Oh man... I really wish I had seen this earlier. I bought 15 pots like the very last one you showed at the pond supply store because that's what they said I needed... But know I know it's because it's what they were selling, not because it's the best thing for my plants. Now I feel like I am going to have to repot them all in a few months- provided they live. So frustrated.
I would not, the larger or more agressive will take over. Also when you go to divide rhizomes you may or may not be sure what you are getting unless leaves are very different. They are very heavy feeders and I don't recommend 2 of different varieties
@@pondmegastore I have ordered a couple small water lilies and they are supposed to only get 2 ft wide max. Would that still work or should I do 2 smaller baskets instead?
Really would love to try this....I have a bird bath which has a glass removable top which just sits on a folding rid iron base....it is new. can I use this for the water lily? Any suggestions of where to get the lilys. I live in Scottsdale AZ so bet I need to buy over the internet.
that's a good question, but I'm thinking that if one is re-potting the lily every couple of years, it'll last that long, and when you re-pot, you'll be able to assess the condition of the container.
Thanks for the tip. I found the perfect pot. A window planter at Lowes, 23x7x6. Little pricey, I only need 2 for my pond.
That was a fabulous demonstration. Clear, concise and we did it easily. Many thanks.
I have some 2 gallon squat pots as well as the next smaller size. I like the idea of the kitty litter and dish pans. So hardies grow sideways basicly.
The kitty litter trays are nearing 10 yrs. They could always change the way they make them but under the water they are affected very little.

good job man
Can you plant water plants in Terracotta Pots in a fish pond?
Yes, but if they break in the water remember that could be sharp.
Can you put 2 water lilies in the large kitty litter pan?

@@OldScooterMan the only commonly available Waterlily only 2 ft wide is Helvola. A fabric planter 8 inches across is perfect. Avoid baskets.

How UV stable are the 2 square containers?
