Just ordered this kit yesterday after watching this vid. Today repacked jack and driveshaft bearings too! I have the same sled and appreciate your videos. Thanks and cheers from Upstate NY.
No problem! Happy to hear you have found my videos helpful! I'm always looking for ways to help make my stuff last longer and work a bit better! Cheers back from Ontario Canada!
One thing I would recommend is removing both seals and then thoroughly cleaning the old, gunky grease out of the bearing before repacking with fresh grease. Kerosene or mineral spirits works great for this. It will clean out all the random dirt and grit that the bearings pick up over time.
Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the viper ownership! Thanks for the view too! hope it helps you out. Im glad I installed mine! Be sure to check out my other viper videos on my channel and I'm always here to help out however I can. Dont forget to subscribe and click alarm button too so ya dont miss future videos (It really helps me out to keep making them) Sled on,have fun and stay SAFE! :)
If you mean the track tension yes I did loosen it to remove the inner wheels for grease re-packing, if you choose not to do that you may not need to loosen the track to install the extra outside wheels. No drive belt adjustment was necessary. Thanks.
@@gilbertglabb3209 it will damage the bearing. I will never reuse a bearing after beating it out. It will gall the surface the bearing rides on. Good luck! Maybe you’ll get lucky with that...but pull the seal with it in the wheel.

Bryce817 I installed a dual rate spring from Hygear. These skids have a falling rate leverage/linkage... so the dual rate helps reverse that problem. Meaning the further through the stroke the shock travels the easier it is to compress it. (Opposite of the the effect you want)
To be honest I didn't even ride the sled with the stock spring I just put the dual rate in right away. I had one in my apex and liked what it did for that so much I just got one for my viper. Suspension is always a good place to add some performance parts. Just give any of those reputable shops a call and ask about a dual rate spring for your sled.Make sure your shock isn't in need of a rebuild too.
So I installed them after 1700km and I got this horrible droning sound at around 45 to 60 km hour so I ended up taking them off I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem

Great tip!
Great idea to re grease bearings. I have always done that. And never had trail side failures in over 25 years.
Thanks and I agree with you! A little grease will help bearings go a long long way!
Had a truck with 2.3 million km regular greasing. Original king pins. Grease is cheap.
I pack new bearings with synthetic moly grease before installing them. Brand new bearings have very little grease in them sometimes.
Your right about new bearings having little grease in them... seems odd thing to do, and for sure moly grease is top notch!
Thank you for the bearing repacking tip I learned something today
No problem Louis! Thanks for the view, and happy riding !
Thanks for the vid....just bought a RTX sidewinder 0 miles on it....ordered my kit. First mod!!!! Lol 🍻

Just noticed you said Sidewinder! double RAD! that thing will be a weapon!
biker mike thanks buddy.....no snow in Michigan , prolly won't ride it till next season..😟
I feel your pain pain! I'm right across the border in Canada. I usually go up to gaylord once a year but never made it this year! :(
Awesome Video, is this good for all years of SR VIpers , I have a 2015 LTX DX
Did you have to re adjust or loosen your belt to install the 4th wheel
If you mean the track tension yes I did loosen it to remove the inner wheels for grease re-packing, if you choose not to do that you may not need to loosen the track to install the extra outside wheels. No drive belt adjustment was necessary. Thanks.
Thanks for the vid. I took apart mine (mtx2015) and I don’t have snap rings like yours. I don’t see how that ring comes out.
Not sure either, maybe yours is a non serviceable one? 🤷♂️
@@bikermike thanks, you’re right my year and model is non serviceable. Perhaps even more reason to ad the fourth wheel?
@@rlb606 I agree! Anything to make it more reliable!
❤your video
Outstanding advice and video. I don't see a source for the Wheel Kits. Suggestions or do I just go to my local dealer ?
Yes it’s a Yamaha dealer item
Now do the same to the jack shaft / drive bearings and you're set!
Have that vid too! Check it out 🤙
Rode 100 miles with the tri hub bearings being totally gone .slowly made it home but destroyed drive axel
Dang! That sounds like it will be pricey!
Total in parts is 200 .track is fine did the work myself super easy .
Hey Mike. Do you have to loosen the track to get at and remove/replace the inner wheels?
Yes I think I did, I made a couple reference marks with a black sharpie to get things back close to where it was. 9:58 you can see the mark
@@bikermike got it - thanks brother
If you're not replacing the bearing why remove it? Can't you remove the retaining ring and the seal and then put in the grease?
Yes that would work good too!
This is just some advice in order to remove the bearing you have to hit the inner race witch can damage the bearing cage

What’s the part number for the bogies wheel s and bolts and spacer
The whole kit is SMA-8JP47-00-BK
Did you swap out the front center spring yet?
Bryce817 I installed a dual rate spring from Hygear. These skids have a falling rate leverage/linkage... so the dual rate helps reverse that problem. Meaning the further through the stroke the shock travels the easier it is to compress it. (Opposite of the the effect you want)
biker mike how is that different than the zbronz or bill mohr everyone talks about?
Bryce817 I’m not too familiar with those, but I looked at zbroz and it looks like they have a dual rate spring set up with cross over adjustment too.
biker mike when you swapped out the springs what difference did it make, because that will probably be my next upgrade to my sled

I’ve got a question how was the track noise after you installed the fourth wheels
Interesting question but I didn't really pay attention to notice anything.
So I installed them after 1700km and I got this horrible droning sound at around 45 to 60 km hour so I ended up taking them off I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem
@@gilbertglabb3209 very possible but I did not notice myself. Not to say the noise wasn't there though.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE VIDEO!!.....Did you have to remove the whole skid to take the rear wheels off?
Thanks for the question Arren. No I didn't remove the skid, I explain how to get them out in my hyfax video:ua-cam.com/video/oczJYuwypQo/v-deo.html
What snap ring pliers are these? Tired of buying terrible ones
They are MAC tools ones. The end bits are changeable for different sizes. I've had them for a long time.
