Hey Dave, I know this post is 4 years old but it is still having an impact in ham radio! I’m proof! I am binge watching all of the “Ask Dave” videos while also going through your General license study videos as I’m preparing to test for my General license. Thanks so much for all you do for Amateur Radio!! And thanks for being a great online Elmer!! 73
I concur with Dave, join the ARRL and get informed. As a member of several different organizations, the QST mag is the monthly periodical that I look forward to the most! Keep up the great work Dave! Love those pics at the end of each of your videos too! If you ever make your way towards Pagosa, give me a shout, I would love to buy you a cup of coffee! 73 de ka0rsn

+Adrian Higgins You can use an inner drive loop with an adjustable capacitor for a fine range but you will have to change the size of the loop diameter for each band because a loop is generally narrow and doesn't have a lot of gain.
+Adrian Higgins I have no experience with magnetic loop antennas. They're quite small compared with their electrical counterparts. They're also very high Q, which means tuning must be precise. They also require rather large high-voltage capacitors. The ARRL sells a book called Magnetic Loop Antenna (here ). I've not read it. I think it was published overseas. Also, see July, 2013, QST, p51ff, for an article on magnetic loop antennas. Good luck! 73, Dave, KEØOG
+David Casler Im doing LCWO.net right now as we speak. I will get there, just have to put in the time. I want to do it out of respect of the ham operators of the past and the history of where it began. I have decided to get to a point where I can send and receive at 15 wpm at 5 effective speed before I upgrade to extra. I also am going to do this before I do any digital. Figure to get the roots done first, then on to other aspects. KC1DVL Thanks for the vids by the way, they are helpful.
+1958johndeere620 Thanks for bringing lcwo.net to my attention. Ask Dave 13 will be about CW, and I'll use LCWO.net as a resource. I would encourage you to get on the air and have CW QSOs. It really sharpens the concentration! 73, Dave, KEØOG
+David Casler Your welcome, will look forward to the 13th installment. I am keeping my eye out for a good used inexpensive straight key. Until then i'm only on the computer training. I have tried to listen to slow speed qso's but i'm not quite there yet.
I was married to a girl from Arkansas, and it took me a whil to get her not to grate my teeth with Yall's and are you playing CWYA. After a couple of years she was proud to be speaking like Lady Penelopy. I preferred her southern drawl, but not Yall's. Takes all sorts, eh (grins). 73

Hi Dave,
You've got some great info here! A happy New Year to you and yours!

hi Dave, thanks for showing the video. how to make a magnetic loop for multi band 20,40,80 ?

do a video on linear amplifier and how to use them, how delicate those are
I'll add this to the topics list. 73
The maximum number of hams in wich bands in HF? I think they are in mainly in (40M,20M) in (SSB, CW)
Yes, but also add 30m for CW. 80m is often open at night for local communications and lots of nets meet there. 73
I'm trying to learn cw. Not easy for me. I can copy, just at a very slow rate. One character at a time.
+1958johndeere620 That's where everybody starts! Try a CW trainer such as the G4FON Koch Trainer.

What is CWYA?
Apologies, but this is an acronym with which I'm not familiar.
