I used to work in a bank from 1981 to 1994 and we used to stamp the notes with our date stamp if we were muting them to send bank to the Reserve Bank for destruction.
Where the opportunity was, when the old systems notes came in as mutes through Chief Cashier’s Department, one could swap out the old currency notes and replace with decimal notes, before the mutes going to RBA.
Awesome video, just found your channel, great info. We used to ‘race the roo’ in the $1 note to see who had the roo that was most past the metal strip that we called the finish line😆
When the $ note was introduced we used to have cangaroo races with the metal strip and the roos on the reverse side , the lines position varies , probably only on the early notes.
I keep a $1 note in my waller and the joke is I pull it out and tell someone Im down to my last buck but the last one cost me $5 for a $1 note and now its probably more when I have to replace it as it does ware out!

Hi, I have 10 x $1 in sequential numbers, signed by Johnston and Stone, uncirculated in perfect condition, Starting DHL 600912 . Got these new when I worked as teller at Bank 1979/1980. Would they be worth much more than $100 ( 10 x $10) due to them being sequential numbers ?
I had a 1 dollar note and a 2 dollar note with the Commonwealth of Australia at the top, knowing they were rare. I kept them in protective sleeves inside the sleeve of my son's baby photo album as an investment for him... My 15 little brother stole them to buy cigarettes.. 😠😤😡🤬
Don't ya hate when you use $45 worth of ink to print out the value list and the bloody printer leaves off 3 values on each denomination without you knowing and you go through all your coins and realise at the end that you have to go back through all of them!!!!! Doh!!!

Hi, what brand of or where did you buy your notes folder and inserts from?
@@stefm1048 From the Renniks website. I usually go with the Lighthouse brand.
The $1 note was very progressive for 1966. It had Aboriginal style designs on both front and rear.
