I'm playing him now for some time, and I have a question: why S1 starts aura for 8 seconds or does nothing, while S3 can both start and prolong area, when they have identical definitions? What am i missing?

The SP3 aura lasts for 24 seconds, which is 3x longer than the SP1 aura because it requires 3 bars of power instead of 1. There are different use cases for when you'd want to use the SP1 vs the SP3 so they differ slightly to support a short fight vs a longer fight.

If you’ve moved onto six-stars then probably not. He’s great but probably won’t get you much use in endgame content as a five.
