I probably would've replaced the fretboard with roasted maple but I completely understand your choice. As far as the pickups are concerned, look into what the actual pickups are and repair/replace from there. The jazz p.u. probably needs to be dipped in lacquer or wax to get rid of the microphonics. With the split precision p.u., DC readings don't necessarily mean output. If it's a valuable pickup, it may need to be rewound. If not, Duncan Antiquity's are going to be closer to what it originally had. Anyway, great channel & keep up the good work.
I really appreciate the feedback. I was actually looking into those exact Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups. I wish that Fender actually had some options like the '62 Custom Shop pickups in a PJ configuration. They won't even sell the bridge pickup by itself to make a set. For now I have the Yosemite set sitting on the bench waiting for testing. I may yet still go with the Duncan set if I can't find a vintage style Fender pickup somewhere. Thanks again!
For your microphonic issues, is everything grounded? (Bridge, cavity, pots etc)? A friend had a similar issue on a Fender Jaguar and it was due to lack of grounding. Good effort on the refret btw.
I was worried that my work wasn't precise enough, but if this works, I should be good....
I still don't know why your videos don't get more views than they do!

Did heating the frets seem to make them easier to remove?
Yes definitely

Yep I went through that part. I think something happened to the pickups somehow.
Hard to watch. Supposed to drive them out from the bass side.
Seems like that would damage the fret slots more than removing them in the same direction they went in…
try exchanging w/ P/Ups by Dimazio called RELENTLESS P/J COMBO Supper Great will not be let down.
Sounds like I’ll have to give them a try.

I am definitely an amateur. This was my first ever attempt at a refret. Definitely a learning experience in what not to do.
