    Thank you for posting this. My dad recorded this game on vhs in 87 and was the all star game that made me love playing baseball. So many beautiful memories.

    We will never see another extra inning All-Star Game 😢

    • @cjones3710

      Nor a regular extra inning game with out that stupid ghost runner nonsense. Every time they go to extra innings Orioles broadcaster whines about it going to be here late. What's his name Kevin Brown, not the pitcher, the little guy

      Or an All-Star game in Oakland ever again.

    • @05steelersrule08
      @05steelersrule08 Рік тому +1

      Yeah, as of 2022 a tie after nine innings gives way to a home run derby "swing-off" similar to hockey shoot-outs or soccer penalty shoot-outs. Interesting, but at the same time it just doesn't feel right. Same with the ghost runners in extra innings, which kills the possibility of any future regular season perfect games extending into extra innings.

      @@05steelersrule08 It ruins all stats too, because in.effect this runnwr came from NOWHERE . At most it must count as point .5 a run.

      @@travismcdonald6576 I was just going to say that too. Las Vegas will get an All Star game once that new ball park is built for the A's. Tampa Bay never hosted an All-Star game and might not ever, unless they get a new Ball Park

    Wow, only Kirby Puckett is represented for the twins at the 87 All-Star game! Hardly any tigers are represented either.

    I will never forget this game. After Raines hit that triple, my dad said he believed that Timmy was the best player in baseball. I think he may have been right at that time.

    The double play that got Winfield at the plate was awesome. Ozzie Virgil was a damn good defensive catcher. He could call a good game, too. He did a hell of a job to hold onto the ball with Winfield running into him like that.

      A 6'6" Dave Winfield coming at you full bore down the third base line has to be a somewhat intimidating sight.

      Lifelong Braves fan here and yes it was an amazing play by Virgil. Braves fans didn’t have much to cheer at during this time but this was one of them.

      @@lon9047 those who were not around to experience it have no clue how good baseball was in the 80s and early 90s. There was no shifts, but you had fielders who could go get it regardless and the catchers had to actually put down signs and they would often call the game themselves instead of looking for a sign from the dugout. I'm sure that was done from time to time, postseason games, etc., but there was some all time great players during that period. I remember watching the Braves on TBS religiously as a kid. I would watch every pitch and not touch the remote until the game ended. MLB on NBC was great during those years, too. With Vin Scully and Joe Garagiola. The 86 World Series games are on Hulu right now on ESPN+. I've been watching those lately.

      @@jkckmarcumful Seems like we have a lot of the same baseball experience. Dale Murphy was/is my idol and I never missed a Braves game on the Super station either. That 86 series and the entire postseason in general was great baseball. I miss the game as it was, not what we have today.
