I know the trumpet intro is from Blue Devils 2019, and if I’m not mistaken, the woodlands did it too before BD. But I agree, even my old school I graduated from is going pretty hard, and they didn’t even place at this competition.
The lows don't come across in this recording. Granted, for as many tubas as they have, there should be more out of them, however, the deep bass drum rounds out the overall sound in person.

All i know is that this year is insane for many bands. The composition this year reminds me of old BOA/DCI shows but also new? if that makes any sense

Not enough low brass sound. Tubas aren’t percussion, why put them there? Woodwinds sound messy. It’s an overall MEH for me. . .

It's too far from tradition for me. They played the music well, I just don't like it.
