I wish pastors would stop saying the OT law was thrown out. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:19 Hypocrites will tell you that they love God and love their neighbor but if you give any examples of what that means, they'll deny it. One of my favorite OT laws is if you see your neighbor struggling with their ox, help them. If you follow the letter of the law, there is little need to concern ourselves as few people have an Ox in Phoenix. But Jesus was concerned about the spirit of the law. If you see your neighbor's car broken down on the side of the road, help them. The OT law is examples of how to love God and love your neighbor. It is not an exhaustive list. And never was. Jesus didn't give a new law when he separated the sheep and the goats. He listed ways to love your neighbor. If you have a heart of flesh, you don't need the law spelled out for you. But the OT law serves as 619 examples of how to love God and love your neighbor and when you study them, you see the spirt of the law, rather than the letter of the law.
