This was good advice until the sample response, which sounds nothing like how people speak. It sounded exactly like a personal statement excerp.

Thank you for your comment. While it may be very difficult to be articulate during the interview, try to practice (but not memorize!) your answer. It will help you be more eloquent during the actual interview.

I agree with the comments below. I don't think this is helpful at all for answering this question, but maybe more helpful for a personal statement. Not sure why listing your 3 hobbies would help me answer, "tell me about yourself.."

Thanks for your comment! The idea behind your "tell me about yourself" interview answer is also to make yourself memorable. Including your unique hobbies and interests can be a good approach to making sure you are remembered as a unique candidate.
