I can totally relate! My shop is a 40 ft version of yours. I cut 6 windows in and a 36" exterior door in mine. I insulated the ceiling with 2" Styrofoam and the walls with 1 1/2" Styrofoam then lined the everything with 1/4 thick cardboard and then covered the walls and ceiling in planed pallet boards. It looks kinda like a mine shaft inside. I also put and 18ftx26ft porch on the front using salvaged wooden utility poles as rafters. In the summer I don't need an air conditioner at all. I just open windows. In the winter, one 1500 watt space heater is all I need.
I can appreciate and totally understand working in a small space, when we rented my work space was a 8x10 shed, then when we bought our property i bought a old school bus and that was my work space, every inch counts and yes it definitely has to stay clean.
You've done a great job making your space organized and efficient! It's a challenge setting everything up and still keeping it tidy. We're not quite there yet! 👏
Well organized and thought out. You must enjoy the machines you made. There is nothing better than having your own ideas work to create what ever you want. 🥰🥰also…Hi Sarah!
Man i know what its like to work in a space thats too small . I built furniture in out of a 6x8 shed .But you can definately make it work. Its a good space concidering its all you have. Good video thanks for posting.
Don't let my wife hear you say I don't need a big shop! I currently use a two car garage. Granted it's not all for rocks. I occasionally do some wood working too, but nothing worth making a video about. You're way more organized than I am. And cleaner too. You've obviously gotten your space utilization down to a science, we expect nothing less from you. A very nice video as usual.
I did indeed appreciate your shop tour. Your enthusiasm sharing your shop with us is quite evident by your animated presentation, your skip in your step. One thing I've learned in viewing all your shop tour videos is that there is really no room for legitimate criticism. It's all about working within your means and it takes years to build a comfortable space that works for you. Thanks, Jared.
Thank you. It's a process learning what you need and what you don't and it's really not something that can be rushed and if anything I think that its a process best left to time and going slow with it.
Well you had me fooled, I thought you were in a garage. You have done a good job with your videos. Nice shop, you have an attention to detail and like a clean shop, I certainly respect this. I have a corner in my garage and I struggle to keep it neat. Some are better than others, or most are better than I. Thanks for the tour.
A really nice shop tour. I love the thinking involved in the placement of individual tools and project spaces. If you can't pay cash, then you get the parts for cash. It usually end up being over engineered and would last a lifetime, but most of all it would be built the way you want in. Not going into debt is always the way to go. That said.... when is the next container coming. 😂😢😮😅😊. Be happy, safe and stay healthy to you and yours. 😷⚒
Dang Jared! I wish I could hire you to come to Florida and set up my shop and build me some machines. What you have is so much better than most of the stuff Ive bought brand new! I’ve watched your Saturday night specials every dang one of them, I’ve watched 99% of your videos (not 100% sure I didn’t miss one) you have definitely educated me, enough to know what I want now, I am just not mechanically inclined at all nor do I have enough faith in myself to build like you can and do. You should be proud and show off all you have built and accomplished!.It looks amazing. Thank you for your knowledge, time, effort, and research once again! Sharing your space with us is very helpful and I certainly appreciate it. Hey if you ever wanna come to Florida and help me set up mine (lol) I’ll pay room and board… at my house, in Sarasota! You, Sarah and Mica can come and vacation. With a side of fossil hounding, sharks teeth, and sun 🌞 😂
Thank you for giving us the current shop tour. My shop seems to evolve as I acquire new things. Need more shelves now! Also more containers for stackable storage.
Recently moved from Ca. to Az., new rock shop is a 20x12 tuffshed. Unfortunately it's presently back filled with auto parts, and has no power. About the same size as yours. Hopefully have it up and running by spring. Good vids, keep it up.
Very cool shop I have been looking into those heavily. Thank you for sharing Definitely what I'm looking for, maybe 2 .... Lol For me I need one dedicated to welding.
Thank you for the shop tour. I know it hasn't been ideal for you, what with the weather there and the cold as well as the hot. Given a second shot at it would you consider doing it with a second shopping container, if you could insulate it first? They are fairly easy to insulate but it is a rather costly process. I've done one when I was still in construction, and a second container with a pass through from one to the other would give you twice the space. If you had the space to put one, that is. Insulation for those would be foam insulation and spray foam with paneling or even peg board over it. Even plywood would work. It's all held up with construction glue but insulates really well. It holds cold and heat out while holding cold and heat in when needed. Just a thought. Cool space and you have thought of everything! It's ideal for you, working within your constraints. Thanks for sharing!
A shipping container is better than nothing and if I had to do it again I still would not insulate it first as you're making a small space even smaller and the systems to properly insulate this containers is costly. Hopefully my days are number in this shop and at some point I will be able to move into something better suited for me.
Nice clean tidy work space. Really coming together .. has it been 2 years since the last shop video? Wow! Thnx for sharing. Love all your content. Cheers
Very inspiring video Jared, I live on a 1.5acre block but live in a 6m x 3m studio so i understand the struggles with small space setups and this has been very insightful!!! Thanks for sharing
thanks for the tour Jared. hard to believe that’s only a 20’ container. i’ll start worrying about you when you switch out the radiant barrier for a plumbum lined one ☢️😂.
A video on most limited cost effective tools for beginners for full process of polishing rocks or making basic cabochons would be cool. Maybe you’ve done one?
When I taught a Bellevue college, I had two racing drivers in my geology class. They could not believe that my rocks were in my garage and my car sat outside in the rain.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding This is true. I’d spray foam the whole interior. 😂. Out here the elements are so brutal it would be nice because there’s no upkeep or roofing to worry about. And it’s always windy so things get battered quick. My giant garage takes hours to heat up and in the winter is full of cars. But that’s what I get for moving to the mountains
Nice shop and tooling! I know the same feeling living next to busy road doing video works, its not so bad for the most part. I have the same crazy feeling when my tiny shop is to cluttered, drives me nuts sometimes, I do have to much stuff!! If you get that cab chamber going good, let's work together on some fun, I got turquoise I wanna see looks like after stabilized Like the 8 by 3 expander cabber, I just got an old poly D14, gonna make it a 6 Wheeler someday
Can you make a video about how you bought and had your shipping container delivered? Just the entire process in like a “how to” or at least a “how I did” video pretty pretty please?
Nice setup👍 Would an exhaust fan help with summer heat? For some reason RV / van roof top fans popped into my mind. I’ve sen some with a cover to keep out rain. Just a thought.
So is the pressure chamber for stabilization of rocks? Love your shop and you building your own lapidary equipment, its way too expensive and not getting cheaper.
Question on your trim saw...is that little gaurd in the front enough to keep the spray controlled? Have an 8" Lortone that came with the plastic cover it is is a pain in the @#$ to see what I am doing. Hoping to scale back to something simpler. :-) Thanks!!!
Hey man thanks for the stickers you sent me I left my number on PayPal, long story short I'm looking for someone to cut some slabs or make a cpl cabs out of some fire opal, I'm willing to pay well. Anyways great video hope to hear from ya. Jimmy

Amazingly creative use of limited space. Very, very impressive.
Thank you.
This was so inspiring, I loved the tricks such as the plank that you put in the middle to create an other table. Thanks, Claire.
I'm glad you liked it.

It's a process isn't it? Shops have a way of progressing over time which I personally find fascinating.

It has been about two years since I last showed the shop in full.
FYI: Putting the insulation on the outside of the building and then covering it with some type of siding material is the best way
I don't really think that's a very good option here for a number of reasons but I could see how many for a different type of building that might work.
Very inspiring video Jared, I live on a 1.5acre block but live in a 6m x 3m studio so i understand the struggles with small space setups and this has been very insightful!!! Thanks for sharing
Yeah you really need to be smart with the space don't you.

Hahaha if I had a garage I would be right there with you.
Great use of a small space! I’d love a shipping container for a shop. My office is getting overloaded.
Man I would not recommend a container for a cold environment. Staying warm is an uphill battle.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding This is true. I’d spray foam the whole interior. 😂. Out here the elements are so brutal it would be nice because there’s no upkeep or roofing to worry about. Can you make a video about how you bought and had your shipping container delivered? Just the entire process in like a “how to” or at least a “how I did” video pretty pretty please?
I don't know how worth watching that really would be since a truck just shows up and drops it off and that's kind of that.
Nice setup👍 Would an exhaust fan help with summer heat? For some reason RV / van roof top fans popped into my mind. I’ve sen some with a cover to keep out rain. Just a thought.
It would and you can buy them that are designed for shipping containers actually.
I haven't seen that much organization in decades.
If I didn't it would be an almost unusable space for me.
You have definitely utilized the space you have, but do you have heat in there yet?
I have a small diesel heater which helps.
Are your welding tanks secured good? I had an oxygen tank fall and went through a concrete block wall really dangerous
They have a strap on them that connects them to the table.
So is the pressure chamber for stabilization of rocks? Love your shop and you building your own lapidary equipment, its way too expensive and not getting cheaper.
It is for that.

It is, but having the clear hood is still the best option I think.
