- Replacing the leather or vinyl seat covers is not too hard for most vehicles. In this video, I show you how to to them on a Ford Excursion or F-250 truck!
This is one of the best seat instructional videos I've seen. Thank you for going through in depth explaining things to someone that hasn't done it before.
The plunger on the seat back is a great example.
Thank you very much!
Only 16 minutes in and very impressed with this video. Very well done ! Gives me the confidence to tackle this job on my 2001 Excursion myself !
You can do it!! Thanks for the comment
Thanks!! You just saved me $900 (that's what a local shop wanted to redo the seats). I bought these covers on Ebay for $30 and I will do this myself.
Heck yeah, Thanks for the comment!!
I certainly hope you know how me I appreciate you taking the time to create such a detailed video on this procedure. I purchased a 2000 Ford Excursion Limited new and I am ordering my new cover today for both front seats. Your video certainly put my mind at ease.
Thank You,
Micky C.
Thank you for the kind comment, You got this!! Just take your time and don't frustrated. It does take alot of hand strength
One of the best ford vids on youtube... one of the best upholstery vids as well. Thanks brother
Wow, thanks for the kind words!!
Great Video ! I had no idea how to replace my seat cover. After this I got it done and was very happy I could save all that money doing it my self. Great Job. Thanks
Thank you!! You can do it!!
Dude, thanks for the video. I got a 93 Ford Bronco that i bought the covers for and now i feel confident in doing it. Thanks

Great Video! I have zero seat experience or hog ring and now I feel confident with both
Perfect! You can do it!

Thanks for the kind words!!

Thank you for helping me replace my seats in a 2000 f250!
I am so glad it was helpful!
Great video best one I’ve watched
THANK YOU!
Amazingly Great Video... thanks for posting
Thanks for the kind words!
I greatly appreciate you for making this video so glad I didnt take my seats into some one to do this just hopefully my foam is still good my excursion driver seat is trashed
I'm glad the video helped you out, you can do it!!
Hey.question what about all the foam that u still see on the bottom..can u tuck it more so it hides less?...
Fantastic video! Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words!
To make the armrest easier, grab a vegetable bag from the grocery store and wrap it around the foam then slide the new leather over it. Those bags wont make crinkly sounds like a normal grocery bag would.
Huh very interesting, I will try this!
Thank you for sharing. Doing same to my 2001 Excursion. New seat covers didn't have piping for hog rings. Always a challenge.
Oh wow that isn't good! I've never seen covers without piping
I have the same problem.. Any chance you could let me know which covers you used in the video?
Very helpful! Thank you
You're welcome!!
Was thinking maybe the heat from a blow dryer could help with stretching the vinyl. Thank you for making this video as this is my next project.
Great advice about the heat
Thank you for actually going in depth on how to replace the leather, I have a 99 f350 crew cab and the seats are getting pretty bad, I have two questions, my first one is have you ever done the back seats?? And if so how hard was it to do? My second one is I have the center console model instead of the armrest model, my question with that is where can I find replacement for that?? I’ve looked and just can’t find anything for the center console.
I not done the rear seats, But have had them done by our upholstery shop a few times. "The Seat Shop" in Texas has replacements for some years on the console. If not, any upholstery shop can do it for you pretty cheap.
Can you please tell me where you purchased the seat covers with " limited " stitched on the back of the seat
Great video. How do you make repairs to the steel springs under your seat? Thanks
I do not usually repair them, i'll just go with a different seat frame
Gettung reafy to takr a crack at my 1st time doing this. This video is excatly what i needed thank you! Do you have a link by chance where tk get the "linited" embroidered upper?
TheSeatShop has them!
Don't Limited seats have seat heaters? I wish you covered heater installation
Yes, most after 2000.5 do. They heaters just stay glued on the seat foam, so no extra work. They are not attached to the leather, and do not come off unless you peel them off of the foam on purpose
Brother this awesome thanks for sharing! Where are you located I love to replace my seat covers on my excursion?
Heck yeah man, thanks for the comment! I am in Midlothian, TX
Loved the video! QUESTION: I have a 2001 Excursion Limited since new. I have new front Envelops and seat foam. I cannot locate the Backrest foam and they have chunks of the foam missing. What do I do? Is there a place that sells the seat back foam? I've look with no success. Thank You, Bob Griffith, Central Fl.
Hi Bob, thanks for the comment! Right now, no one is making them unfortunately. An upholstery shop can repair them, or you can use generic seat foam and cut it into the shapes that you need, then use 3m Headliner / foam spray adhesive to plug it in. That what an upholstery shop would do
@@TheGaginator thank you, I guess I’ll just do the seat. I wonder why they don’t have an aftermarket for the seat back? Thank you again for your help.
Great video. I just did my f350. Unfortunately, the vinyl set I bought seem a little loose. Also, half was Velcro on the seat bottom and hog rings on the back. Both were Velcro. Do you have a link to the covers that you purchased? Thanks again, nice video.
Thanks for the comment! The covers from the video were made by "The Seat Shop" here in Texas
Where do I purchase the front bottom drivers seat skin for my 2000 F 350? Ford doesn't have the replacement new part. Thanks
Ford does not make them. There are quite a few companies that make them now. Best bet is google and read reviews . I used a company near Houston TX for these.
@@TheGaginator is the company in Richmond or rosenberg?
I used Richmond Upholstery, great quality and came with the factory logo and the match was SPOT ON!!
Nice video !!! Con u provide the link for leather seat covers ??please
We have them custom made near us, but here are 2 links to some well reviewed covers!
Driver side: amzn.to/3AlcObs
Passenger side: amzn.to/3e1tT2H
What brand was the seat skin and did you like it thanks
I don't remember the name, but it was in Houston TX
Did you end up tucking in that little bit of foam protruding from the bottom seat? That would have bugged me. Also I like to sit the seat out in the sun and get the fabric nice and hot, then you can stretch it really easy.
Yes I did, and your advice about warming the material first is spot on. It makes it alot easier to deal with the folds and wrinkles as well
I’m planning on replacing the seat covers on my F350 Lariat... is everything the same or will it be different because it’s an F350
It will be the same! I do several sets of these a year. You can do it!
@@TheGaginator Thanks bro. i appreciate it
👍🏿
Thanks for the view!
What size hog rings do you use? 3/4, or 1/2 or 3/8? And what brand hog ring pilers would you recommend? Thanks for the video I am going to attempt this
the pliers I used are from Amazon, and are bad, I would not recommend them. I had to modify the jaws just to make the tool usable. 3/4inch, The seat covers will come with the proper size as well
I do upholstery kits on 60s mustangs. NPD(National Parts Depot) sell a very good set of hog ring pliers. It comes in a kit with hog rings.
@@FE428Power I did the upholstery on my 66 with covers from Dallas Mustang. It wasn’t too complicated compared to newer vehicles and they looked great.
Where did you find the replacement covers?
We have them made here in texas
I have a 2001 Ford Excursion XLT were can i purchase the parts including foam to do 3 row seat Excursion. Quoted $3k and your video will save me $$$$$$
There are a few places online that sell them. We have them made in a shop near Houston Tx. Theseatshop.com sells them online
Where do you order the leather and vinyl replacements
A few places make them online, we have them custom made though here in Texas
@@TheGaginator what part of Texas?
Thank you! I have the brain power but not the braun, so I'll be recruiting some naive' young person to help with that!
Haha that's a great plan!!
Where in Texas are you? I'm near San Antonio.
