@@gianncmedina7805 There's a Kotaku Interview on UA-cam of him repeatedly insisting very hard that it is of high import that Yakuza and Judgment stay as seperated worlds as much as possible even if they occur in the same place.
Kazama, who was already established as an efficient assassin Yakuza, being a mentor of sorts to Sera was something I had forgotten over the years since unlike the other two people he "mentored," Sera actually seems competent at the Yakuza business. Who knows? Maybe Kazama had a hand in the founding of the Consortium. Taking how we see members like Soma act, who probably got even more devilish once he saw how the Consortium operated, into account, it goes to show just how different a man Kazama could actually be compared to what we see and hear through Kiryu.
True, a lot of what we know about Kazama is said from Kiryu's perspective. Yakuza 0 did an amazing job in giving the player doubts about Kazama's nature. They implied and said that he would be aware of the risks of his plans to keep Dojima at bay; those risks being involving civilians like Tachibana and Makoto, and we know how that went.
Especially when we take into account that they actually were responsible for killing a lot of Omi officers during the Tojo/Omi war in the 80s. I'm assuming that's how they got their reputation in the lore and became one of the most fearsome groups in the Tojo Clan
It's always on my mind of how certain character are glazed both by stories that are told and the fans and making people forgot overall picture For example Kazama , He is Tojo Clan Legendary Hitman with over 100+ confirmed kill , now that's terrifying but one small part that i think most people are likely to forgot (since the game doesn't tell you directly) Kazama run an Sunflower Orphanage , which he admitted himself that he built it for a children of the parent that he killed If children are the only surviving member , this means that He willing to kill both men and "women" if it's Tojo Order , while Killing is a norm in Yakuza games , Women Victim is pretty rare and who knows how many parents did he actually killed same goes for OG Nishitani in Y0 , fans really like him and sad to see him gone mid way through the game , but i just can't help but remembered the fact that either he himself or he ordered his men to kill Makimura Makoto Lookalike one of the plan to keep Makoto safe was to find someone who looked similar to Her this plan was proposed by Lee and Majima reject it because he couldn't bring himself to murdered an innocent women with 0 involvement next thing we know there's Makimura Makoto Lookalike body who's been killed and her face is disfigured beyond recognition. i'm not saying you can't like these character , but let's not forget that most character still a criminal who's willing to do horrible stuff if it's an order.

Sera definitely intended to just injure Sagawa like he did when he’s first revealed. Think about it - he’s not only a high-ranking Tojo officer, but he also heads their “shadow ops” division; the one with the nastiest assignments which simply can’t go public. Someone in that position killing Omi’s Chief of HQ would be far too high of a risk. The Omi could openly declare war on the Tojo and it’d likely blow up the existence of the Nikkyo into the public eye.
my take is Kazama founded the nikkyo which would explain why he a lot of tojo members even shimano is afraid of him a number of bodies Kazama buried help the dojima family and Tojo clan became the most feared clan in Japan
tbh, I think this is something that sets 0 apart, giving us more info about the Tojo Clan itself. Like sure we get families in other games, but they're two bit compared to a whole black ops division of the clan.
Sera not killing Sagawa in 0 was to prevent a war. Tension of Tojo vs Omi in that game was at the boiling point already. One dead Omi high rank member would mobilize the entirety of Kansai down to Tokyo. From the cutscenes it's pretty clear that Sera is more capable with a gun more than his hands, so he chose to incapacitate Sagawa by shooting him.
The Nikkyo being included in Lost Judgment was really cool, it's nice to see that RGG thinks of stuff like that and it's not just a random new organization that does the exact same thing. While I do think the Nikkyo being a mystery is cool, I'd love to get a game where we actually play as someone within the yakuza, back when they were at their peak/early days when they were being founded to really learn more about the inner workings of stuff like the Nikkyo and other families and general hierarchy. Tbh, Makoto Tojo as the protagonist would be an amazing opportunity for a spinoff like that with completely new characters and setting (people like Acting Chairman Nihara and the mysterious Second Chairman and Kazama in their younger years, could also include others in substories like the Ryuji substory in 0). Anyway, I really liked this video! Would love more lore-type videos like this one between all the new game announcements. Also love the Toru Higashi appreciation at 25:16.
Makes you wonder how much of the consortium is left. Former members have so far still proven to be dangerous in different ways. Great job making the vid, leon!
As per one of the last substories in Kiwami, it was still functioning even after Sera’s death, honestly they probably are still active albeit now no longer under the Tojo clan umbrella.
Honestly if you did a series on each family/group/gang I’d watch it. Like explaining their “origins” if any and how they impact the story or game they’re in.
Definitely one most interesting organization in the series really shows you rgg can seriously beef up a character if they want to like if sera went chairman for 5 minutes to this mysterious organization leader imagine the type of story we get if we actually see the saejima family in action that when rgg decide to do so untill then it sit with pile of rgg mysteries
It's kinda interesting seeing Nikkyo Consortium reference from Yakuza 0 in Lost Judgment. And the fact that while little conversation with Irie doesn't play a big part, knowing the aftermath of Tojo Clan dissolution make players, who went through from 0 to 7 (Or even Gaiden), feel the previous playthrough paying off from the golden era of Tojo Clan back in the 80s to the modern era where it's impossible to maintain the Yakuza business thanks to Karumocho 3k Plan and those Anti-Yakuza Laws :3
Kinda makes me wonder if they could have potential lore run-ins with the Daidoji regarding undercover and secretive deals, or shadowy and covert conflicts.
This was one of my first thoughts when the Daidoji were introduced too! [SPOILERS FOR ENDING OF INFINITE WEALTH] Due to Kiryu's decision to accept his name at the end of IW, it possibly means that the Daidoji will be the main antagonists of Y9. If that does end up being the case, I really hope the remnants of the Nikkyo from Daigo's company help Ichiban & co fight against the Daidoji, using their experience as a black ops group as well as potential past dealings with the Daidoji to their advantage.
Soma is one of the best killers I think RGG have done. Upon his first introduction and meeting him on my first playthrough, off the bat I just felt creeped out by him lol. He was thin, tall and way too polite. Way before anything was revealed about him, I just got a dangerous vibe from him and my intuition came out to be more than correct. (His theme is also one of the best in the franchise). Soma being a part of the Nikkyo Consortium adds onto it, for a group that is supposed to be relatively threatening considering their work and how professionally and covertly it’s handled, we never really had a reason to feel threatened by them. Having Soma be an Ex member of the Nikkyo Consortium, but also one that even his coworkers and other family members felt creeped out/afraid of adds a whole new layer to both the Consortium and Soma himself. Also, these types of videos are great. Just like you said at the end, I also often watch lore videos covering topics/stories I’m already familiar with, just to see if I missed something or if someone else caught something that I didn’t and I hope you do more 😮
I been thinking, you know what could be cool? A Daigo Gaiden game involving with this group. As Tojo's black ops you think the chairman would have contacts and commands them in some ways. The stories of it can be possibly endless.
Could be around Y5 to show his full perspective since he was being sneaky in that game tho I don't recall if everything had already been fully explained during the story. Kinda like how Gaiden is just Y:LAD from Kiryu's perspective. Regardless, they could write like 50 different stories with Daigo since neither he nor the Tojo Clan have been explored nearly as much as someone like Majima, who can only really get one relevant present-day game and maybe a game between 0 and 1. Either way, it'd be peak.
Honestly that would be a pretty good concept for a Tanimura game. Keep the whole man vs organisation thing from 4 and blend it with the noir detective style of Judge Eyes. Tani investigates the dirty work of a Nikkyo consortium that has simply gotten out of hand after the Tojo disbanded.
Would like to watch more yakuza lore videos there are so many organizations and such within the game it would be nice to have more videos exploring them like this one

Sera tasks Majima with taking out Shimano, who was in kahoots with the Omi. He also sent the hitman to kill Kiryu (though that’s what he wanted everyone to think), a supposed patriarch slayer.

I asked Mr. Yokoyama to give me a dev build of the games
omg leon, that b-roll is lookin sexy 👀
i’m still pissed off that, to my knowledge anyway, we never got a game where we’re actually part of a family from start to finish. over leaving at the start of the game/already being exiled
Leeeeeon please upload more lore videos. They are awesome!!!
the nikkyo doesn't make sense because if they were legit why would they need saejima to carry out that hit
The Consortium(mainly Sera) made a good amount of appearances in RGGO ngl
infuriated i likely wont be told the secret of how you got all those panning shots without the HUD in the intro. assuming the drone is involved at the very least. regardless love the topic
edit: 19:20 "this guy's a beast i tell you" lol
I feel like they will either make a kazama prequel next or a game set between 1988 and 1995 next.
Or may judgment 3 with yagami fighting racism
Is it a good idea to have a game on Makoto Tojo and the creation of the Yakuza Tojo clan ?
On the couch with my morning coffee, outside its chilly and rainy and devilleon7 uploaded a new video to watch. Todays gonna be a good day
Hell yeah, enjoy the heck outta that coffee for me :D
RGG lore are the best videos. Thanks for that.
Loved the video, leon!
By the way, did you see how s-boosts are going to work in Daybreak 2? You have to spend 2 every time you use an s-craft, so no more vandalize raid spam😭
I did hear something about them limiting them 😢
I always assumed they were still active during Sera's Chairman reign, & then completely defunct after the funeral or Kiwami 2, with the members either just retired or absorbed with other family groups
It’s almost 4 AM here, i can’t watch it tonight noooo
I love the Nikkyo and wanna port it for LAD:S so bad but attempting to makes me wanna drown in lava
letsgoooo i saw this video right as im about to eat
I could have sworn I've heard of the consortium between my playthroughs of Y0 and LJ , maybe it was mentioned in Like a Dragon? Or Gaiden?
Shoulda ended with " BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY, A YAKUZA THEORY!THANKS 4 WATCHING!"
But seriously though, keep the Ace Attorney BGMs rolling.
Makoto Tojo will appear in Dead Souls Kiwami, mark my words
I know they be sorting shit….
I am a 2 AM gamer
It's 4 pm where I'm at

YES I LOVE YOU DEVILLEON DADDY MORE LONG FORM PLEASE
Hey Leon, you seen the new Yakuza Wars leaks? they could be fake, keep that in mind
I did, apparently it's real. There's a trailer for it and all, it was outsourced to some Chinese company iirc who already made a couple of mobile games.
@@devilleon7 rgg online 2 let’s go
Is there any way to play RGG online even though I believe it's only exclusive to Japan
I'm so childish that when you posed the question "what shady things does the Nikkyo Consortium do?" my first thought was 9/11 because that was today's date 💀
Great video Leon, I love the background displayed between sections.
They are in fact so mysterious, i forgot they existed. lmao.
During the 10 billion yen meeting in Kiwami, Sera looks like the crying cat meme the entire time
We need a spin-off game about kazama and sera getting their start in the Tojo clan. A post ww2 yakuza story would be great
