I laughed my ass off, the funniest tutorial guy on the internet. Man...I want professors to teach like you :))
Hahaha, I had never laughed watching 3D tutorial!!
RESPECT
Go to the main menu and choose:
Rendering > Render Setup > Renderer tab > Sampling Quality > Frame Buffer Type.
From the Frame Buffer Type drop down, choose: Integer (16 bits per channel).
You should now be able to render Lens Effects Glows in Mental Ray mode.
Thanks, was looking for that due to error dialog.
Nice tutorial! Easy to follow along :) That cancel noise though when you said "NO" scared the hell out of me, wearing headphones with 85% volume xD
Ha! You made me jump with the alarm, but very helpful through out. Thanks, subscribed!
i laughed far to hard at 2:10 haha
This video is making me die of laughter
This is why Max annoys me. I followed the tutorial, and nothing happen. Now if I mindlessly screw around with it for an hr, glow will just magically work, and I'll never remember what dumb-luck thing I did to repeat that process...
Max is getting full of bugs. I have Max 2015, and everytime I open a file, all the objects are invisible until selecting them from the objects list, which is absurd!
Great tutorial. I have one question. When rendering with the mental ray glow, how do I keep the glow tight around the object when it is off in the distance?
every time i try the glowing effect that way, i get that error "the following render effects are not compatible with the bitmap format selected for rendering. The selected format is: 32 bits per channel floating-point (RGBA)" what can i do to make it work?
I'm getting two problems with this:
1 - I can't seem to get the glow to be the right size _and_ the right brightness. If I adjust one, it seems to affect the other; if I crank the brightness, it increases the size of the glow instead of just making the glow brighter. But if I change the spread, it'll either make the brightness of the glow greater or less depending on which way I adjust it. There seems to be no way of telling it to make the glow be a certain brightness without also changing the size. I need the glow to basically stay within a certain volume relative to the object _and_ be a certain brightness.
2 - The distance from the camera affects the size of the glow in all the wrong ways.
Is there a way in MAX to basically get a glow that stays within _exactly_ the same volume relative to the object? Like the way a lightsaber blade would.
Thanks for the tutorials. I'm glad that these vids are laid back and funny - it actually helps me retain the instruction and information. It is probably impossible for anyone to watch these videos and not learn from them or be entertained in the process. (Especially after comparing these to other tutorial alternatives on youtube)
Thanks again for the lessons. They are pretty rad.
"noooo" HAHAHHAH Y SO CUTE XD
Great, but how to make a real nice glow like about 0:20, also at the end of video?
Self illumination (Glow) will do this with little effort no camera or renderer work... Check the shader options..... Epic ending to this video LOL.....
man, YOU are my hero.
+Shani and YOU are mine
@@ProTutorials any new videos?
@@peruvianpuffpepper904 thinking about doing some DaVinci Resolve tutorials… thought?
@@ProTutorials Ahh, I guess no more 3DS Max tutorials?
Such a funny guy, laughed out loud jajaja such a good professor, greetings from Costa Rica! loved it and helped me out so fine!
was playing with lens and glow with mental ray on yday and couldn't understand how a basic thing failed.. seems mental ray is the causer since scanline is fine but then things mess up as mental ray is chosen... kinda wack they're incompatible like this..
Thank you very much for making this video. Very easy to follow and super helpful!
Entertaining and informative at the same time. Thanks for the help!
Hello, im having trouble in time 3.00. where the picture i render is not in wireframe. i already follow all the instruction. the object in the perspective already in wireframe but in rendered result it still in solid one. can you give me solution?
+Nancy Lao no one replied you ? lol, i have the same problem here. Since i am also a noob to 3ds Max but i did try and figure out the problem , you must be having a different renderer in your render setting maybe v-ray ? just change it to default renderer and that should work.
This was so funny omg🤣🤣🤣 so happy to have found your channel! 🙌🙌 Thank you so much for your videos, and I wished I found your channel sooner! 😭
ah i'm facing a terrible issue here :| I am trying to add glow effect just in the way you did but i'm getting some gbuffer error. Mind you that i'm trying to add a glow effect while i got something transparent in my scene.. Maybe that's the problem?
I followed every step. even set material id to 3 on both glow effect and material applied to my object. how come i don't see any glow on my renders?
+Alysa Fajard I had to crank up the parameters.
Great fuckin Teacher.. oops.. hehe ;-)
To get this to work we need to go in to our render settings which is shortcut key F10 SLAM!! Huh still works :-D I laughed my ass off definitely Liked & subscribed keep up the awesome and amazing videos you do.
I love how every time a keyboard shortcut is used, you hear this huge SLAM and a new window pops up.
you just entertained me while learning. thumbs up.
any ways to get the lattice edges whole closed
This tutorial was really useful, and it worked perfectly the first time I did it. But I've run into a bit of a problem; I added a couple of lights into the scene to illuminate some things that I didn't want to glow. However, now my glowing object appears black in the render. Any idea what's going on? I've tried removing all the lights from the scene, and that didn't help. I'm still kinda new to 3ds, so there's probably something obvious I overlooked. Thanks!
Very helpful and hilarious comments! Thanks for posting.
Very cool and funny Tutorial! *lol - Just got a question: I got an Image on a plane (with alpha/opacity) and I want to make it glow in the colors of the images. How could I do that?
In 3ds Max.I change camera glow effect size also changes with camera. i want to change glow effect W.T size of object not size of camera.
is there a way to make the glow to follow a path? i am making a 3d model of a amazon Echo and i want to animate a glow for when you say Alexa.
The humor goes well with explaining further on the procedures. Thanks a lot man, you're a life saver. 😁🙋♂
and we going to select...manual seconddary im just kidding we'll select glow"
XD DUDE ur legit funny and pro at 3d stuff i like uu but im just a 16 year old game developer lol xd
Hi.....this works only with the VRay renderer is it ? No options to do this with basic scanline rendering or any inbuilt renderers which come as default with MAX ?
man that website you recommended Google - is awesome!! LOL.. sweet tut too!
mental ray? not vray? :(
LMAO This guy is awesome!!!
sorry i haven't watched the whole tutorial and tried to make myself before i saw the middle part of your video ^^
Sure it works for everyone... but I got an error.
The thumbnail shows a blueish purple gradient transition yet in the video its just an average green and yellow one.
hey when I render this message appears
MSG 0.0 573 MB error: bitmap expected unsupported GBuffer channel "transparency"
MSG 0.0 573 MB error: "Lens Effects" effect expected unsupported GBuffer channel "transparency"
MSG 0.0 570 MB error: bitmap expected unsupported GBuffer channel "transparency"
MSG 0.0 570 MB error: "Lens Effects" effect expected unsupported GBuffer channel "transparency"
Any ideas? ):
have same
how to make in art render efect glow
this is awesome but in your first method, how can I change the feather of the glow because when I am using it, the the glow boundary is quite prominent, which looks bad.
where's the render button ?
Создание размытия и тумана в 3ds max(death to field)
I like how on the bottom left it says, "Keep your eyes on the tutorial"
F to thee 8 button that got smashed
I can´t change the material id. When I click the button in the slate material editor it doesn´t show any setting.
I'd typically assign the glob to the object ID versus material. Thoughts?
glow*
It's actually a dead baby seal.
Thank you for sharing.
hahaha the humor was pretty good along with the video. I only knew the old way. Thanks for this.
Dude, you rock! I will watch every your goddamn video! Thanks a lot
Glow doesn't show when I export as .FBX, what should I do?
my mental ray glow method just isn't working! it renders the surface mat but it doesn't have.. a glow!! all settings are the same but i have 1 daylight in my scene, help!!
Thanks, but I don't know the first thing about 3D ;)
I have a uni assignment on this god forsaken program and you've saved my life
pretty interesting! ill make the world glow thanks to this video!! haha :D
How to do it with Vray
Wow, thanks man!! That google advice at the end was amazing!! :)

i am suprised after i got that bell sounds - - - lols, but nice tutorial :)
What about import the effect to unity4?
Is that possible? i know i'm noob :p
please help me T.T
from what I know you can't import post-process effects into Unity but Unity has its own *awesome* glow camera effect which will achieve the same result :-D
Thanks
After Effects is better
"by hitting the number 8 on your keyboard" *STOMP*
i like your way of teaching. great video
thanx
what button renders this is my frirst time on max
What did you do in order to get the colours to appear so... neon? I'm not really a fan of the flat "lightsaber" look.
Maaan you made me laugh and learn. Nice way to teach! Thanks!
thanks four your explanation, now i understand
oh boy it was great! new subscription detected....
Your tutorial, is very complicated.
i want use this for building projects how do i save them
I thought the blue diamond will remain
with only green glowing (material ID 3), isnt that the purpose ?
+Runner Ho Yes, but we gave it the orange color to the map we dragged into the material shader from the RENDERER options for Camera Shader>Output. Camera Shader>Glow didn't work well with Mental Ray, but the camera shader did fine.
+Alan Foos Well, no, the orange went to the mental ray material we created.
Thank you so much. I just spent the last hour and a half trying to find out how to do this. The Scanline method didn't work for me, but Mental Ray is what I needed
looool just pro dude like it .
good presenting
u can't used environment and effects for arnold?
"hit 8" *punch*
I did everything and it ain't glowing in renders meh
that was soo entertaining ahha, very informative thx
Wow. You teach very well man. Most tutorial makers cant even talk, but you are really good.
Is there anyway to do this with the ART renderer?
