@@MichaelJW72 Maybe, but Dave was in New York, and Craig in L.A., so different staff working the two shows. Ferguson's budget was also much lower, of course.
Kurt definitely has Keith Moon tendencies. He's more restrained (thankfully, since Moon essentially played only fills), but you can definitely tell. (I was also fortunate enough to see The Who in 2001, before Entwistle died.)
Well, serves you right, I think! :P (To be honest, I didn't even take it as condescending... I just thought you were asking if I knew his playing versus Moon's... I just see the best in people... you jerk!)
It's true, though, that you can hear a lot of Keith in Kurt's drum fills and how heavy-handed he *can* play. That's a lot of what I miss most about him since he left... Joe is a good drummer, but Kurt had far more dynamics behind his playing. He would smash the skins for a lot of songs, which is something most pop songs don't get (especially with how intricate his drumming could be), but he could also be very delicate and keep his Moon-ish tendencies in check when needed (Like in the beginning of "Spirit of Giving"). He had an amazing ability to take what would be a "ballad" and put a fantastic backbone in it... never overdid it. Sorry, now I'm just rambling.
SOOOO much symbolism. Need to know what this is about. Have never heard the term 'Brilliant Bruiser' before in any song, from any groupo in any era. And WHAT !? Ray Davies appeared and performed with TNP !! What Power!
you know when you hear a song without knowing what the band looks like but you sort of have a picture in your head but then you see them for real it's like wtf? that's what I'm thinking now. still a catchy tune but damn!
Superconductor- wall of sound! What a great band. I only know one other guy who knows of them, the guy who turned me onto them. Heavy, but with great melodies. Carl's singing (and screaming) was great...I just discovered this band, which I really like- at least the 2 songs I've listened to so far. Does Carl do any of his old 'screaming' on any of their stuff? Probably not, he's moved on. Superconductor!
Gotta feel for Lindsay Hames - front and center on national TV in a band she was only in for a few months. To her credit, she looks dilligent about Bo Bah Bo Pah Pah Bo-ing the shit out of the Bo Bah Bo Pah Pah Bos. (Also, Letterman sounds sloshed)
I have to say, as a former audio engineer, Letterman had the best sound people of anyone on television. This version is SUPERIOR to the studio version. That is both a nod to the amazing band and the engineers and audio people who mixed this for broadcast.
No one act will quite ever capture the swirling beautiful mess the New Pornographers have honed to a knife edge.
Neko Case on back-up vocals !! Luxury !!!
And Kathryn is even better!
Excellent band.. great songwriting..
Letterman had the best sound mixing of any late-night show, ever.
Check out Pumped up kicks on Craig Ferguson
@@ironman9: That's good, too. Ferguson also had capable audio engineers.
@@VIDS2013 Same production company. Probably had something to do with it.

Cause of Paul Shaeffer - he’s the reason so many great Canadian bands were given a chance on that show too
Along with the Shins, definitely the best band of the last quarter century!
Can’t believe Carl is 50,kinda hard to except how awesome that is
I mean omg he’s just like the coolest dad anywhere now
How old are you?
Absolutely bloody brilliant
The sound is so perfect
I love Canadian “indie” bands! 17 people on stage all at once?!? Why not!!!
You should check out Typhoon if you already haven't
It really do be like that
They just get better and better!
Every thing about this band of brilliant musicians is super cool! Come to Australia please.
They are a-comin’, my friend. Make sure you snap up some tickets before they sell out!
This is so far the best New Pornographers performnnce I've ever seen.
Just wonderful. One of my favorites by them. And Neko Case!
At 2:10 you can see Kurt just explode playing the drums. That's rock and roll, ladies and gents.
You've heard of The Who, yeah?
Kurt definitely has Keith Moon tendencies. He's more restrained (thankfully, since Moon essentially played only fills), but you can definitely tell.

Hah. I give a condescending rude comment, I get a thoughtful, informed response. Nicely played.

Sorry, now I'm just rambling.
Gee whiz I wish I was part of that band.
Wha- you mean we're not ? I'm quitting Canada-ing . I shall not quit , " Bo-Pah_BoBo_Paiyo-ing " ...
Me, too! I used to play drums but maybe I could add handclaps or something.
SOOOO much symbolism. Need to know what this is about. Have never heard the term 'Brilliant Bruiser' before in any song, from any groupo in any era. And WHAT !? Ray Davies appeared and performed with TNP !! What Power!
Not brilliant but Brill as in the Brill building. It’s worth the google.

I’ve been a fan of Carl’s music since the 90’s! He used to have a super band called SuperConducter way back.
I miss those days!

i love this band. they are totally into in on letterman
Pharaoh on the microphone...it took me too long to get the reference...
I miss Kurt. This is just a swinging good time
Is that Kelly Hogan on acoustic guitar and backing vocals? And does anyone know who the “Cyril” on Neko’s shirt is referring to?
Doesn't look like her. I mean, it does , but it doesn't, ya know? Lol
@@Danipoopaloo4344 I know exactly what you’re talking about. 😆
Lindsay Hames. Cyril Barrett, he was a friend of Neko's who had just passed away.
Just can't get enough
Drummer.......... Class !
He's rushing and out of tempo.

What exactly does she ever do with that guitar? Why did she leave?
Sounds to me like he has a bad cold, that's all.
Coco looks and sounds great. She can Bo Bah Bo Bah Bah Bo with the best of them.
Yeah, what is the story here on Lindsay?
So delighted to see CoCo in this
F to the Yeah
Thank you , Kryl_
So aweome!
Nice
Yep, they're Canadian
Que buen colectivo
Good lord...was Letterman drunk that night?
Great song however is the chick on the right holding the guitar for show? She hasn’t played it
We don't really say 'chick' anymore. Yes she plays during the quiet bit starting at 1:43
Anyone know what the "Thank you, Cyril" shirt that Neko's wearing means?
Cyril Barrett was a songwriter that had just passed away
Shawn Andros Thanks! You learn something every day.
Thank you, always wondered
Bu ba, buh bu ba boh
Coco!!!

is this a canned taping?
2:29 is cursed
Becky Lynch on backup vocals.
To fast. It's not like the studio version. Still fucking awesome!!!
Drummer was rushing. Good song though.
Neko's leggings are hideous.
When Neko's in 'em, they're not!
Glad you got the main takeaway for this song / video... (jfc)
they're part of her pyramid scheme
Neko can wear whatever she wants!
Critical much?
