I like how Melodii goes from panicking about the fact a rival battle is happening to completely screwing with the duo by adding their own lyrics within like 2 bars
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.

I honestly really love this game and the similarities to parrapa, the artstyle is pretty charming too while the vocals could use some work but are good nontheless
edit: I didn't want to say fnf, but some people were referring to it being similar somehow??? in my opinion i see nothing in this like fnf.
More like if Parappa and FNF had a kid

Oh my GOODNESS the amount of love poured into these scenes from the battles, the story, the characters, the animation. Lovely slice f life vibe to it it’s awesome
The angle in which you see the overworld and it’s very low detail don’t sit right with me, looks worse than a Wii game. Everything else looks fantastic.
edit: Is my opinion is too harsh? Think a 2D overworld would’ve looked far nicer.
@@protocetid its a demo also its far from being complete
also criticisms are valid like always, helps make a game even better
@@protocetid I mean
This is based on Parappa
So I think something like that adds to a PS1-like style
@@unionjack0638 There's a discrepancy between the PS1ish models and the Wiish polycount of the maps. The low poly models are ok in Nami.wav since it’s clearly got a vaporwave motif. As for the rest of the game, it’s like the creator couldn't decide what era of gaming to pay homage to. The part where they pull the sheet pan out of the oven looks bad, the 2D pastries would be a resource saving measure in an PS1/N64 game while the rest of the setting is several generations ahead.
Feels like a groovy mix between Parappa the Rapper and WarioWare.
That dancing butter looked like something you'd see in a WarioWare game.

I love how ghost tapping isn’t only allowed but encouraged, creates good habits. Overall a great game, I can see it appealing to beginners but maybe having not required songs that are around project diva speeds
What’s Ghost tapping? Is it the thing where it encourages the player to add more notes?
@@PinkyR Ghost Tapping is a Technique used for counting in many rhythm games in order to help with accuracy. You often see people adding their own extra notes simular to a metronome. This is done to help with timing for better accuracy on notes, especially during slow sections.
Something like Infinite Strife BYD on Arcaea where during the special note section people will tap in order to get it to be pure.
In this case they encourage adding more notes to the songs in order to score higher, which can build a good foundation for harder rhythm games.
Yeah as the disembodied head and floating ballet dancer said to support the bar your support the bar. Honestly the DJ headlock should be the main character not Melodii
Best rhythm game ever! Nami is easily my favorite of the new songs, though Jamtine is cool too

Game overs so far in this game:
Tutorial: dream starts ripping
Cinnabay and biggie cheesecake: piano falls on melodii's head
Nami: dolfin is gonna have enought and slaps melodii's face
Jamtine: the house will get too much smoke so both of them couchs and buff butter will slaps melodii's face from melodii's POV
McWave's: entire restaurant exploded + IT happened from melodii's grill
the butter slaps you if you fail during stir and mix!
Oh thx for helping
I love the Vibes of this game, like a mix of Parappa & Early 2000's Sonic Art
(Also the Animation Bangs)
The songs bangs. I have listened to the tutorial one a lot of time
A modern, self-aware Parappa for a generation already accustomed to rhythm games. Nice! Popular opinion I’m sure, the baking game and using a mixing bowl as a record scratch is killer

This game got a unexpected but cool update! Melodii can now walk around the world!
What I like about this update:
Nami.Wav
And the Rival Battle animation for the vs screen
Stickers help Melodii during songs like the Melodii sticker allows her to mess up once without losing any score
There's now a bar warning when it switches to support and repeat it now flashes
I love Stir and Mix's lyrics
How the miss sound is melody saying "HUH?"
I wonder if 3D Mode changed though
3d mode did change
It now gives a 3D-FI bonus and has a line of dialogue for end of the song Grease Poppin.
Being "Woah dude my Burger's in 3D!"
Oh god i just noticed (almost) all the voices in this game are vocaloids, that's amazing!
I'm trying to pin which ones are which; I know Biggie is Big Al, but the rest are hard for me to get
@@Jinsoku440 seeing as biggie is from big ai, maybe the others are also have names based on their vocaloids?

@@marinanieto7670 Jamtine sounds like either Eleanor Forte or Cyber Diva…
Probably Cyber Diva more to an Eleanor now that I listen to the voice more closely.
Looks like an interesting take on Parappa! The only issue I’m seeing right away is the overworld is too big with too little filling it in. The size is fine if there’s interesting stuff everywhere but whole screens of nothing but sidewalk and trees isn’t very interesting.
Its still in demo so more may come soon!
@@sukisukughost yea but it's still a demo lol while it's still in the early development phase it's the perfect opportunity to give feedback and criticism
They weren’t saying “don’t criticise” lol they were just saying “it’s still in the demo phase so they will probably fill the empty space with time”
"It's how my Mom and Dad fell in love! Well, at least until I was born, so just don't have any babies and you'll be fine!"
Jesus CHRIST Melodii!
My biggest complaint is that lack of shown inputs on instrumental notes. Having to completely memorize a verse, while having to switch your controls, while going through a song for the first time is BRUTAL for any player nevermind newcomers. I love the support bits. I think a short burst of Cool Mode is the best way you can do it. The issue with cool mode is that if you do your own thing you'll basically immediately lose it. So letting you make your own lyrics while not immediately getting snubbed out is great. I also like how Melodii is a fusion between Parappa and Lammy, filling the role of the singer and the instrumentalist. The format of short but more varied and plentiful battles is much more preferable too, the entire Parappa trilogy can be finished in less than 5 hours because of how little songs there are.
There are few things that I wish were better
For one I wish that there was a better difficulty slope (The first song is BRUTAL if you haven’t played Prappa the Rapper before) ,having more general exploration without running Into invisible walls would be nice, and personally (BIG emphasis on the personally) I think the first song is atrocious.
But for a demo it does a fantastic job with its music, animations, and fun things that happen during the songs. (The second song is my personal favorite)
7/10
I can't wait to see what's in store for this game :D
Edit: Nevermind, I was very, very, VERY wrong with the lack of emotions.
Also, I feel that Melodii's shocked reaction on the vs. screen worked for the first two songs, but by the third one at least, it feels like it might be more appropriate to switch to another one.
The overworld is also very, VERY bland, which is made even worse by contrast with the gameplay. There’s WAY too much big, empty space. Just shrinking down the whole thing would be an improvement.
@@spongeintheshoe yeah, i feel like if they (melodii) had personalized reactions, maybe playing off of the opponent's animations, it could really be something special
For a demo it was definitely a really good proof of concept but the overworld definitely feels a bit more slapped together compared to the pure quality of the music stages.
Honestly I completely agree, but as a proof of concept it’s really well done especially the animation

Holy hell, the animations in each song is so very detailed! Fluid and swift movements, high framerates, creative and silly expressions, i would never have thought the game would have this judging from the overworld stuff and the tutorial.
Idk how much time the devs had to burn for this quality, but as a demo it's so very worth it.
I like melodii stumbles with her words when you miss notes. The animations so cute too. Same with the vocaloids.

2. Dressed like stereotypical secret service members, complete with sunglasses and earpiece with curly wire.

OMG SCARTCHIN MELODII IS A PAPARAPA STYLE GAME WITH A NON BINARY PROTAG AND BANGER VOCALOID SONGS WHAT MORE CAN A PERSON ASK FOR
They arent nonbinary they are Ambiguos gender, heres what i found.
Melodii doesn't have a defined gender. It's worth noting that at the start of "Grease Poppin'", when Synth Mcwave comes out the men's bathroom, one would expect Melodii to come out the women's bathroom. They instead come out of a third bathroom with a note symbol on it.
@@Disrupted_Vessel In fact this is for the player to feel themselves as Melodii, because she is a link between us and the game, she is an angrogynus character, initially she may have the girl looking design but I guess the developer took the choice of see her as either a girl or a boy, even if there is already a persona for her.
