The joy in your face when you saw your hairstyle. Pure happiness. The talent and quality of October's work is impressive. Thank you both for a fun day ...2 women in control and doing it their way for themselves.
You look gorgeous!!! I also love the pinups of the 1940's, particularly those by Alberto Vargas. I have several of vintage calendar pages & a couple of layouts from "Esquire" of his work. You look like you have leapt from the pages of an October 1942 calendar!
What an amazing video, and the photos look stunning. What a wonderful thing to do. I love what these two companies offer. I love that style of clothing. The hair the makeup. That kitchen was kitch heaven ❤❤❤❤. 😊
In the 80s even though we didn’t have paper ladies, we did have a plastic version as well as a magnet version! But it was a very similar idea. Lovely video once again
I loved the historical background info! I wanted to add it wasn't just ultra conservative people wanting to see an end to debauchery, it was a lot of wives and women's activists that supported prohibition. This is due to the high levels of domestic violence and because of how frequently their husbands spent the entirety of the families budget on alcohol. Men would go to the bars after work every day and come home having spent entire paychecks on alcohol, money that was needed to feed their children. I just learned about this so absolutely no hate but I found it so much easier to understand why it had so much support from women.
If you watch the WWII propaganda film, Since You Went Away, with Claudette Colbert, Jennifer Jones, and Shirley Temple (a wonderful film, by the way), there's one scene where you hear people in a restaurant making comments, and at 30:48 (in the UA-cam version), you can hear a man remarking about "red fingernails." Your polish made me think of that. I love the way you bring modern thinking into your historical videos. You look gorgeous, too!!
You look so gorgeous! I dream of living in the early fifties. I have a lot of vintage stuff and hope to slowly be able to get my husband on board with outfitting the whole house but I doubt he would go for that lol.
@@no-oneinparticular7264 I know that the 50s weren't the idealized sanitized version that we see in TV and movies, but it just seems like everything was simpler and slower. Plus the clothes were beautiful and feminine and the food is delicious. :P
My mum died in May, I’m going through divorce atm and will be moving to Eastbourne eventually with my five cats (my sister and her fam live there) and after seeing this I’ve decided that if I have any money left at the end of it all this is going to be my treat. I’ve always wanted a1940’s makeover.
You did a fabulous job. You look great and professional too. I loved it. Every photo was so well done. So very cool. I wish I had the nerve and the opportunity.
Wow! You look fabulous in these photos. Absolutely stunning. What 😂 fabulous business October has set up. A* for content. PS love your trousers and pink jumper.
I adored everything about this video. You look absolutely INCREDIBLE! October is fabulous too and really makes you feel comfortable and confident, even when you’re slightly nervous. 100% nailed this! Happy Halloween everyone! 👻
Have to tell you Marilyn was not a pin up girl during WWII. She was in the 50's after the war. Most popular pin up in AMERICA during the war was Betty Grable❤❤
I LOVED my what Katie did stocking (they were the plus size ones) but they have stopped carrying them and sadly are no where near size inclusive. The sad fact is that 99% of Vintage reproduction companies do not go past a Uk 20 Or a US 18. Which leaves out a WHOLE group of people. I really love vintage attire and want to wear it but have to make ALL my clothes in order to have anything close to fitting. :(
@@jenniferwells2291 They used to and they were glorious! I am a solid plus size woman with thick thighs and they didn't roll down. But the owner decided it wasn't "Profitable" to sell the curvy ones anymore. All I want are the tan with tan lines and tan with black lines. I really think all us Plus size gals should get together and email her asking for the stockings!!
How fun, and the pictures turned out very nice. From my perspective as a man, Sexy is a woman who holds herself with confidence, fabulous dress, hair, makeup, and a kind heart. You nailed it, absolutely wonderful :)
What a LADY you are; breath of fresh air in this decadent world we live in

The hair, reminds me of 1940s photos of my mum in her 30s (RIP 1984).

I did live in the early 50s, born in 1953 . Couldn't resist replying.

That's disappointing to hear. I was hoping to order from them because I thought they still sold plus sizes.
