For those commenting on the varying level of exam difficulties-this video is one in a BIG series of ‘the hardest mathematics courses from around the world’ 😊 I recommend checking out this playlist on my channel as most of the exams in the comments have already been covered! 😁
Q2(i) : A nice approach is to realize, that while the fractional part tends towards zero for x tending towards infinity (positive or negative), what remains is a straight line (y = x) which will then be a diagonal asymptote to the curve :)
I like your solution to finding the roots of the quartic equation. I was thinking of a Numerical Analysis approach like using the Intermediate Value Theorem, and then using either Newton's Method or Bisection Method
A little bit harder than your typical A-levels exam. But realizing those tricks and simplifying, I think it's possible to do. For 1st question: I forgot how to do logs and the rules that apply. But if I sit down and dedicate myself to doing logs for 1 week, should turn this problem into possible to solving it for me. For the 2nd question: Easy as pi! These are gifted points! Like if there was 1 point just to write your name on this sheet. It's that easy. For the real roots question: I have to admit that I didn't understand it. No clue how to solve that. For question h, the triangle question, I would simply use heron's formula to calculate the Area of each given triangle S= half circumference of triangle = (a+b+c)/2 A= sqrt{S*(S-a)(S-b)(S-c)} For the polynomial question: No clue, as we only had polynomial division and therefore I wouldn't know how to do it. For the 2nd question (sketch the graph of polynomial), I would make an x/y table and put different values for x to find out the corresponding f(x) for small values x being [-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3] Question left would be if it's possible and holds if doing pn(x) for natural numbers for n in the range (-3) to (+3), also including (0). Question 4: Finding p1(x) and p2(x) was a genius move. I have to admit that I missed this completely. Question 5: Doing a polynomial multiplication or factoring also was very clever. Summarizing everything, I think I would be able to do some of these questions, but not all of them, even if I actually have an A-levels math degree. This shows how much you forget if you don't do it or use it on a regular basis. Keep doing mathematics! I'm going to continue reading the book I'm currently reading. It explains everything about Sums and Sigma notation. It's Graham's, Knuth's and Patashnik's "Concrete Mathematics". Next chapter to read: 2.7 "Infinite sums" on page 56.
Another notable difficult mathematics admissions exam is the Gaokao exam which is China’s university placement exam. While it isn’t maths only, the mathematics questions in the Gaokao exam are also extremely difficult.
Hearing repeated root for the first time. Discrimination based on language barrier? Hmm also cannot the triangle be solved as a*v (v is the perpendicular thingy) v = sqrt(10^2 - (a/2)^2) S = a * v Now just enumerate approximately. A = 10 B = 50 C = 80 D = 105 E = 2
I even thought this test was easy, I'm not you, of course, but if you try hard, I say, the test is not insane, there were a lot of questions in 26 minutes in a very detailed way. Congratulations, detail for the questions of Derivative and vertical and horizontal asymptotes with construction of graphs, in the glory of God I was able to learn very clearly during college this type of questions and analysis of limits and analyzing the rates of variation, and I really love this type of question, and the way you do it is beautiful, I wouldn't know how to explain, but I really identify with your resolutions. 😊👍

Right that counts me out of Oxford :) but nicely explained thank you
In the UK in the context of admissions tests - STEP is farrrr harder. I took both

Hardly the hardest... Pretty simple to be fair.
Try ISI exam questions objective as well as subjective
Please do the math exam entrance of ENS ulm in math ( Math D ) this is far far more complicated than that
Regarding question A, 9 is an integer. Shouldn't the answer be option 'a' ?
I think The University of Tokyo one that you did some time ago was the hardest so far
Pls make beginner to advance math level lessons
23:12 - Is that an actual clip from Brilliant? They put "or the two airports" instead of "for…" and LAG instead of LGA?
Sadly that this is probably the last year MAT is written, from 2024 onwards it’s gonna be online and won’t have that many long question anymore😭
really?
You should try out the Indian Statistical Institute entrance exam, they have very good questions
Can you do usamo problems

Then you probably would be in an elite University I guess since these questions are child's play for you
India never fails to embarrass itself in the comment section, regardless of the platform.
step is so much harder than this tho
Step and gaokao are harder, the title is misleading
