Did you miss Kintsugi two years ago? I thought it was a great album. It is missing that Chris Walla touch, but I love it more than Narrow Stairs and Codes & Keys.
I’ve seen them 9 times live, all prior to Plans being released. Best show I have been to was Death Cab for Cutie playing Transatlanticism and the opener was Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twins. This was at UCI in California over 10 years ago now. The good old days!
@@michaelaguirre8356 that's awesome man. I was in middle school when Plans came out but even then I remember all the coolest people in their 20's were into Death Cab and the other awesome alt-rock bands of the day. It was still pretentious on the edges I'm sure, but it was before hipster became such a dominant style. I guess it was me and the other kids who were into emo in 2006 that ruined it for you guys. Sorry about that mate.
This music totally encapsulates that youthful, hopeful, Aliveness that we all go to in our own minds whenever life gets hectic or stressful. Simplistic beauty.
I really wish I could have seen this live! I talked to John Bird about it after a show once and he told me it was totally spur of the moment and just came it so well they decided to put it on the EP. Wonderful.
This whole time, I thought there was some kind of pattern to the guitar rhythm. I transcribed 12 measures from Photo Album and compared it to this... that lasted about 3 measures.
@@marmcd2003 yep, old fan. I got to see him low key in this warehouse last year playing an acoustic set. This was one of the songs he played. Really took me back
Anyone still here…? 💙🎶
Me I've probably played it 100X in the last 14 years.
Always
yes
It doesn't matter where you are, what you're doing in life, Death Cab always brings your soul back to a simpler time.
well said :)
Pain always pain
I still come back to this one from time to time - even after all these years. Ben getting into Brand New Love is just magic. It’s perfect.
this might be the greatest thing to ever exist
Dude I absolutely agree
I freaking love this whole EP, but I think this is my favorite track! Classic Death Cab, wish I could have seen them live in the mid-2000's.
I wonder what future albums will sound like with no more Chris Walla :(

sandgaijin you do realise that Chris worked on that album, he said that he would finish the album and then leave

"Whisper to the nodding heads / thrilled you fell apart, instead of them". Sebadoh definitely has some songwriting moments.

This drummer. This guitarist. Keyboardist. Just in the f-ing GROOVE on this. Musical greatness
Death cab will live forever....this is a band that must be remembered forever, there aren't many bands that touch you as deeply as these guys do
I will keep coming back for the drums in the Sebadoh cover. Brilliant
I actually came to this thinking I would hate it, but this is a really good cover of Brand New Love.

Greatest band of all time
such a great one! one day I shall also cross the country… alone 🕺🏻

They used the giraffe cover for the crane man when in reality looks all the same to me 😂
"Restless urge of love's worth burning for....."
Thank you so much for posting!!! That's amazing quality!
You can find this on thepiratebay under a discography torrent. I'm still seeding.
So I definitely first heard this as a limewire download and seeing your 13 year old makes me feel absolutely ancient 😆
