I traded an Alpha Sol Ring for 60ish common cards and mostly lands to get started when I was new to magic in elementary 1993. I had no real concept so I thought I got the better deal. Leaving this here because I never told anyone
The game looks fucking phenomenal, but I'm genuinely worried about barrier to entry already. There are heaps of cards I want to actually PLAY with them that are already running above $40 each, with no alternative (as in: they're not Foil, or premium versions), which ramps up the cost of decks in the multiple hundreds already. Until the availability of cards is more widespread, likely after they're done with the limited print runs, I'm wary of entering what could be yet another cardboard speculative bubble. But yeah. Hyped as heck for this game; it looks amazing.
Card prices aren't great, but fortunately the prices of cards right now is buoyed by the fact that the only versions of the cards available are "first edition" prints of them. The next "unlimited" print - which is what CFB is selling - is coming in November. Card prices should drop a lot around then, especially on the top end of things where the 1st edition foiling is completely different from the unlimited edition.
@Pariah was Just about to mention force of Will which is pretty much Like mtg With an external Land/Stone Deck, also the Option to have multiple Battle Phases and attacking opponent creatures brings more depth and complexity to the table
I’ve been sitting on the starter decks and some cards from one box I opened for months because I can’t find anyone to play with. But I’m excited to see CF releasing content for it with their big platform. Hopefully the game blows up even more. Maybe then I can play my first game 😅
I’m a modern magic player. I’ve been playing Flesh & blood for the last 6 months and I can say for certain this is a great TCG. 10/10 recommend especially for competitive players
I tried it - and had maybe 20 plays or so with different decks. At that point I grew tired of it. It's action packed - sure, but you never get to build a board, since most of your cards only last for the one turn, - and for me that was something I didn't enjoy all that much. Oh yeah, I also can't fathom the price single-cards are selling for. I feel like it's a game that has been hyped enough to make people believe it's the new big thing, but I personally don't believe it will last. But I hope it does, although I don't see myself getting back to it. How is the game holding up today, and what are your point of view on my "criticism"?
@@aqurk Always good to have contrarian perspectives. It is possible that future sets may have some cards which last more than one turn, appealing to the board-building aspect. The game is still young.
Two years later and it’s still around. I’ve played a ton of MtG and honestly wish WotC would follow suit with how Flesh and Blood works to respect their fan base and support competitive play. I don’t mind Commander, but i miss competitive paper magic…
not gonna lie, seems like the game of War, but you get to look at the top four cards instead of just flipping randomly. i do like how you explained the cards well and even had the over lay to zoom in on the cards. i am happy another game not based on a franchise is doing well, usually the franchise holds the game back from doing well, but the resource for the game reminds me ff tcg and the transformers as well, which is kinda the best of both.
Just as a helpful suggestion. when cards are played or pitched its helpful to announce the color of the card like "pitch blue brutal assault" so that your opponent and the viewers have an idea of how much pitch value there is. It's also a good idea to use a counter for floating pitch especially when you start dealing with instants that resolve and go to graveyard. Also, you kept saying "discard x to block" you aren't actually discarding them, you are defending with them. There are discard effects in the game and that could get confusing. Thanks for making the videos and supporting Flesh and Blood!
Slight misread on Scar for a Scar - it gains go again as long as you have a lower life total than your opponent when played, not on-hit. So It's not necessary to overblock to prevent go again.
This matchup was pretty cool overall, but I noticed a few illegal moves played. At 6:35, the guy on the right blocked with a card from his Arsenal, which isn't allowed. But I'm not here to police your game. Just something I noticed. I also wish the bg music wasn't so loud. It was definitely distracting. Thanks for the video!
Confused by @9:56, you didn't have cards to play, that round but then you drew 4 cards and skipped your turn? Can someone explain that? Why not just play from the 4 cards you just drew? Also, why are you both not using any armor pieces?
The dude on the left used all his card to defend himself and in this game you can only draw at the end of your turn. So basically, his turn was --> attack but without any card he can't do anything --> his attack phase being over he's turn ended so he draws 4 cards like normal --> it's the other dude turn. So basically, he just draw, and ended his turn and get attacked again :) Hope your understand what I say !
The Welcome Deck is missing equipment cards and is designed to help a player understand the core mechanics of the combat chain. I’d encourage you to watch a blitz or constructed matchup. There is a second game going on during play where the players need to better plan what cards they choose to pitch (because those cards come back later) In my opinion there is a ton of tension built when you need to evaluate whether your hand is strong enough to argue taking hit points.
@@ProShrink I mean, I think the problem is that I already understand the "second game" going on with the pitch zone recursion, and thats not overly complicated or exciting or even all that strategic really. I've seen other videos and blitz games and all that, and this game, in my opinion, plays like the TCG equivalent of a slap fight.
@@harrisond8 from what I’ve seen and played of the game, I believe it is more elegant than a mere slap fight. The aha moments I’ve had while playing are exciting and rewarding. I respect your opinion and agree in the that seemingly basic/simple design at the high level. However, I prefer less complex board states, a game that doesn’t have weird ramping or curves that you have to build toward, and an extremely low barrier to entry for new players.
@@ProShrink Not sure if I will call it low barrier to entry. They're asking same prices as MtG draft boxes. I was expecting a new game to start at a lower price to entice new players.
Just started playing 3 weeks in. These are the starter decks designed to teach how to play. Handed out for free from an LGS. So yeah the gameplay is going to be bit basic. If you play magic the comparison I'd make is like getting two starter white decks and jamming vs one another, would also be pretty one dimensional. The more recent FAB Monarch Blitz deck starters have a lot more going on in them.
I feel like this would be cool...but not having a digital offering available seems bad. The number of physical TCGs that just go nowhere is ridiculous and right now they dont have anything to draw in people that cant go to LGS to buy cards or play.
The no digital thing is on purpose. The idea is to get people back to interacting with eachother and supporting stores instead of staring at a screen and feeling like you are just playing against an AI. Obviously a pandemic was not in the plans, but the game is growing despite that. Once the rest of the world sorts their stuff out its going to be huge.
yeaaaaa very much not sold on this game there doesn't seem to be much if any play variance in the game at all, and its just a face race with "hmm do I top deck better than the other person", lot of hype for something that sorry to say will never be the next mtg, just as every mmo will never be the next WOW, looks fun but yea to simplified and no sticking power.
Right. Just supposed to teach you the bare bones. Well not even that now, since there's other decks. I just picked up a couple blitz decks for heroes that I thought looked cool and started there.
Looks great but not having a digital version is a huge letdown. I'm livong im Europe and there's no LGS around that offers this game. Too bad because I'd even pay for this to be able to play online.
This is cute. The game mat reminds me of yugioh back in the day. Shame card games are dead and null in 2021. Hopefully you all are able to have fun in this limited experience. Maybe one day we can go back to fun and less Babe Ruth collectible mentality. Until then the cost is simply too big to play. Why buy in when you can watch UA-cam videos showcasing the biggest and best examples of a game you can’t play unless your playgroup has given in and is able and wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on a hopefully game. I already spent money and miss Warlord. No one remembers Warlord... this game seems like all the others before it. Cute stocks type meme but I don’t think anyone will be talking about this in a few years. Unless they go big on an all digital version like MtGA. Because we all love Magic the Gathering : Arena 🤣😂🤣
LSV, please stop saying "discard" when defending. Discarding, Pitching, and Defending all have specific rules interactions and you may confuse newer players by mixing your terminology.
20 years later ppl going wild for the missing sleeves xD
I just wanted to make the exact same comment :-)
The hand shuffling bothers me a lot more.
they will say something like: hey, remember when i was bending those 5k $ cards with no sleeves on that youtube video?
I traded an Alpha Sol Ring for 60ish common cards and mostly lands to get started when I was new to magic in elementary 1993. I had no real concept so I thought I got the better deal. Leaving this here because I never told anyone
Considering they print and play/beginner cards, it's not quite the same as shuffling an unseeded cold foil card.
I am usually not into new card games, but this one got me interested. Hope to see more content
You ever getting into the card and if so, so do you like it?

@@maximusair That's exactly what I'm hoping for! I can't wait to get my hands on the stuff. It looks amazing.
Dont know if you enjoy limited, but draft and sealed is great. Also a great way to gradually build a collection
That's definitely a valid concern but I think going forward things will definitely normalize and I would jump in once unlimited hits the market!
Agreed. Once unlimited hits the market prices should normalize, except for the cold foil versions of the cards which wont be reprinted.
Flesh and Blood is such a fantastic game. VERY glad to see it featured here!
Love that all cards serve as attack, defense, and resources. No more mana screw!
Good point!
Very standard design these days. One of MTGs strengths and also weaknesses is its locked in design in regards to economy.

Those play mats are awesome. Any ideas on how to get one?
Weird off topic question what life counter are they using?

they said "fuck that mana energy stuff you dorks use! EVERY CARD IS AN ENERGETIC MANA IN THIS TCG"
Very interesting looking game. Really considering getting into it
This looks pretty awesome! Very nice game you two!
This is so boring. No synergy, no tension. Just both players playing as many cards as possible.
I agree, it looks pretty lackluster

im still on the fence about getting into this game. It's very one dimensional- One trick pony.
