Actually there was a penalty flag for illegal touching on that onside kick. Wasn't quite ten yards but it was close. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Niners get down to the Chiefs and comeback too.

Chiefs won’t make the same mistake as the Lions. They are very experienced team so we have to start strong and maintain a lead and have them play catch up. Regardless it’s gonna be competitive revenge game

I was looking forward to this video even if it wasn’t a blind react! Already saw much of your raw emotions in your previous video 😂. Serious though, I enjoy your vids and appreciate you giving Purdy and the Niners credit where credit is due. The biggest chip on the shoulder was all the doubters downplaying his merits, saying he was carried, his injury didn’t matter etc. So glad he is finally being recognized as legit.

I think Dan Campbell made the right call both times. Hindsight is 20-20.
Something to note is their kicker is like one of the worst in the league and it's pretty much a coinflip if he makes a 48 yarder normally. But in the NFCCG on the road? I would trust my offense too. On average they're going to put up more points.
Besides, taking the points doesn't guarantee a win even if you make both. If they kick the field goals and lose anyways, you know the talking heads would've been up in arms about how Dan Campbell switched up on his team when the lights were brightest, and how you can't settle for field goals against a team that can score as quickly as the Niners.
Im a niners fan myself but I think that real lions fans should be happy that dam Campbell and co broke records and made franchise history pretty much. They'll win a Superbowl. Dan got there with goff. Goff needs a couple more weapons and lions are set. Kept my #1 seed team to 3 points
It doesn't make sense when the kicker made a fg before halftime. The 9ers kicker been missing a fg the last 3 games and Shanahan still sends him out. And the 9ers beat lions and packers by 3. You take the points. Dan deserves blame.

No. This wasn't even the first lost that happened because they didn't kick the FG or PAT. Campbell is the kinda guy that wins the jackpot at the casinos and then keeps gambling until he's back to square one. Sometimes you just got to know when to fold and take the points when you can.

Just to clarify in that onside kick attempt by Detroit. The ball never traveled 10 yards and was called a penalty on Detroit for illegal touching! Which is why SF started the possession on the Detroit side of the 50!
Even if they had recovered the on side kick, the special teams dude from the lions touched the ball a little bit before the 10 yard line so it would’ve been flagged regardless. Also, the crazy doink pass from Brock would’ve hit BA but there was PI from the lions corner. Even if he hadn’t caught it or had the ball picked we would’ve gotten the yards.
Nah the flag was picked up, not declined, so it would have been an INT.
@@Goatt22 it was a clear DPI. I dont know why they picked that flag up but if BA didnt make the catch, they wouldnt have. I have seen them do that before for other obvious penalties.

The Lions biggest mistake was letting their receivers dip their hands in baby oil at half time.
That first failed 4th down conversion honestly was the turning point. Lions had just held the Niners to 3 points on the opening drive of the half and could have gone right back up by 17, rending the 49ers' field goal somewhat moot. Instead, the 49ers had a little bit shorter of a field and were able to score a TD, followed by the charged-up defense getting the turnover that led to the tying score. Complete swing of momentum.
That or the Gibbs fumble. They looked like they could do something. The fumble gave the Niners the scoring drive. Lions continue to have trouble stopping mobile QBs and big WRs. I liked the 4th down call on the first one. Would have taken the FG attempt on the next one. The 3rd one was a TD. Taking that FG wasn't a chip shot but it would have been the difference on how the game was played after. Niners got confident when they needed to. A few bad plays cost Detroit more than the play calls.

Purdy didn’t look amazing in the first half, but in the second half he came out and balled out. As a fan I’m glad they made the comeback, but if the Niners get out to a start that slow against KC there won’t be any comeback like that. They gotta play better if they wanna win the bowl.
Like any other sport you have to play a complete game if you expect to win. The Lions had a great first half but that doesn't win games, especially against a team like the 49ers. They're the Vegas favorite to win it all for a reason.
As a Lions fan, this still hurts. Lions had it then a few poor plays mixed with a few poor play calls. Ah well. Young coach, young team first time in this position. Glad we added some DBs, lol.
This was heartbreaking for me as a lions fan coaching lost us this game but we will be back next year

Purdy had more rushing yards in the 2nd half than all of Detroit. Thats how the 49ers D locked up.
There was no penalty on the deep magic Aiyuk catch. He was down by contact.

That Aiyuk catch passes me off e every time. Should have been a pick. Under thrown and played right. Just went right through his hands. I think they both thought it was going deeper. If I remember correctly, Detroit had to shuffle in a backup interior lineman that affected the run game. It was doing well earlier. Excited about seeing Gibbs and Montgomery next year. Gonna be a tough climb back for the Lions though. We got some corners, but the rest of the division got better too.
I personally think Dan Campbell doesn't trust his kicker... I heard on a sports show that the kicker only has like a 50% hit rate on 40+ FG... not sure how accurate that is but even if both kickers hadn't missed a single attempt, all other events being the same, Detroit would most likely have won by three.

Brock Purdy using his legs aint nothing new if you followed his college career. He went back to what he won with in college and it paid off in full.

Every Super Bowl winning team has had some luck along the way. You’ve got to be both lucky and good. And it is bad coaching why Detroit lost but it’s the way they won during the regular season. The tale of two halves…The Niners have got to tighten up that defense from the jump. KC doesn’t have the weapons that Detroit has on offense. But they have Mahomes and that’s enough for them to always have a shot. Go Niners!

People keep saying "they had it", "they gave it away", but people leave out the fact that the 49ers SHOWED UP the 2nd half! The, the 49ers are that team! I'm not taking anything away from the Lions because they are a very solid team with a great future but the 49ers ARE THAT TEAM that is built to take a Super Bowl. In my opinion without bias, the Lions are at the level of the 49ers this year so it shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone that the 49ers came back. The team showed up in the 2nd half!

Also for that catch Aiyuk made off the helmet was a perfect throw. Aiyuk ran into the defeneder (Good play by the defender), but if you watch closely, the ball is where it was supposed to be. If Aiyuk didn't run into him them the ball would've been in his arms.
You keep saying Lions made mistakes, they shouldn't have fumbled, but the 49ers made many mistakes in the first half too! Like a missed field goal. It happens in the NFL. You can't take away the fact that Gipson created that fumble! It wasn't a given as if he dropped the ball. It was forced out! So stop saying "The Lions aren't used to being there, because football players are football players! it has NOTHING to do with their history. The 49ers SHOWED UP and the 49ers ARE THE BETTER TEAM! Saying all that, you are true, Campbell should've taken the points. It could've been a different outcome, but then again, the 49ers wouldn't have played "prevent" on the final Lions score either, so the two field goals Campbell chose not to take would've been negated by that final 7 points they wouldn't have gotten so it would've been a 1 point game.
We can go back and forth all day about "What ifs" and talk about mistakes on both sides, but the outcome is the outcome. This is the beauty and the ugliness of the NFL lol.
