You know, Carpenter's soundtrack genuinely fits with The Sentinel's puzzle-strategy gameplay, both the tension, and the slow journey to victory it entails. Leave it to a horror filmmaker to make one of the best puzzle game soundtracks ever.
The sound track and overall aesthetic of this game is really unique and gripping. Like others, I'm not sure the game is actually *good*, persay, but when I saw the soundtrack was by John Carpenter, I had to look up the full OST.
I feel like you could definitely refine the idea and update it, maybe having a light source generated by the Sentinel as a clearer representation of what it's looking at. Would definitely be a good project for an indie developer to create their first fully 3D game, or even possibly as a VR project due to the lack of movement outside of body switching. It's such a unique idea and it's not really been iterated upon outside of this game and the original on the Spectrum.
I love to listen to this and picture in my head a prequel to john carpenter's vampires about valek the master vampire showing how the reverse exorcism went wrong and when he was first turned and him in the medieval era and recking havoc and chaos whilst other noblemen rise up to become the first slayers for the catholic church (for fans of the film what does everything is that a good idea for a plot?)
This game was the worst game I ever bought but the funny thing is I used to play the music and absolutely loved it, it used to play on my sterio even though it was for the ps1
The game is definitely a chalk or cheese type of game. You like it or you don't, there isn't really a curve going from one to the other, it just is like it or not forever.
@@MrZoolooklove to hear the game is still a thing, I played it decades ago and loved it, even though it was so difficult to aim correctly to collect distant trees aso, or warp when in a hurry, with a ps1 controller 😂 managed all the levels, JC s music made it such an immersive experience
I like how nobody can dislike this. Then again if you find this you where probably looking for it.
Wow, this was a complete suprise to me, that JC had actually composed videogame music. And what a soundtrack.
Yeah this wasn’t some half-assed cash-in, these are some genuinely creepy tracks.

Praise the name of this great man.
We ❤You,Mr.Carpenter.
This soundtrack is up there with Carpenter's best in my opinion, especially the gem at 10:34.
Thanks for pointing out this track. Til now I was just a fan of the first(?) track (beginning at 0:43) ... but now will go deeper down… 8-)
20:12 is best imo
Amazing what you can do with a piano if done right.
The soundtrack really keeps you perpetually on edge. I can only play this game for like an hour at a time because it’s so relentlessly unsettling. 😂
this is really good! had no idea about this. thanks for sharing!

Got this on vinyl and just discovered it's an unofficial bootleg...
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I don't understand why the playstation soundtrack CD has only one song. I would have liked to have all the songs on that CD...
It has all of them
It's the only thing who was very fois on this game....''the menu with music
It has some elements like Mike Oldfields music .
Just like John Carpenter's "Halloween" score.
I had this game as a kid
I hated it
I dunno why, prly cuz it was hard and I didn't know how to play it
But this soundtrack is a jam
This soundtrack is jam and the game is excellent ... but yeah I suppose you were too young to play it properly :p
