This is my go to early Spring rainbow killer. Larger rainbows in large reservoirs in the shallows pick this fly as the bottom fly in a two fly rig under an indicator. I keep it a foot off the bottom with a heavier tung bead - Copper John or Albino Wino or Chromie - 18”’above it. By larger I mean that 5 to 20 pound rainbows will eat it. When asked what the fish think it is taken for I always say something that like to eat in the Spring. One of your best ever creations. I will try a few purple. Hard to improve on the original I suspect. I have tied a few substituting UV for the peacock sort of a thread frenchie collar idea on the original Rojo. Hard to improve on it. Seriously great fly.

Greg is an amazing guy! I miss seeing him at Anglers All. He went way beyond the call of duty to help me.

I’ve caught some large rainbows and tiger trout on this fly.
    Excellent pattern
