- The resignation of a veteran editor who wrote an outside essay criticizing NPR for, in his view, journalism that reflects a liberal viewpoint has led to calls from congressional Republicans to take away the network's funding. Matt Taibbi joins NewsNation's Chris Cuomo to discuss the fallout.

As a listener of NPR, they should be defunded and made private. The material is obviously heavily biased. They will do fine on their own.
NPR isn't funded by the government. People just keep repeating misinformation they heard rather than verifying anything. It's quite frustrating to see this over and over again in comments. YOU are the problem because you don't educate yourself and just pass on the misinformation. Public radio stations get government funding (NOT NPR) but they are so lazy and cheap that they take the easy route and buy the suite of programming that NPR sells. It fills up their airtime for pennies on the dollar compared to what it would cost to actually do something.
Matt Taibbi has been taking many victory laps lately. Keep to it Matt.
I majored in journalism at the U of MN in the late 1960's. I didn't pursue the profession but I'll always remember my first class in J-100. The prof asked why the students wanted to pursue a career in journalism. One person said, "Because I want to make a difference." The prof quickly shot back,, "That's not your job. Your job is to tell the full story." We're far from that golden objective.
I dumped NPR 3-4 years ago. Used to be a HUGE fan too.
Yeah...me too. I used to enjoy it. I'm kind of sad about it.
Taibbi always boils it down to the basic facts of journalism. Always good to get his take on NPR.
For those who have listened to NPR for more than a couple decades, the transition from fact-based reporting, what you might call "liberalism" these days, to illiberal leftism has been rather obvious.
I do lament what's happened to our (precious; important) national public radio. 😢
I don't want or condone such partisanship from such a national treasure. PBS is significantly better - although they are unfortunately still themselves, quite regularly, problematically one-sided in their reporting and their coverage.
NPR started going down hill in 2016.
They infected people with TDS which is their only objective.
I would say a year or two earlier.
I actually remember it being bad in 2001.
I use to listen to Dianne rehm and car talk yrs ago. Haven't listened for yrs.
Defund NPR, PBS, Democracy Now ...the whole CBP/corporation for public broadcasting and tell the people that the public broadcasting system is a propaganda arm of the Democratic Party.
Your statement is ridiculous. It only demonstrates that you don't understand ANY of this. Why are you commenting?
Please enlighten me..@@gametime2473
Defund NPR.
OMG, do ANY research before commenting. You know NOTHING about this.
@@gametime2473 You're right. They should defund NPR in a mostly peaceful way.
Thank you
Defund npr
Defund is not good enough- why are they the default public radio news / culture in every state? They need to compete on a level playing field with alternatives across the political spectrum
If OPR has a message and an audience we THE POEPLE do not have any obligation to pay for their new.
Don't disturb the hive mind.
I have listened to NPR for over 30 years, and when I could, would support them. I really enjoy listening to 90% of their programing. I get most of my opinions on politics and world affairs from many different sources and don't need NPR to form those opinions for me.
I Believe STEVE INNSKEEP is the least credible so called journalist I have ever listened to. When he comes on the air in the morning I turn off the radio and start my day. Because of the lack of credibility and the damage NPR NEWs does to our democracy I hope they fail. I hope they run out of money and they close their doors. Evan at the loss of all other programing.
I listen to NPR almost daily. They are woke all the way
wrong messenger
Hasn't been good since art bell left.
Rich of Taibbi to talk about selective reporting.
Yeah all media should only be concerned with holding the right in check
He’s one journalist funded by his audience. NPR is a massive news company funded by the taxpayer. Your argument is ridiculous.
All reporting is selective. Every reporter makes a judgement on what story to cover. But big significant stories must be covered. Taibii never ignores big stories …unlike Cuomo who regularly closes his eyes and ears to any story that might help Trump. And when Cuomo does cover a Trump friendly story…Cuomo will minimize or spin it.
Now he needs trumpers for ratings wokeness is a thing now. Chris is a clown.
Defund NPR 🤡🌎
Yup, The Newshour went from being balanced to garbage in the last few years.
