Thank you for this thorough review! I love to see the cuts on you, it gives me a much better idea about the product especially compared to seeing the items on the site on models. Secondly I’m having a lot of thoughts about what I will recommend my daughter when she will get to that age, I cannot imagine recommending pads like I used when I first got my period. I use a cup but that will definitely be a harder solution for girls when they get their first periods. Thank you for this again.
My daughter just started a few months ago and unfortunately the underwear doesn't come small enough, so we've started with pads. I have told her we can get the undies when she is bigger.
Thank you for going so in-depth with these! I use a combination of Thinx currently (have been for years) as well as some reusable pads I found off amazon before everything got so big. Definitely want to check out some of your other recommendations though, and glad there are more options! (:
I have been using thinx for awhile now and I had no idea about the pfas issue. Going to br switching to wuka and aisle. Thank you, your video was very helpful.
I have been debating between Aisle and Knix(also a canadian brand) but knix's main body is nylon & spandex, so seeing that Aisle is mostly cotton and fits and is PFAS free makes me want to go with Aisle. Thanks for the review!
This was great! I have a couple pairs of Aisle underwear and I really like their mid and high rise options. I definitely prefer a cup though for my more heavy days but love the underwear for lighter ones.
I just purchased Lilova and half of my order was defective. We're talking ripped seams and threads unraveled and hanging out the sides. I didnt even try them on. I literally unboxed and boxed them right back up. I was told by customer service I would be charged a restocking fee of $8.95 for each pair returned. A RE-STOCKING fee guys, for defective items. Don't purchase from them. They have no incentive to not just send these back out to new customers. Maybe you'll keep them, or maybe they can charge you a fee. It's wildly unethical. I was going to leave a BBB review but can't find their physical address.
Tack you, Erin! I've often wondered if period is underwear would also be an alternative to incontinence. I know as I get older it might be something I have to consider. Did any of the websites mention it?
So interesting, thanks! I´ve been enjoying your testing and review videos not only for your conclusions about which products are better but also because they give me the keys to understand how to evaluate the quality of clothing.
I used Thinx for about a year and almost all of my pairs have ripped elastic. The quality is just not good. I see them being promoted everywhere though, so at least their marketing team is doing great work. I'm currently using a UK brand called Cheecky Wipes, but I'm not a big fan of the fit. After many washes they seem to have shrunk a little. The brand I'm most interested in as a follow up when these become unwairable is Modibodi, because it's available here (I live in the Netherlands). I use period underwear as a back up for my menstrual cup or on their own on light days by the way, so they don't need to perform amazingly when it comes to absorption.
Thanks for this in depth review. I use reusable pads mixed in with "greener" disposable ones. I find reusable to be a bit difficult in terms of maintenance. You'd have to own a lot of them or do a lot of laundry to be able to use only that? And that was in a cloth diaper household. What are your thoughts on that aspect? Btw, I love your comparison videos because they are so well researched and I trust your opinion a lot
I can only speak for myself, but my cycle typically is 4-5 days, I've never had a very heavy period but found 6-7 pairs of "medium flow" underwear worked great. Then I just did laundry once at the end.
I looked into them but I thought they didn't have a cotton option, which they appear now to have. I think it must have been more recently introduced? A Knix pair also came back positive for PFAS in the linked investigation though, so I likely wouldn't get a pair from them
@@MyGreenCloset oh interesting about the PFAS as it says they are free of them in their site. It's disappointing as my daughter 12y.o only uses those. They recently added the cotton option.
Thanks for the reviews! I'm in the market for some new pairs. All of the bands on my Aisle underwear have frayed over one year since buying them so won't be going with those again. I also found that Thinx fit smaller than Aisle. I had to size up compared to Aisle and it was still a little small. I really don't enjoy the Thinx. Also just in case anyone is wondering the Aisle underwear is actually more in the $45 range now. They've probably increased their prices in the last few months.
@@MyGreenCloset On the top of the elastic at centre back. I have two pairs and they both did that. I'm probably going to order from them again afterall now that I've looked at the other options in your video. Maybe they've changed elastic type since last January when I bought my first ones.
Great video, thank you. Those Thinx ones you reviewed, they are available in our supermarkets and are in conjunction with a tampon/pad company. I think they have more expensive ones on their website. (i have both and I was very confused when the more expensive ones turned up and they were the same brand lol) With that said, even the more expensive ones have the same issue and their lace is all coming apart after about five cycles.
i always wonder how many cycles they might hold up to. most of the companies dont declare the lifespan of their products. the once i found said 6 months up to two years of reliable absorbence :/
Thinx gusset is too narrow. I wear a medium and it does not cover my entire area. And they leaked easily. Does not last longer than a tampon. I’m struggling to find a wide gusset
love your videos, hope to never have my period agin, but I do really like thinx's blader underwear, not something I find comfy enough to use a pad type for, and thinx seams to be the most eco friendly brand for it I can find, also the only non walmart or amazon type sketchy brand I could find.
I'd love to hear your feedback on Snuggs - I've had only those and they feel good, but not the best. I prefer the period underwear mailny because I usually have massive cramps and the cup just enhanced the pain in some weird way. Thank you for the reviews!
Thank you so much for this review. It really helps when choosing one's for my older daughters and highlights ones that are safer for their growing bodies.
Oh my gosh, thank you for this review! I have loved using period panties but my thinx waist band has completely fallen apart after 2 years. I need replacements, but haven't known where to start!
How did you like Aisle’s coverage? I have a pair of boxer briefs from a few years ago when they were known as Lunapads and they have good coverage. But from photos, it seems the other styles don’t go very far up the front or back and I worry about leakage especially while sleeping. In addition to Thinx, I’ve also tried Knix (would not recommend, the quality was terrible when I tried them 4-5 years ago) and Modibodi (pretty good). Modibodi is based out of Australia so great for AU/NZ folks but they ship to lots of places, including where I am in North America.
I think Aisle's boxer style has the fullest coverage of all their styles. On the pair I tried (bikini) I found it okay and pretty comparable to other brands and styles but not ideal if you want that extra security when sleeping.
Thanks for this vid. Looks like due to pfas that could even be in underwear I won't ever be buying me any since you can't even trust those who ever even make em thru them even
