Very interested in a podcast on the different coffee processing types, especially the new weird fermentation types. Thanks!

Great stuff. I’m going to try the fork method!! To soak your portafilter I use a plastic Chinese food take out container

nice. do you take the Chinese takeaway out first, or leave it in and introduce exciting new flavours to your coffee?

For the 'distribution tool', you can easily make your own very cheaply using acupuncture needles. The handle can be made using a 3d printer but, cork + duct tape would also work. ;)

I went even cheaper and made one with straightened paperclips stuck into a cork. But since then I got one from China for about £3 and it works fine

A 500ml Pyrex jug holds a spouted portafilter upright perfectly, wooden handle stays dry

Exactly. Just use a glass measuring cup. 500ml or 1l does the trick for both the portafilter + baskets and, happens to be heat resistant.

Ahhh, you mean the milk pitcher for frothing milk? that's a good idea. I never use my milk pitcher, and I only have single one that's hidden in the back of my cupboard, but it might work!

Naked portafilter and all your problems will be solved!

true to a point. I don't like to always use a naked and I might be making single espresso's for guests. I typically have my 18g basket in a double-spout and a 22g basket in the naked. It's kind of a rule in the house, so we all know which is which. We have several coffee's at any time, some work in 22g better, and some in 18g. But you are not wrong for a lot of people that would fix it!

@@bartalks1810 single baskets work perfectly well in a naked portafilter. The main one I'm using is a 12 gram IMS basket, but I had good experience with smaller ones as well, including a 7 gram VST basket (which requires a 41 tamper).

@@Yirgamalabar Have you been able to get good texture from those? I bought a 14gr VST but just found the texture to be thin

@@bartalks1810 yes, I like the mouthfeel I'm getting with these baskets. If you find it thin maybe grind finer and adjust the dose lower (to maintain the same flow).
