    We got our sheltie when I was 7 and I remember trying to teach her, her name but I was a little kid who knew nothing about raising a dog so when I was talking to her trying to get her to comprehend that her name is Lady and mine is Kaela, I confused her and she suddenly appeared to be very sad and frustrated, she whimpered and put her tail between her legs and I never forgot that moment because I felt like such an awful person for making such a sweet puppy confused, it broke my little 7 year old heart.

    I got to get 2nd choice from a Sheltie litter, pick out a puppy from all those cute adorable playful pups. That was a wonderful experience, plus taking the pup home! And raising her.

    I'm now watching your training videos. We have had 2 other Shelties, we have a 3 year old male, Sully, who is Daddy's boy. When we lost our 14 year old Isis the 23rd of March, I got to looking for another. We're picking up a bi-blue baby boy on May 20, a drive quite like the Kevin trip. I'm now watching your training things so I will be good with Aska (Glowing's Blackhawk Aska Thunderstruck). He will be my assistance dog, so he will be learning how to walk on a leash next to my electric wheelchair. Thanks for the videos!!

      @@CricketChronicles I noticed you using a clicker every time she gets it right. I can't wait to start using a clicker to see how it works for mine. Just wondering if you thought using the clicker along with treats when she does her piddle puddles and potty poops outside it would speed up with the house breaking. This puppy training during winter is a lot more work plus she's a poop eater. 💩😜 it feels like she's never gonna get it. Love all your videos still working through them all.

      @@DR-qf9th We didn't use the clicker for "business" related activities. Not sure how that would work. Especially as the clicker would distract as soon as they start doing their business :) Definitely easier in the summer! We were on her all the time. As soon as she awoke = outside. Whenever you felt it had been a while = outside. Slept in a. crate at night beside the bed. Good luck!

      @@CricketChronicles thanks for the advice. I am finding that if she doesn't do her business while we're outside I take her back in and into her crate. If she does her business shes allowed to go back in and terrorize her big sister for like 20 minutes (Wears her out) then back to the crate. Immediately outside after she comes out of crate. Still as much as this system seems to work never trust a puppy lol😆 also I don't let the other dogs out until she does her business she gets too distracted. I bring treats with and call her name and tell her to come. That was great advice cuz she really needed to learn her name. She knows sit but haven't been able to get her to go down on the down command alone. She'll go down from a sit and only with her following the treat in my hand.

    • @CricketChronicles
      @CricketChronicles  4 роки тому +1

      @@DR-qf9th that's how Biscuit started the down... following the hand (first with treat then without). Slowly distance yourself. I find I still use my hand as a second signal for down.

    Biscuit is adorable!! So cute and his nickname is too 💖😊🐶
    I get my fur baby in 3 more weeks 😊💖🐶
    You are one of my favorite channels that I love watching but I still want to point out fur baby owners really shouldn't have their pups off a lease when outside of a fenced in yard. I have read so many stories of even the best trained dogs when off a lease if something scared them some of them ran off and went missing.
    I also will never forget where I use to live and was a residential area, too, so not a main road and the neighbor's beautiful Collie their son accidentally left the gate open and while I was watching someone hit her with their vehicle and she was trying to get out of the way but you could tell they purposely hit her again. She let out a SCREAM I will never forget and a second later she was gone 😥😥😥

      @@CricketChronicles It was terrible for me to see and I will never forget it as I love all dogs even though Shelties and Collies are my favorite so I get attached to all dogs in the neighborhood.
      A neighbor put out a part Lab when she was around a year old and I took her in. Took her straight to the vet and she had heartworms. We had her treated and she lived to be almost 15 years old.

      Just Me • When I was four years old I witnessed a collie jump out of a car window; he was struck by a car and was badly injured. A policeman shot him. It is still a vivid memory at my advanced age of 68. Horrible thing to see.
      It was doubly horrible for you knowing someone did it purposely. 💔

      @@katlovesdogs4119 Yes, really upsetting seeing Dutchess trying to get out of the way only to be hit again on purpose but the images of her being hit, the YELP she let out before dying seconds later is what has stuck in my brain all of these years and the same for you on what you saw!
      I imagine you get just as upset seeing animals beside a car window that's rolled down or in the back of an opened truck. That upsets me, too, but it would be worse seeing what you did. 😥💔🐶
      Accidents happen so fast! Even the best behaved dogs something can suddenly scare them where they run off and get lost, hit, or stolen. Mine is always on a leash when outside of our fenced in yard and even when she's in our yard I am with her. Other than that she's inside 😊💖🐶
