    Awesome video as always Mal. I’m with you mate, you’ve definitely found the RAF base, I’ve never seen so many bullets in one field very interesting that’s for sure. Great footage of the deer crossing the field, it’s worth going out just to see the wildlife. Thanks Mal for sharing.

      Hi Steve, thanks for watching and your comment.
      With their distribution deffo not a range so think that field must have been the landing strip with the flare parts. I did wonder if they might have been German from the straffing as could not match to UK ammo. Hopefully someone can match them with the dimensions and weights.

    At least you got a lot of good signals Mal and not much junk.A few years ago a hit a pile of bullets on Irvine beach,and although after I while I thought ''it's going to be another bullet'' the signals sounded so good I couldn't stop myself from digging them.

      Hi HR, thanks for watching and your comment.
      I did reply before but looks like the post removal gremlin is still in YT :)
      The coil looks small but is ideal for this type of hunt in the stubble and junk.

      Hi Roy, thanks for watching and your comment.
      Thats the dilemma I have as there was nothing else and it wasn't a full airfield but a dummy one so probably not many troops there. Even at the AAA battery end of the Estate very few WWII finds but plenty medieval, Roman and Celtic as its high ground.

      Hi Mac, thanks for watching and your comment.
      As in the video review they are the top bit of the landing flares.
      Over 60 signals in 4 1/2 hours is bit of digging :)

    the discs look like the landing flares the resistance, SOE used to mark runways, or drop sites

      Hi Coreservers, thanks for watching and your comment.
      Think thats why they are used on this dummy airfield site as can be moved around easily.

    Hello Mal ......I think you have a mixture of tracer and ball heads there with the .303,s

    • @malcolmpotter
      @malcolmpotter  2 роки тому

      Hi Paul, thanks for watching and your comment.
      No tracer rounds but its the calibre that puzzling me in that they are 7.1mm to 7.4mm not .303 calibre.

      Hi Mehental, thanks for watching and your comment.
      As I said to Roy its a dileamma as the ammo is not .303 but 7mm so indicated not main line troops.

      @@malcolmpotter 276 Enfield used 7mm bullet which was a replacement of the 303 in ww2

    • @malcolmpotter
      @malcolmpotter  2 роки тому

      Thanks for thats and just had a look at them.
      The .276 is a longer and heavier bullet than these two types and thats what's puzzling. I am wondering if they may be German as the airfield was bombed and strafed during the war?

      try looking at the 308 Winchester and the 243 Winchester or Remington 7mm-08 or wildcat cartridge mostly for hobby shooting but most of the German guns like the K98 were 7.92x57 8mm bullets but the Spanish Mauser m1916 was a 7mm which the Germans could have used Spanish weapons as supplies was low. Definitely a interesting bullet i hope this info is useful and you find out what bullet it is 👍gl&hh 👍
