    I swear I hit better backhands just by watching this.

    I know it's an old video but who's the Kid? If this was 2016 he must be on tour. He's awesome and super consistent.

      I was watching his footwork when he was in the near court. A clinic on playing on the forefoot.

    not sure who that practice partner is....but props for hanging and sparring with novak. Continue with footwork but nice pop and decent pace on his shots...well done

      alexandergoldman UA-cam does that sometimes prick. How is it dumb? You’re telling a professional tennis hitting partner what to do with his game. That’s like me telling a D1 college Basketball player that they need to follow through on their shot. The guy’s probably like 40 times better than you, so stfu and worry about ur own game. Little tennis asshole

    Growing up I always thought that I had to develop some sort of special forehand stroke like nadal or Federer to be good but Djokovic is the proof that you can be exceptional without having special strokes. It's about perfecting the strokes.

    • @nikshill8767
      @nikshill8767 Рік тому +11

      what? djokovic has amazingly steady and relentlessly pounding punishing ground strokes. not a fan of his but had to react to your opinion that he does not have "special" strokes.

    • @dickpiano1802
      @dickpiano1802 Рік тому +11

      He has less flashy technique, but not less "special".

    At sport lessons at the Institute we had to hit 10 times on each side staying behind the baseline to get the highest score. I felt terrible that it was quite difficult for us. Now, after many years I'm fully rehabilitated as after watching this video I realized that even Djokovic could hardly pass this test.

      It is nice to see, but I do think he's not trying too hard, either.

    • @Geistlos0
      @Geistlos0 9 місяців тому

      yes. His hitting partner stands way to near at the baseline and makes too many mishits.

      LMAO especially when he pointed at the ball after hitting it, but otherwise it was actually pretty clean drop shot lol

    Novak's 2BH looks so effortless and deceptively easy to copy. I'm a 4.0 NTRP player and after almost 6 months of trying to "copy" that stroke, it still sucks. I always end up slicing fast paced balls.

      Keep practicing as much as possible.
      Don’t try to hit it exactly like djokovic, every backhand is unique.

      Doesn't really matter if you win matches. Look at nadal and his unorthodox forehand. People bitched about it and yet he became world number one and held won the most number of 1000 series at one time.

    How come Novak looks like he's spending only a quarter of the energy that his hitting partner uses? The hitting partner seems to struggle so much with a lot of movements.

    • @TurnOnTheBackburner
      @TurnOnTheBackburner 2 дні тому

      Cuz he's probably practiced at least twice as many hours as the other guy, since he'd already been on the tour like 13 years. His technique is world-class, so it looks like he's not even trying. Just like Federer lol.

    Great player, but in light of Novak, they may as well have just put up a scare crow holding a racket. At least then Novak can have the challenge of trying his best to hit the ball directly to the opponent’s racket.

      Think he's actually a junior and not a pro. In past years, Weil Tennis Academy has provided some of its juniors to serve as hitting partners for the pros, especially as the tournament progresses and there are less pros around on the practice courts.
