolves is huge and they do spawn in water. You will think you are done your raid moving on to other things only to find a wolf you didnt know about chewing through your crops.
@@synbiosbladeOn the world im playing, Bill's house spawned on an island and i set up shop on top of his house with the farms between the shed and house. Ive had dozens of raids and only ever get a couple of mobs that spawn on land. never seen any coming out of the water, but ive never paid to much attention either. Maybe ive just got insanly lucky with the world seed or something 🤷♂
@@leprachaun69 very interesting I considered doing an island base but after running into the peninsula issues I abandoned the idea and went with an open space near a small pond.

Edit: Couldn't make sense on how they got around my fence and thought they swam around.
After another farming session, I went down for glue and oil and saw the mongrels walking slowly but with no drama towards my base...
Scrap man you should use smaller wheels for the front of your mining vehicle, this will point the drill closer to the floor, and this should give you constant contact with what ever you're trying to drill, if you still don't have enough contact, then make the back of the car higher off the ground which points the drill down further :)
For your mining vehicle you could angle the car downwards. So maybe the back tires have them a block higher than the front tires. This will pitch the drill down to get more resources on the ground.

Minigame idea water hungry hippos. You and other have 1 resource collector as a goal and players swim and knock floating resources into collectors
when you make a bigger and better mining vehicle. I think you should add 2 drills to the front facing down at a slight angle. i think it would not just look cool, but might also break the rocks better. also add off road suspension to the wheels and maybe also the drill. just a thought
its funny how kan is focusing all of his efforts on his base while scrapman everything in his vehicles
I think the refinery is actually almost twice as fast as refining by hand in vanilla, (if you watch an old survival video, you can see how slow it is) but crashlander almost halved the hand refining time, but the refinery time stayed the same. My speculation for the reason is that I don’t think the crashlander team has an animator, (my reason for thinking this is because the custom automated crafting stations don’t have animations, and the animal animations are fairly simple compared to the craftbot and refinery) and changing the refine time for the refinery would mean changing the animation.
Steer the drill using the redundant steering wheel. Also, having the drill on a free bearing so it grazes the ground using the drills own weight works well.
Just remove the drill when normal driving.
Only on the first minute where you are talking about saving your mining vehicle on a lift, assuming that this works the way I think it should, would it be possible to save a small platform for all of your workbenches/crafting bots? That way you don’t need to place each individual one down and you can get familiar with where each workbench is over time. I think it would be a great idea but, I havent played this mod or scrap mechanic in some time now.
Never mind, they would take up your inventory space. It would only be useful if your changing locations
26:00 when you have your stuff in a chest you can go ahead and remove it by the lift. You wont get the things that are in the chest. But if you spawn it back in your stuff will be back in the chest
Man, scrap man needs to play The Long Dark to help teach him some inventory management skills. Has nothing to do with the type of content he does on the channel, but damn that game makes you figure out what you NEED to take with you, and what you WANT to take with you.
I'm not sure if someone mentioned it last episode. but couldn't you pump the gas from the craft bot into a chest, then filter it into the refueler. Giving it a much larger reservoir to pull from.
The quest from Bill to kill bears gives beeswax that can help with the antenna.

That's the fun part about building mining vehicles, figuring out a way to make them efficient
I think your end goal should be to see what is the maximum level raid you can spawn and defend against.
ScrapMan! I know you always say you don't like the back seat gaming, but I gotta say this because of the amount of material grinding Crashlander has: the refinery gives 5 more blocks per resource rod than hand refining, if I remember correctly
Framed Bed has one more durability than regular bed both beds are available for crafting on the same crafting bench one after another in the craft menu screen.
You can take your buckets to the HQ jump into the chemical pool at the HQ basement collet chemicals in them then make them into regular chemicals in the chemical crafting Bench over and over again to get a steady chemical supply for now until you set a Vaccum pump by the chemical pond at the HQ.

As ludicrous as it would be, I think it would be funny to make a miner with several refine bots, to try and refine as fast as you can mine lol.
You can never refine as fast as you can mine because once you get enough refiners your brain goes "Come on, just one more drill!"

My vehicle is based and built around 2 refiners and a single resource collector. 2 blades on a single level 1 piston to extend out front and tilt down slightly and 2 arms with drills on them that come down and meet together in the middle at a 45 to each other on suspension for good contact. Works perfectly and only cost me 1 refinery, all the rest I traded for (besides the piston I think).
Edit: Mine isn't tank steer though but it does use an electric engine. I use 2 dolly wheels at the back that steer and is surprisingly maneuverable.

another resource collector to be able to switch them out, suspension, and a drill with an adjustable angle. I bet with those changes the big drill would likely be more efficient than the hand drill overall!
I suggest upgrading all your benches to bots and building a crafting loop before you're next build project. It will make your life so much easier.
You should break up rocks with the hand drill then refine them down to resource rods with the large drill
If I remember correctly, you can change the function of the computers to a WASD converter. It's easier to drive with the normal controls by far.

Surprise plot twist: the refine bot learns the power of tape, and turns into a tape bot.
Perhaps modify your mining vehicle so that the drill protudes more from the main frame. One or two blocks forward and perhaps a block down, if possible, should make it way easier to make contact with it.
@ScrapMan The blueprint system from Scrap Mechanic Survival (that is used in the Crashlander Mod) has still some flaws. You need those things for building in your inventory, but if you save a blueprint with a filled chest, the chest will be filled when your build is on the elevator. You don't need to have it, it is generated from thin air. When deleting, you will lose what is inside a crate. If your blueprint contains straight pipes you can't spawn it in. Scrap Mechanic generates for every pipe length a single ID different from the straight pipe when it is in your inventory.
When it comes to the lost collector, he should have spawned back in the air again, but it seems Scrap Mechanic does sometimes forget to spawn it. Those stones underground, I had it, that they were falling down, but didn't come down again. After some time 10 minutes or so, they suddenly fell out of the sky. Once I even was hit and knocked out.
double the amount of drills and put those on the springs so they move a bit :D put drills front of ur wheels so they make a path and all the stuff goes to middle and collector collects :)
Since you can build templates from your lift, can you create a template of a static structure you place around a rock emplacement that automatically mines it completely?
26:00 this neat little trick also works for collectors and all the autocrafters, as well as the battery in the quarry..
You should aim the drill lower with a locked bearing and also make your mining vehicle a lot heavier so your drills stays down
Could you please make a Spaceship (Giant Spaceships, maybe complexity mod) battle with all your friends where u don’t like have to fly away or do sharp turns but you have the choice to do a interceptor or a giant battleship?
Put the drill on the mining vehicle on a bearing that you can control to pitch the drill downwards like 15-20 deg, that will make you drill everything left on ground easy, maybe put the drill on a suspension too, to make it easier to maintain contact, I tried out myself it is working really well
the collector was somewhere, things definitely respawn like normal. my guess is it bounced, maybe it hit a tree or something and got deflected by geometry.
There is an exponential increase between the length of the video and my happiness.

The big drills is faster than the hand held by 2x as it takes 2 hits to take out a chunk and 1 hit to take out a node unlike the hand drill it takes 5-4 hits to take ot a chunk and 2 hits to take out a node
If ch2 came out during your crashlanders play through, would you just switch to ch2? Or alternate
Refinery behind the collector on the mining vehical so it works on keeping it empty even tho its slow. You have battery storage on your truck and 2 free spaces when you pick it up so it may be possible.
On the number of collectors, 3 or 4 would be good. 1 on drill, 1 on refiner and 1.or 2 in inventory so you do not need to run after rolling logs.😊
Later on ScrapMan could make a special episode: searching for The Original resource collector
The resource collector probably slingshot across the underground so finding it would be quite a challenge, especially considering we do not know which way it was fired.
I think if you made 1 more big drill and then put them side by side a couple blocks forward you wouldn't have to be quite as precise. I think it would work well :D
You need some pistons on the back wheels of the miner to facilitate aiming down a bit better.
Isn’t the quarry pretty flat ground at the bottom? That new mining vehicle would be super efficient there.
Aside from the waste in the 4 electric engines I like the new piece of equipment added to the convoy 😂
you could angle the drill down so the edge is more parallel to the ground so it hits the stuff on the ground
i think the computerblock (don't remember its name, the one you need for crafting controllers) can be used to trigger WASD-signals, if you connect it to your driverseat. This way you don't need buttons to drive the vehicle. there are different modes, i think it could be possible to make a tank steering with only 2 engines.

Scrapman, if you are going to a nomad style, don't make the bot's version of the crafting stations because they are only used for automatic crafting.
they dont give you better crafting options only the smeltary one.

The benefit about using the refineries is that the refineries have a higher yield than manual refiners, about a 33% increase per rod.
Scrap, you have an upgraded refine tool from the Crashlander mod is why it's so fast.
farm on the island is semi-good, because the animals swim. also, you can trade beets for coal at Bill's
i think you need to put the engine in the front of the mining vehicle so it's more stable at uphills (for downhill you still have the large drill to keep it stable). also dont put the resource collector on the mining vehicle blueprint so if you lost the resource collector, you are still able to rebuild the mining vehicle
Using both the beeeeeg drill and the hand drill beeeeeeg drill to break down the bigger chunks and the hand drill for breaking it down into rods
I think the refinery has a higher output (per rod) than doing it by hand. Its expensive, but two refineries will do a better job of keeping up with you.
since the materials go back in your inventory, you can build a second mining vehicle with the same components. make another configuration that is good for ground contact.
You're not supposed to put the recourse collector under the ground, you're supposed to bring the rock nodes up THEN break them down and collect them
Just realized you can cheese crafting by creating blue prints of things and just summon them on the lift if you have the resources.
Looks like the best be is to use the hand drill but have a collector and refinery next to you.
scrap i hope u read this. you should install a up and down mod on your drill in short an elbow so it can go up and down
You should probably armor the logic on the mining vehicle, if it gets destroyed you can't move anymore
hey Scrapman, you might wanted to avoid any thick forest... on my way back after getting the battery from crashed ship.. I got stuck, and I encountered a LAVA BEETLE/BUG.. it got a block on top of it.. almost kill me and destroy my car... I choose to retreat 😌
Loving that kAN has a truck with wedges and ScrapMan is only blocks... seems embarassing :)
