Looks like he was trying to dive in, but she was fighting a little and then when he finally went in, she was like "naw fuck this" and left, leaving my boy up there like "wtf man..."
Looks like shes strict picking a mate.And he could been hers if he didn't rush her like that.He was forcing her.And she did not like that at all.So that shows that he is really not the one she wants to mate with.Tarantulas pick mates like some animals.If their not the one they either attack or just walk away.I think they do a test to see if their the ones.I may not know much about them but I can see and tell that's how their mating ways are.I've watch some videos about them mating but never do.And end up like this I can tell they only will mate if their the right one.

Megan McEvers They do. But since the DNA of Ts is not very complex, there is no problem of mating siblings of the same generation. BUT one should not repeat this across several generations otherwise even Ts will suffer from inbreeding and become smaller and bad.

I am not an expert but it looks like the female is uncomfortable with the position where she needs to fight gravity while dealing with this big guy

That's like nature. The males are usually the more visually attractive, they use their colors to attract mates :)

They are both P. irminia (actually siblings) but the males change their appearance during the last molt when they become adult (gender dimorphism).
