- Becoming parents was the best thing that has ever happened to us. Through the process we have grown so much, but in some ways, we needed to find ourselves again. We booked flights to Cancun, Mexico to stay at Xcaret Arte in Playa Del Carmen. We heard this was the best all inclusive hotel in Mexico and so we had to try it out! Come join us for 8 magical days exploring, zip lining, going on adventures and eating to our hearts content. Our review of the hotel and parks? Was it worth it? Come watch and see what we thought!

They fill up quick! The buffet is great, but the restaurants are super yum! We were there for 8 days on this trip. It went so fast too!

oh soooooo excited for you two!!! I hope you have a blast! you don't have to book in advance but I would highly recommend it because the dinner reservations fill up fast! There were several restaurants we wanted to try but we were to late.. You can book reservations for actives/food on the app or call the hotel. I prefer calling the hotel because they have someone that can walk you through the activities, dinner spots and see what you feel you want to do the most and book those!

Thanks so much Jared for coming along with us! It was such a fun place, we were totally exhausted after the trip but so worth it to! hahah I had no idea how warm the water would be there, such great beaches, would totally recommend if you are ever planning a trip to Mexico!

oh would totally recommend here! such a fun time! We went in November. (I have heard usually Aug- November and February to April) are more of the off season time (and more affordable) since it can be rainy weather, but we figured we were going to be wet anyways from all the water actives, we didn't mind the sound of rain. It ended up raining about once a day for about 20 mins but it made for great weather not being to crazy humid and hot out. I am sure anytime of year here would be magical thought! We are going again in September so I am curious to see how the weather will be then.

Your guys video was amazing and I just felt emotional at the happiness you guys radiate. How many days do you think would be ideal on a first time visit to this resort?
Melissa you are the sweetest! Thanks so much! When we had originally planned our trip we were thinking about 4-5 days but I had a friend recommend having at least 6-7 days there, and I would say the same! We stayed 7 nights and honestly felt like we could of stayed more. There are so many fun places to visit around that are all included with the Resort, but the resort is amazing as well so you'll want to spend time there too!
Hello :) Thank you for the video. What kind of water shoes do you think were the best for going around the different water activities at the parks?
Thanks so much! We both wore Tevas and they worked awesome and would dry out each night which was nice! At Xplor park for some of the underground rivers they require closed toe shoes, so we just bought the water shoes at the gift shop there and those worked great as well! I think keens could be good since they have some closed toe sandal options but not sure how quick they are at drying out. It gets humid there so some things like to stay wet! haha

thank you so much Addy! We were there for 8 nights and that felt enough to get a lot in. But there was so much to do at the parks and hotel, we booked another trip to go back we loved it so much! hahah Before we booked this trip we were planning on 5 days and a friend who had gone before told us we would want at least 8. I think 5 days would of been great, but so glad we did 8 because there is so many amazing things to do and see there! If we were planning on staying around the hotel and not leaving to the parks much I think a 4-5 days would be great, but if you are wanting to visit the parks to I would add in a few more days if possible. Hope that helps!

Looks great!!! You guys did so much. How many days were you there for? We’ve got 4 night books and are trying to figure out how many parks we can fit in
oh how fun! that will be exciting! 4 days you will get a lot in depending on how busy you want to be. If you call the resort they can help you book all the activities and dinner reservations so when you arrive you are ready to party! They are good with helping out with knowing how much time to allocate for each park you want to hit.

So sorry, I thought I responded earlier! Sorry for the delay. We loved the hotel room. We did a river view and loved it! The room is fun and has kinda an open feeling layout. All the rooms had porches and 2 hammocks on them. We are going back again and booked the same river view room. I heard the rooms are all pretty much the same at Arte just the view is different. My sister just went and did the ocean view and her room looked the same as ours did. I think it would be fun though to book in the Arte building because they have an exclusive restaurant their for those guests, and the food is amazing! I would recommend booking as much as you can in advance. We are going back in a few weeks and we booked a year in advance. I was thinking of extending the trip and when I went to see if there was any availability prices for the same room we booked were up over $300 a night. For booking dining and excursion reservations, when I called to make reservations for this trip I called really early, and they said to call back when the trip was 2 months away. We visited in November and loved it. It's off season then so a little rainy, and a little less crowds. Typically Sept-November is a little less expensive since it's off season/rainy season, but those are the times I like to go! We figured we would already be wet all day from water activities..whats a little rain!?!

Amazing video. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Out of curiosity, what activities were included with the hotel reservation, and which did you have to pay for as excursions?
Thanks so much! Everything on this video was included in the hotel price except the underwater sea trek (the underwater activity with the scuba masks). Crazy enough all the rest of it was included, as well as food.
We’re going in 32 days!!! Looks amazing and we are very excited 😆 Was there anything negative to watch for or any tips to be “good guests”?
wahoo! wahoo! sooo exciting! The only thing I would say is maybe a negative is a long bus ride (1 hour or so, unless hitting traffic can be a lot longer) to and from the airport to hotel. The bus transportation is free though to and from the hotel to the airport, so that is really nice! but a long drive when so excited to get there! haha That would be our only negative since I get car sick! haha but worth it, such an amazing place! So so so excited for you! hope you have a blast!

oh I am so glad! hope you have a blast! The shoes are TEVAS and so awesome for this kinda trip! They can get wet and go in the water great! A few of the activities at the Xcaret parks they say you have to have closed toe shoes, but these worked for most everything!

Thank you for hanging with us Kim! We’ve only ever visited in sept-November times. Supposedly that might be a rain season somewhere around there but since you’re having fun and getting wet anyways, rain made it seem that much more fun. Kinda Goonies feeling.
As for restaurants, the chinese-mexican fusion is amazing. Also would eat at the japanese-mexican multiple nights if possible the sushi is so amazing and so is the teppanyaki. Be sure to book those restaurants in advance if you can, they fill up and don’t always allow for walk-ins.

Hi Joe! So excited for you two, hope you have an amazing time! We bought the snorkel gear at the gift shop at the hotel. It worked great and I think was around $30 or so, I cant remember but remember thinking it was a good price! At the parks they provide snorkel gear rentals for free, but at the hotel they didn't have snorkel gear for rent so we bought some there.

Yes! all the activities are part of the room price! the only one that is not was the Sea Trek activity at Xel-ha (the activity with the scuba helmets), but park admissions, food, and everything in this video was included in the price of the room.

Alyssa, so sorry just seeing this! We had just called the concierge and they helped plan the activities for us based on what we wanted to do an availability. I would recommend calling vs booking actives on the app. They are really great about sharing about all the parks and matching up for what kind of trip you are wanting to have. Xavage park wasn't opened when we went, but is now is and heard that is awesome and a don't miss. My favorite parks we did were XEL-HÁ and XPLOR. Lots of great outdoor activities! For food, if you can get into Kibi Kibi....it was so yummy and amazing, best steak of my life! Really good humus, breakfasts, etc. If you like sushi TAH-XIDO is super yum!
How did you get to the Mayan ruins? I do not see that Hotel Xcaret Arte was one of the pick-up points. Who did you use and is it worth the 12h trip? Thanks!
Hi Xcaret has tours you can do that take you to the Mayan ruins that are included in a hotel stay. They are awesome and manage all the transportation, meals, etc. We did Tulum because it was close to the hotel (about an hourish I think). We didn't do the far ruins, but they have a tour for it for hotel guests if wanted.

Thanks so much! We did use a go pro but just used the GoPro handle that floats on it since we were doing lots of water activities.

if you can schedule before you go. You can do it there but some activities fill up and might make the trip less flexible depending if you want certain activities certain days or spaced out. A lot of the restaurants book up early too. They make it easy though when you are there to book things if you need to or adjust the schedule. We visited all the parks except for Xavage. That wasn't open when we went there in this video. But we actually went to Xcaret Arte again recently and went to Xavage and it was pretty cool! It's a farther drive than the rest of the parks though so I would pare it with doing Xoximilco (floating fiesta river boat/dinner cruise) Of all the parks Xplore, its open day and night. We have done it in the day and the night, honestly prefer the day so you can see all pretty outdoors, but it's fun either way! Hope you have a BLAST on your trip!

How fun you are heading there soon! Hope you all have a BLAST! They have free locker rentals at all the parks. They give you a key when you check into the parks to hold all your stuff. If you have a go pro or anything like that, we recommend bringing it with you to capture the fun! For height requirements, they very for activity, (Maybe google the parks you are going to for specifics) but with an 8 year old, they are probably going to be able to go on most everything. We had a friend who just took their kids and they had a 7 year old and they said she was the perfect age to enjoy all the activties.

Great video compilation that showed alot, but it looks like you explored several parks including Xcaret, Xplore, Xences, and maybe even xel ha which are each in separate locations and have their own admission fees. Would have been nice to know where you were for each of the adventures and the prices as these places aren't cheap as you must know. 3 of those parks plus staying at Xcaret must have set you back a boatload.

Was the tulumn part even included with the hotel stay?!
Tulumn was part of the Xcaret hotel stay! All of Xcarets parks and excursions are included! They do have things like swim with dolphins and that kinda of stuff as some of the parks that is an extra cost, but there is so much to do at the parks it's not needed unless wanted to have that experience.

Cancun and Playa Del Carmen! The hotel Xcaret is in Playa Del Carmen and the parks are located all in between/around the two cities.
