  • Major films in production including Avatar and Gladiator sequels are looking likely to be affected by Hollywood actors taking strike action.
    In the industry's biggest shutdown for over 60 years, some 160,000 performers stopped work at midnight in Los Angeles.
    Screen Actors Guild members want a fairer split of profits from streaming giants and better working conditions.
    The unions are also concerned about the use of artificial intelligence and how it could be used in the industry.

      You certainly can! Choose a especially crappy show, make a list of sponsors and get all your friends in on it and boycott like crazy the sponsors. Be sure to support shows that are in competition with the crappy show. Write letters to the sponsors and copy them to the network. The other way you can strike is to read 😀

      @alexmurphy6605 And perfectly mimic voices from written text (see popular Skyrim mods) and very soon adapt and animate actor's likenesses on the fly. Very soon even a c-list actor with lines will be lucky to get paid for a single season, with the rest generated artificially by the studio.

    • @theamazingbatboy
      @theamazingbatboy Рік тому

      @alexmurphy6605 I don't think they intend to replace main stars. That's still a draw for audiences and good actors have specific character to their acting which AI probably can't create yet (although in distant future it could use an amalgam of performances and have a good crack at it). Every other actor on set will be at risk of being replaced at some point in a season or for reshoots etc. without reimbursment. That's where I believe it will go first.

Aside from worst case scenarios and stories we've all heard of actors being screwed over, the average Hollywood actor is making a yearly salary per production, and there's always gonna be disproportionate spending in terms of catering and support staff when big wig names are literally paid 9+ million per production. It doesn't matter how you spin it. Proper management and delegation of those funds to lesser extreme extents would fix all of this in a heart beat.
      The question is, should we care when these people make movies about being attracted to Children

When a large chunk of your movie budget ends up in paying A-list movie actors, maybe they should be paid less?
