I live in Pensacola Florida as we get closer and each of these model runs come out it's looking more and more likely not only are we going to get snow here but we could be looking at an historical amount for this area. In 2014 we had an ice storm in January that shut our city down for 2 days. I thoroughly expect that to be the case. However sadly people here are being naive and brushing this off. We don't have the infrastructure nor or our tires down here built for winter weather. Sadly there will be people that won't know how to stay home and they will go out put their lives in other people's lives in danger. But one thing that people keep bringing up is that whatever snow we get will not be able to accumulate simply because our ground down here is too warm. Do you know anything about this? All I know is I have never in my life seen anything predicted like this nor have I heard anyone talking about anything with this much snow in Pensacola Florida. I surely hope that it accumulates and stays on the ground long enough for me to go out and build a snowman and play in it and make snow angels. At 42 years old the inner child and me is going to be having the time of my life.
@@ChrisTombstone82 I lived in Jackson County Florida til I was 33 years old, I saw it snow 3 times, and it doesn't stay long on the ground, just enjoy it cause u won't see it again for another 10 years lol
Chris, in Atlanta when the ground is too warm for it to stick, it usually sticks to rooftops, trees, and grass. It is beautiful, but just not on the streets. You might consider gathering snow from your roof top , which will be clean , to make your snowman. Or maybe put a few trash bags out to gather some, because if you try to gather it from the grass, it won’t be clean looking since you’ll be scooping up dirt along with the snow. Be sure to take some photos of your rare snowfall !❤️
I’m a Floridian expected to get snow judging by this model but so far my weather app is only predicting freezing rain and a mix of rain and snow. I don’t think I’ll be seeing any snow this year, just a layer of ice like 2014. 😔
I'm in West Virginia and the snow started coming down heavy at 5 am this morning. I had to spend a week and 3 days at work because of the last storm and I just got back home yesterday 😢
Good morning from Northeast Georgia! Thanks for your early morning forecast. My! My My! It looks like it's gonna be a mess. But I'm so excited just to see snow! I say BRING IT ON 😁
Omg, it's really coming to Pensacola, isn't it? Is raining now. We have unanimously voted for snow, but ice is not welcomed due to potential pwr outages. Have been recovering, learning to walk again at a rehab center. Many staff members & other patients have been watching your updates along w/me. We truly appreciate your time, effort, & updates. Staff are making preps for staying overnight. Hope our generator is ready to roll.
Semi OTR driver. North East Nebraska to Saint Joseph East to Saint Louis MO take I-55 south to Hattiesburg Mississippi for Tuesday night delivery. So it should be interesting. Be safe everyone.
My nana is in Ft Walton. She said it was in the 80’s last time they had any type of “snow” and I forgot to ask if it stuck. I’m thinking it will melt and create an ice sheet since the temps will stay so low.
Thanks for the update David, this is an interesting development in turn of events and only about 2 1/2 to 3 days away. Will it stick, that is the question and not talking about the snow either but the trend. For my sake in Summit MS, I sure hope so. 😁
these type of storms always tick / trend northwest closer to the day of the storm ... so far , "by the models and ensembles" , my snowfall amounts are increasing, especially with the canadian model.
The drastic change in the European model tells me what I need to know. The system looks like it’s trending north. The GFS model predicted a lot more ice storms than what occurred last time. It’s predicting a huge swath of ice storms this go around as well. The GFS also predicted the Atlanta are was too far south to get much accumulating snow and Atlanta would get much more ice instead which was completely wrong. I do not believe that the scary ice accumulating storms will be like the GFS is predicting. At least not with the incredibly cold polar air mass coming in. Where the GFS is predicting ice I’m inclined to believe a lot of that will be snow instead. Just like last time. When the Canadian and European models are in agreement and the GFS says otherwise I think the GFS is wrong. I’m saying much more snow and less ice and more snow further to the north than the GFS is saying.
What baffle's me is that Georgia Alabama line that T's into Tennessee, the snow weather dips over , dips around, or dips under that spot . What's up with that ? A Portal or what ?
Still find it amazing that in 2025 we can’t pinpoint what a storm will do 48 hours away. In winter 1994. They would talk about a low pressure in the gulf that was 5 days away and predict a huge Northeast snow storm. And they were like always right. 30 years later weather forecasts have gotten worse
@@Irishtwinbeads282 they can’t pin point everything yet because the gulf system has NOT developed yet- that’s not until Saturday night into Sunday - THEN they can see exactly where it’s going.
@ Really appreciate you taking the time to respond!!😊 It’s very helpful when the “Piney Woods” is mentioned specifically. It encompasses a rather large area but it’s just far enough away from DFW that a Snow/Ice forecast can be slightly different. (As I’m sure you know) Thanks again! 🤗
Well, someone’s gonna get a significant snowstorm if it trends north maybe it’s good news for you, but let’s cross our fingers that this never develops.
It happens about once every 10-15 years. Nothing not natural about this. I'm 42 and I've seen snow twice down south here, once in central Florida and once in south Mississippi. Still in south Mississippi so it is about time to see my third snow. Perfectly natural.
Thanks for getting up early and giving us an update! This is great!
I always do my best to give you accurate updates! 😊❤
