LOL been there. At the end when she finally takes the treat, but tosses it onto the ground! Sometimes doing that IS the treat!
I think owner Vanessa's heart is in the right place and she'll eventually succeed.

I wish this lady the very best of luck! It's scary making the big diet conversion at first and by yourself (I used all of the videos that I purchased on Birdtricks and the seasonal feeding system ). It has become my favorite thing right now. It was so satisfying to pull out the peanuts, millet "buds", corn and sunflower seeds, from my birds diet (I am fostering and she came on a pretty bad diet). Now, she won't even eat the dehydrated corn as a reward! She eats her chop and will eat your birdie bread and occasionally a pellet. Sleep was a game changer too! You will never regret following Birdtricks tried and true methods.

Diet changing is a nightmare, but I've successfully changed my budgie to better seed, vegetables and eggs, fruit is next 😊

The food to treat tips makes sense, even with other types of pets. If they see that food item as part of their diet, using it as a treat become ineffective during training. Great to see tips for training on UA-cam 🤗❤️👍🏾💯

Yes diet is important, to the fact of training, and good health, my little budgie wasn't having it with millet, this was frustrating me until I came across your diet for birds video, saving Grace, I changed my birds seed diet straight away, he took to it like water to a ducks back, this in turn changed his mind about millet, obviously millet was in the feed I gave him before transisting him to a better seed diet, he's also treading vegetables and eggs, next up is fruit 😊

It seems many people drop money on these master classes and don’t do the prep work. Is there a guide for preparing for a master class? Something that says, “To get the most out of this class, sleep and diet must be addressed prior to the class. Here’s an outline of how to do it. Implementing these strategies as soon as possible, will help maximize your success at the master class.” This may already be being done, just wondering….

Yes. They ask ya beforehand, where you're currently at with your bird. What are your goals to work on there. And they ask about diet, sleep etc.. no one just walks in completely blind. Sometimes, people aren't the best to watch a video to intake info, but need real life visual aids to help them grasp the concepts

in their defense, I bought the budgie training guide in november and still haven't sat down to watch it. Sometimes life just gets in the way.

Yes. There is and they send it out in several emails. It’s also included if I remember correctly when you sign up for the class.

I don't even have a bird and I already know what They are going to say. Diet, sleep, etc. These people don't even do basic research before getting a bird, must less scheduling a master class.

I spoke to an avian vet as soon as I got my first bird. I learned that 12 hours of sleep is minimum. Mine get 14 hours.

THis bird made me feel 100 times better with my three budgies not following a single command, lol. Got one to step up the other day. I left my room open and he got lost in there so after flying away from me and not grasping the wide open door he gave up, perched lower and stepped up. Just want this to not be a terror/desperation response as that is just going to be a negative association.

@@BirdTricks But does it have a section to fill out or a check list or an activity or planner to print? Some people do better when they have somewhere to input and plan.
This is the special education tutor coming out in me. I have just been seeing people asking about this in the comments a few times for something like this so I thought I would ask. I actually get excited about the idea of work pages for diet conversion. LOL

Ok so my bird bites me a lot but it’s not really reactive or aggressive. It’s more like he’s exploring and wanting to lick and nibble my hands but then he takes it too far and it hurts sometimes. Anyone have advice or experience with this?
