    Ciao! I am new here, and I am Italian too, but I live in Australia…Italy is just family and holidays for us nowadays, but it’s great to meet such a lovely Italian knitter as you are. I did apply for Rebecca ‘a test knit too, but didn’t make it. I will knit it as soon as the patterns comes out, though! Your version is phenomenal 🤩🤩🤩 I have a podcast too, only a newborn one, and I am mostly a lover of bright colours, but you are welcome to come and visit me sometimes 🤭 I’ll stick around. A presto ❤

    That was so clever of you to unravel the collar to get more green yarn! I think I prefer 3 stripes to 4, actually.

    Thanks for your podcasts, you bring so much joy! You're totally right that the 3 stripes works well.
    Regarding tubular bind-off, I've found that using smaller needles for the final (or double-knitting) round(s) before sewing removes some of the bulkiness that can happen, especially with heavier yarn.
    Looking forward to the next videos!

    Lovely podcast! “The answer to everything is swatching or blocking” is spot on! 😂 I think you may actually enjoy cables if you knit a bigger garment. Also, unpopular opinion but I also don’t love KFO heavy merino! Keep us posted if blocking helps…😅

    The green in your Anna winter sweater is really beautiful - I love the stripes! Your modified cardigan is looking wonderful - the length looks perfect for a summer cardigan! 😊 the mini sweater is adorable! 🤩
    I also don’t love cables. I’ve only ever knitted a cabled hat and I’m working on some cabled socks and it is challenging 😅 but i think they do look beautiful!

    ahaha I love the heavy merino for probably all the reasons you dislike it! I love how study and 'hard' it feels without being at all scratchy.
    it does definitely soften up a bit with washing/wear though :)

    Hi Francesca, I just found you here on UA-cam and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Love the three stripes on the Anna sweater, and will definitely keep the trick of "harvesting" from the collar in mind if I ever need to play yarn chicken. Loving the color + yarn combo of your Sophie shawl as well. I was doing toe decreases on a sock while watching, thanks for keeping me company (:

    I love doing cables but it is much easier to learn on a larger piece of knitting. I use a short dpn in place of a cable needle. Hope you give it another try.

    No judging here on a creative way of using the yarn amount you have. You’re totally right that no one will see the inside of the collar and 3 stripes instead of 4 looks great. We’ll done!

    Yes I love cables! BUT!! I do not use a cable needle… Andrea Mowry (I think) had a video on UA-cam about cable-ing without a cable needle and I use that method all the time. I’m knitting a Cider sweater by Tincanknits for my little niece whilst I’m watching your podcast! Cable needles are the worst. They slow you down and makes for fiddly sticks poking you 😂

    Ciao Francesca! I love cabling... but I would think that knitting a headband made of a single cable is actually on the fiddlier side. I am a tight knitter as well and it hasn't been much of a problem for me. My first attempt at cables was a baby blanket made of cabled squares. You could try your hand on a smaller project like a hot waterbottle cover maybe? Or even a larger headband (it helps to be alternating cables and "regular" stitches)
    I wish I could write all this in Italian (sto imparando l'italiano...) but my wooly vocabulary is very limited (per il momento...). By the way, your French pronunciation is very neat!

    The answer is always Swatching or Blocking 😂. So true.
    Oh and I looooooove cabling. I cable without a cable needle. It requires a bit of bravery and a strong constitution not to panic when you pull your stitches off the needle to re-order them. But it’s far less fiddly than a cable needle.

    • @AnItalianKnitter
      @AnItalianKnitter  Рік тому

    • @Knitweekend
      @Knitweekend Рік тому

      @@AnItalianKnitter oh yes definitely a sticky wool and probably one held single would be easier. Don’t use a superwash or alpaca or you will hate me forever!! I personally find it easier to go without the needle up to an 8 st cable. I can comfortably hold 4 stitches off the needle.

    Hi, love your podcast, I’m currently working on Braids Of Grass by Ailbiona Mc Lochlainne, is a cable sweater but there are no purl stitches in the cables, I think it would really suit you. I honestly think the three stripes look better than the four stripes! I am a fan of uneven numbers when it comes to these things so I really think the sweater turned out amazing! I will definitely make one with the similair stripe idea! 😍 Also, I am still trying to accept the fact that you hate my favourite yarn 😂😂 but my love for heavy merino will remain! 😅❤️

    I hate that KFO Heavy Merino. The hand is awful. Alas, IMO it doesn't soften much with blocking. I used it once to make pillow covers - something it's quite good for because it's sturdy - and I will never use it again.

      Mine were too tight as well, at the beginning. I think practice helps a lot, but you could also try the two rounds of double knitting before the actual bind off. This is what I do:
      Double knitting rounds:
      Round 1: k1, sl1p wyif (repeat to end of round)
      Round 2: sl1p wyib, p1 (repeat to end of round)
      Followed by sewn bind-off: ua-cam.com/video/FNbanlVzbxw/v-deo.html
