Lee & his guide partner seem so mellow & enjoy the great outdoors.
yes..
Ohhhh yeah you got that son of a pup/bugger.... I think that's what he said on your full length DVD.
👍🐿👍
Amazing tom! What a bull!
You can’t predict the size of the elk by the sound of the bugle. I’ve seen spike elk that sound like a freight train.
We knew the bull was in the area and assumed it was him following the smaller one. Agreed that In the woods nothing is 100%..
Great shot and great composure to hold that long.
Красивая охота и прекрасный выстрел. С полем! Егеря отработали на все 100!
Great planning, execution and outcome….nothing like a predetermined hunt plan coming together…such a good feeling
Thanks for watching
I started shooting a Mathews in 2001 in New Mexico's Gila national forest and still shoot a Mathews today here in Wyoming. But that's here nor there, I subscribed because of your history as a trapper and because of your lures which I first bought over 35 years ago. Good luck with your channel.
THANK YOU for the note & trapper loyalty... & being a loyal Mathews Shooter too! Best, TomM
Wow, I remember going to trapping seminar years ago at Hoosier Trapper supply where you gave a short class on water trapping. I used your mink set technique and it worked great. 😅
That is awesome! Thanks for the loyalty!
My family absolutely loves Norther New Mexico. Our last four vacations have been spent in this gorgeous area!
beautiful area full of cowboy history!
Cool hunt Tom. I swear I remember seeing this one back in the day on ESPN. Knew it was a classic by the camo and bow, and heck, you look younger too. Now I'm watching anything elk hunting because I'm fired up for an elk hunt with my nephew in Alberta this coming September. I was fortunate enough to draw New Mexico years ago... best archery elk hunt I've ever had.
Good Luck on your hunt & thanks for being on my channel.. TomM
Excellent VDO !!!!! Thanks Tom
The guide has a fire in his soul for this.
100%
@@AdventureBowhunter unit 49 or 45?
Awesome hunt
Awesome hunt brother
Thanks 👍
Nice bull I live and hunt New Mexico as well great bulls in the area
You go scout for elk, Im going to poke around here with my metal detector 🤣
no joke!
Superb animal, well done.
how old is this? That bow looks 20 years old.
2004
A what 20 yd. shot and you shoot that far back......looks well behind the heart..
The elk was walking and only ran 120 yards.. not every shot is a heart shot. This shot was very lethal..
@@AdventureBowhunter you must not know to lead your target..i guess when good enough is...well good enough...
Awesome
Just by the bow I can tell it was an old video. I'd be curious what poundage.
September 2004 / Bow is a Mathews Black Max 2 w/ 80# draw weight.
@@AdventureBowhunter I knew it was some hefty poundage. Been following your hunting for years. Some very awesome hunts. Always appreciated your skill level, accomplishments and what you have done for the sport of archery.
@@johnd7215 Thanks for the message & kind words.. In the early days of ESPN Outdoors TV we couldn't show the impact shot if the arrow stayed in the animal.. that's why I used such heavy poundage. As time went on.. the network became more lax on the impact shots.. but eventually ESPN decided not to show hunting or sport fishing and cancelled all of the outdoor shows except Bass Masters. I had a 20 year run on the network.. & it was one of the highlights of my career to have my outdoor show on ESPN. Stay well & thanks for following my UA-cam channel.. TomM
Question I never hear asked. What is the total cost of this guided hunt ???
I paid $5000 for any bull in 2004
@@AdventureBowhunter At least double that in 2023.
What bow is that??
Mathews Black Max 2
YOU keep pulling the string for a minute wait for the bull move forward to shoot???
oh, man,, how much tension u pulling????
80# draw
🏹👍
who was your guide?
Lee Vigil Ute Creek Outfitters.. That hunt took place in 2005.
15yr old Mathews??
I did the hunt in 2005...
gut shot ?
Bull ran 120 yards.. not a gut shot.
I thought you would go for the lungs. Wasn't that a gut shot .... great trophy regardless
Every hunter aims for a killing shot. the bull ran 120 yards and down. usually on a gut shot - the animal runs much farther and he hunter must wait before trailing. We found this bull quickly..so the arrow did get lung. Understand that I play all my shots good or bad.. which is why my channel is authentic bowhunting. Thanks for being on my channel.. TomM
@@AdventureBowhunter Great shot. perfectly placed
Ever bull I shot I get straight pass through! …..
Sure when you hunt pristine private property you can pass up elk !! Hunt public like most hunters you don’t pass on a decent bull 🙄
dahhhhhh thats why there's more elk on private ground.. & I would be willing to bet more elk are taken on private ground than public. Lots more.. Hey! Public DIY hunts are awesome.. But it ain't easy even on private ground.. We hunted hard for a week to get that encounter.. My videos are authentic and I stand 100% behint the footage and experiences.
Make a video of a self hunt, that will impress me. Loose the guide doit the hard way.
Fortunately my goal isn't to impress you!
That's what's happens on a quided hunt no other hunters and no pressure.they have them on a clock noting were. When you just have to shoot. Hinting paying for it big bucks $$$$$$$ 20,000 dollars
oh yea.. you're on top of it Alan.. you can't even spell guide.. post your elk videos and trophy photos!
I know it don’t really matter but I’d at least try to match my camo to the veg I was going to be in
