I Picked up the Shadow Black XLT V-6 on Saturday, October 12 which was my Birthday. A self-gift birthday present doesn't get any better than that, and I love it.

The one piece lift up rear bench puts me off from upgrading to the 2024 model. Wish they did it like like the F-150. Dads with baby car seats will understand.
We have a 24 FX4 with the 2.3L. Great truck. The 2.3L will tow 7500 just fine and isn't stressed. This version is actually de-rated compared to the Bronco counterpart.
Today's Ranger should be named the F-100, as it is just a step down from an F-150. The Maverick should be renamed the Ranger, because the only thing that name reminds me of is the '70-'77 Maverick that replaced the Falcon.
@@rayrussell6258 if you were to ask 100 random people in America what the name Maverick conjures in terms of automotive history and brand recognition, you'd be able to count on one hand how many people would mention the Nissan Terrano II minivan that Ford slapped a badge on and never exported outside Europe and Australia. It is the current F-150. Its the size of the previous generation F-150. The current 150 is just different from the 250/350 in frame strength and engine options, otherwise its the same truck. We need a proper Ranger again, trucks are too big. A 2011 Ranger with the 2.0L EB or EcoBlue is what we need.
Hope they build these things better than the last one. I had a 2020 Lariat FX4. I had issues with the seats, rattles, AC/heater died. Sold it at 30K miles. I will never buy another Ford Ranger (or any Ford).
Did you say Regular fuel? Don't most turbo engines require, and perform better with premium fuel. My Wrx will not run well with anything below 91 octane. Maybe Fords are different.
Unless stated by the manufacture all engines will run on 87 octane fuel but with Ford the power figures they give you is with 91+ octane fuel. So for daily commutes you can run 87 to save on fuel costs but when towing I'd probably run the 91+ octane to make sure you're getting full power to tow.
After the Ranger, Ford should bring its SUV counterpart, the Everest, stateside. The Everest, aimed directly at the new Toyota 4Runner, would eventually be renamed for the North American market as the next-gen Explorer. While reverting the Explorer nameplate back to a truck-based SUV that’s less radicalized than the Bronco might be somehow controversial in the eyes of modern Explorer buyers, it may eventually win back older albeit nostalgic buyers who prefer the Explorer SUV to be 100% truck-derived than some hideous crossover deemed unfit to compete with 3-row giants such as the Honda Pilot and Chevy Traverse. It could also, however, kill off some entry-level versions of the Bronco in the process.
As with everyone else *"saved by Toyota"* which is not a win in my book but certainly fair warning as Toyota still has an enormity of product working just fine. Huge fan of Ford CEO Farley and the still greatest pickup truck launch since the 1999 Ford F150 this time the Ford Maverick now the very much welcome rumor is that Ford is not going to let Toyota wholly and totally dominate Sedan sales in the USA which is now true more today than ever before. Not even Honda can lay a glove on the Camry. Ranger Verdict: nothing wrong with competent but the Ineos Grenadier is where the buzz is for obvious reasons
More black plastic everywhere? Uhhhgly! Priced FAR too high, gas mileage hardly much better than an F-Series. Not good. Ford, we all don't need 4 doors, either. I want this size truck, but I'll wait for something that's closer to my parameters.
Too much g-d tech, too large a foot print and way too much money. Gonna stick to the 2010 Lada Niva Truck that I snagged for 7K, four wheel drive, NO INTRUSIVE TECh and damn easy to wrench on if need be.
@@palebeachbum Yea, I know. But, so are most of the 4 cylinder engines also. I’m not comfortable with the turbo movement. But, I’ll just have to deal with it.
Glad to see Ford put real money into the ranger this time. Still prefer if it came with that sweet 3.0 v6. The frontier proves na engines still have a place as a work horse.
2.3 liter turbocharged four popper is a bad idea for a pickup truck that can tow 7500lbs. Can you say "over-stressed"? Larger engines with more cylinders can be made to be very fuel efficient. My Mazda CX-70 Turbos S (mild hybrid) gets better fuel economy than the CX-5 turbo Signature we traded in for it. The CX-70 is 1 thousand pounds heavier, bigger, has more displacement (3.3L vs 2.5L) and more cylinders (I6 vs I4). The CX-70 gets better MPG in all scenarios. Even cruising at 75mph where the battery and emotor play a very limited role, the 70 gets 1 to 2 mpg better than the 2.5T CX-5. Larger, efficient and lower revving engines are much better for longevity and they can be just as efficient as a smaller four popper.
I agree . It has been proven over and over again . However the manufacturers don't want them to last . Manufacturers want you to buy a new vehicle every 2 to 3 years .
