Thank you for walking through your creative process. Your observation about "paring down" (my paraphrase) some presets through eq (as one example) when the presets have much development is something I will think about a lot. In that way of paring down, there's still something sonically unfolding, but your addition of other timbres and rhythmic elements is where the magic was made in my opinion, because that's where you gave your own direction and made it a truly original work. Also, the acoustic instruments (here piano largely unprocessed; and cello--somewhat processed) over a background of synthesized sounds added emotional depth to this piece. Again, you've given me much to think about in terms of techniques, and I really enjoyed the experience of the finished piece.
Love your style. It's given me some inspiration. Steinberg really scored bonus points for me with this too. If anyone is looking for this but poly (this is mono), use the Halion 7.1 spectral synth. It's the same thing as this, plus some, but without the easy gui.
I just learned about X-Stream from Chris and S1ngs of L1fe and this video popped up with it! I love your composition here... some of these presets are so perfect for ambient meditation music. I JUST downloaded it and will be playing with it later today! Cheers, Tom!!
I just downloaded it and although I'm very impressed with it, I find that it's LOUD! So loud in fact that a lot of the sounds are making digital distortion. Crackly noises. I wish there was a way to turn down the volume on a global level. Turning down the channel fader doesn't do it so I'm actually turning down the level using the "amp" knob on the synth.

The atmosphere of the track is really warm and deep, love it. Thanks for the breakdown.

Sounds Beautiful Tom.
Yo Tom, I got Blackhole in the summer sale (watched your video previously), and now this Spectral synth is f**king mental....you know that.....
Lovely piano playing....🥰

Very nice track

One question - where did you find "Init X-stream"?
Great vid! How do you bounce out the sounds from x stream?
I am a beginner. I'm using Ableton if I downloaded the free synth is there anything more I need to operate it ?
Hi Tom is it a mono or polysynth?
It's mono
sadly you need to install million other things alongside.. annoying.
Two other Free things??
@@mgozzy1 no. install managers and so on…
I find NI generally very user unfriendly. But it didn't take long to download the NI manager and then X-Stream, to be honest.
@@skelligringphotographyandw7012 NI Manager? i thought it’s steinbergs own manager?
