I also had the Original Aurora Model Kit as well as the Original Pan Am Space Clipper from 2001 A Space Odyssey. I think I stupidly sold them both for not much of anything at a Flea Market in the late 70's. What a dope I was.
I picked up a bagged one at a yard sale a friend from one of my model clubs had, Paid 5 bucks for it, the Aurora one with the clear top. Complet kit except for the instruction sheet.A fun project and a change of pace from the car and ships I usually build. Good video.
The Altantis and Aurora model kits are pretty much the same with one differance, the Aurora version came with two lids, one was clear plastic so you could see inside when displayed.
I bought the repop, having built the original way back when. Still have the clear top somewhere, but it's pretty yellowed by now. Used pieces from both to have more figures and "regeneration stations". Also had used some of the figures to establish scale for other projects, notably the DS9 Runabout. Reshaped the control panel for use in a Legion Time Bubble project.
I remember the clear top as well on the Aurora kit. I now have the Monogram kit and it is simply called “The U.F.O.” With no mention or reference to the show at all. The five lights in the “landing gear” are also not clear but molded in transparent red.
@@ScaleModelKitReview Had this one the FS, Seaview, LIS, Spindrift just about the whole AUROUA kit line from 1964 to 1970. went to college in 1972 and MOM tossed the contents of boxes to trash said it was KID STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been gorging on classic sci-fi model builds on UA-cam recently and I've noticed (as you can see at the start of this video) that the big red pulsing light in the middle of this ship should be the strongest light by far, the green orbs around it should only glow softly like luminous paint lit by UV, yet all the lighting rigs I've seen have those as big bright LEDs. Seems a bit off.
I built one of these from the Monogram issue in the late 80's or early 90's what is that music you are using for an end theme ? it's pretty cool ; I like it.
I have that model . I've had it since the 1990"s. I spray painted it light metallic silver. The fusion core I painted red.The small orbs I painted green. The small slit lights I did in red. My landers are in the down position. The insides are detailed as well.( and I still have it.)here in 2020.

I remember building this kit in the late 60's, I was about 9 or 10. Paid about $1.00 or so.
Thank you for watching.

Greets, Richard
Thank you.
I was able to find a built up Aurora kit with a nice original box for about $50 on eBay. I'm in the process of painting it now.
Very nice
I've got two built Aurora saucers - been in the wardrobe for 45 years now!! 🙂
I thought the original issue( TV show 1968) had only solid silver light lenses that you had to paint (?). I knew it had optional clear top.
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!

The model seemed like it was slightly larger in '68. Maybe it was because I was smaller.
The 1977 release not only included the extra figures from the Dick Tracy Space Coupe but also the lunar ground plate.
Thats cool
Awsome got to get one I have the old monogram repo this is way cooler
Thanks for watching!

Great idea, LEDs can be dimmed also for the same effect.
My brother built this model back in the late 60's. It came with 2 roof parts.
One was clear.

John Bockelie Nice I built mine back in the 1960s I’m showing my age
Shame the one for the 60s gave you a clear top also.
I agree, thanks for watching.
$41.00 is awful steep price.
I agree, but its a piece that most sci-fi modelers want.
better kit 10" 1/48 scale... www.modelermagic.com/?p=82613
How can I acquire a review sample?
Well, I don't know... you can buy a kit on the link I sent you... Plus search Mike Makkreel Invaders on youtube.. Hendrik
@@Wrongway346 I'd prefer a sample so I can review it here.
well you'll have to buy one.. hendrik
$40 bucks! Are you kidding me? Back in 1960's I paid $1 something for the same thing!
Nothing is cheap these days.
